Reminder/Recordatorio
St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church
Dear Friends,
Today (and again next Sunday) we congratulate our many young people who have received their First Communion! It is a moment of great excitement and joy. We can’t fully experience the reality of Holy Communion. Jesus, the Risen Savior, comes into the lives of young people (and to each of us when we receive) because He wants to stay there. He wants to remain with us and He wants us to recognize that He is there. Worthy reception of Holy Communion connects us to Jesus and connects Jesus to us.
This Sunday we hear Jesus explaining this truth to us. He uses the image of the vine and the branches. It is easy for us to understand the difference between branches which remain connected to the vine and branches which are separated from the vine. The branches should continue to grow and produce good fruit. This is possible because they are constantly receiving nourishment through the vine. Once they are cut off from the vine they begin to wither, to dry up. Receiving no more nourishment they are destined to die. It is, in fact, a striking image of a sad reality.
In our lives we have a limited number of chances to receive Jesus in Holy Communion. Believers know this and take it seriously. Each time we receive Him should be an opportunity for us to encounter Him personally as the God who loves us. Each time we receive Him we can learn from Him and learn more about Him. He can make us fruitful and effective in His Kingdom. We can love like He loves.
Please pray for our parish. Pray, please, that each of us—especially those who are receiving Jesus for the first time—will never be separated from Him. There is nothing in this world more important than the One who will bring us safely beyond this world to our True Home in Heaven. Meanwhile, may we enjoy the Bread from Heaven as often as we can! Stay hungry, my friends.
Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler Pastor
From our Pastor,
Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler
De Nuestro Párroco,
Padre Mateo Zuberbueler
Queridos amigos,

Dear St. Anthony Family,
Last weekend was such a blessing! We had a grace-filled parish retreat this weekend. It was moving to see a few of our Corpus Christi families praying prayers of praise, contrition, thanksgiving and petition,
all together. What a gift! Also, the PTO Mother-Son dance was tons of fun. There were lots of games and the boys even danced! It was very sweet when they all got the dance floor to slow dance with their moms.
Our students showed us some brilliant moves at our Safety Dance-A-Thon, to raise $15,000 for security enhancements. We’re so grateful for all those who have donated to help us increase facility security for our school and those entrusted to us. We are still accepting donations on our home page https://corpuschristischool.org/support/elementary-campus-race-education-k-8/
Yours in Christ,
