May 18, at Machiavelli’s Restaurant in downtown

Bristol (8 Fifth St., Bristol, TN). Please call Gina

Rossetti (423-878-7827) by Tuesday, May 16th to

reserve your spot for lunch.

Looking Ahead (re: Incense)… For our folks with allergies to incense.. Please note the

following weekends when we will have incense at liturgy:

ASCENSION (May 27/28), PENTECOST (June 3/4),

HOLY TRINITY (June 10/11), MOST HOLY BODY &

BLOOD (June 17/18). Remember, on weekends with

incense, we do NOT use incense at the 8:30a Sunday Mass.

Fr. Stephen’s homilies: Just a reminder, for folks who

would like to “follow-along” with a typed copy when

Father Stephen preaches… at those Masses there are always

copies on the pedestal in the commons that you can pick up

on your way into church.

PLEASE… treat the hymnals with care! This year we have had an unusually large number of

hymnals damaged/torn in the church and particularly in the

chapel. Each week we find more that we need to tape. The

hymnals need to be used until Advent begins (December) so

please don’t let small children play with them and if one is

accidently torn, please let us know so we can tape before it

becomes unusable. Thank you.

St. Anne School 5K This Saturday May 13!

St. Anne School annual 5K run is scheduled for this

Saturday, May 13 on the Abingdon Creeper Trail.

This is the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend and so

we have planned a Mother’s Day theme with a special

T-shirt design and a treat for all the “Moms” who

participate. Registration forms can be found at:

runtricities.org. We hope to see you there!

“Summer” Subs Needed!! We are in need of some folks willing to volunteer to

work Bingo to “substitute” for some of our faithful

bingo workers so they can take a bit of vacation over

the summer months. If you would be willing to help

fill in on a few Monday, Tuesday, or Saturday

evenings at Bingo during the summer, please sign up

in the commons or contact the parish office! Thanks!!

HOLY WATER:

There are holy water bottles available

by request in the church office. Fr. William Saunders, pastor of Our Lady of Hope parish in

Potomac Falls, VA, writes that holy water offers “blessings

for three reasons: as a sign of repentance of sin, for

protection from evil, and as a reminder of our Baptism.”

There is no specific prayer to pray when using holy water,

other than the Sign of the Cross, “In the name of the Father

and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” Other prayers can also be

offered, such as “By this holy water and by Your Precious

Blood, wash away all my sins, O Lord.”. You can also pray

an Our Father or the Saint Michael the Archangel prayer

when using holy water. Stop by the office if you would like

to get a holy water bottle so you can have holy water in

your home. Keep in mind that the holy water in the font has

already been blessed by the prayers of the priest.

Please also keep in mind that holy water from the church

font is NOT for drinking.

Parish Pastoral Council members are reminded of their

meeting this Thursday, May 11, at 7 p.m. in the School

Conference Room.
