The whole school have loved the science/health and wellbe-ing week. We have taken part in a variety of activities: taekwondo, e-safety, hip-hop dance and we even got the op-portunity to listen to a Para-lympian speak. During taekwondo, we were taught the importance of only prac-tising in a safe environment (martial arts club) and not any-where else. There will also be a taekwondo club starting at school after Easter.

Dental Care We thank Mrs Smith for talking to the children about looking after their teeth. It seems that some children do not visit the dentist until there is a problem! It’s real-ly important to have regular check-ups. Stamford Dental Care on Broad Street has spaces for National Health pupils. Please ring 01780 752001 or 01780 763137 to register.

Attendance (05—09 March 2019) Overall we achieved 98.06% which is a really good result.

Special commendation to Giraffe and Lions classes who had 100%

Cracking the Codes for WWII Year 5/6 put mobile phones and tablets to one side on Thursday afternoon and com-municated by Morse code instead. The World War II ci-pher, which was origi-nally developed by American Samuel Morse in the 1840s, was put into action using electrical cir-cuits that that the children built them-selves. They included switches to tap out their messages in 'Dots' and 'Dashes'.

Head teacher's awards went to Charly her fabu-lous hip hop dancing and Zack his reading. Lunchtime awards were for Charlie for his man-ners, and Joseph for his entertaining lunchtime conversation skills. Fran Williamson, retired British Paralympic Swimmer, visited the pupils yesterday and spoke to them of how she became a champion medallist. Fran competed in two Sum-mer Paralympic Games and won 6 medals. She inspired the children telling them she was afraid of water and did not learn to swim until she was 12, training for 2 hours each day before school. Children were enthralled with her talk and inspired by her.
