Offertory Collection - This weekend there is weekly

collection only. Next weekend there is a weekly collection and a second collection for World Mission Sunday.

The Sanctuary Lamp acknowledging the Real Presence

of Christ in the tabernacle is burning this week in memory of Frank & Mary Rockney by Family.

Parishioners have the opportunity to donate altar

flowers for weekend Masses. The Parish will order the flowers at a cost of $100.00 which includes two altar bouquets. Please call the Parish Office to make these arrangements.

Every Wednesday during the month of October the

Rosary Altar Society invites all parishioners to join them in reciting the Rosary at 6 p.m. in the Church.

The Knights of Columbus Council 1480, Greensburg,

distributed “Change for Life” baby bottles last weekend. This is done to support the Pro-Life and Respect Life activities in this parish. All money raised in this parish will stay in this parish and will be used to support the principle that God, and only God, grants life to all, that life is the greatest gift from Him, and no human being has the right to deny that life. Please take a bottle if you haven’t already and fill it with your coins and/or dollars. If you write a check please make the check payable to Saint Bruno Church and return it the weekend of October

28/October 29.

The Saint Bruno Rosary Altar Society will meet on

Thursday, October 19 in the Parish Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the recitation of the Rosary followed by the meeting at 7:00 p.m. All ladies of the parish are encouraged to join the society.

Coming Soon - Become Familiar With the Psalms - We

will hold a Little Rick Scripture Study on the Psalms, beginning Wednesday, October 25. This study is titled "Psalms II" and is a sequel to our study last spring. We will consider the loyal psalms, the psalms of lament, and the declarative psalms of praise. There are seven (7) sessions total; the group will decide how many of these seven (7) to hold in the fall and how many to keep until after the coming holidays. Sessions will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday mornings. Register by calling the parish office (724-836-0690) by Tuesday, October 17.

Men 18 years of age or older who would like to know

more about the Knights of Columbus should call Leroy Ferri for information (724-836-3872).

Shamitis who will celebrate the Golden Wedding Anniver-sary Mass today at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral: Lord God and Creator, in the beginning you made man and woman so that they might enter a communion of life and love. You blessed these couples so that they might reflect the union of Christ with his Church: look with kindness on them today. Amid the joys and struggles of their life you have preserved the union between them; renew their marriage covenant, increase your love in them, and strengthen their bond of peace, so that they may always re-joice in the gift of your blessing. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

LITURGICAL ROLES

THIS WEEK

A man went to visit a friend and was amazed to find

him playing cards with his dog. He watched the game

in amazement for a while. “I can hardly believe my

eyes!” he exclaimed. “That’s the smartest dog I’ve ev-

er seen.” “Nah, he’s not so smart—he has a tell,” the

friend replied. “Every time he gets a good hand, he

wags his tail.”

WEEKLY MASS SCHEDULE

"He dispatched his servants

to summon the invited

guests to the feast, but they

refused to come." Why? What

made the king's invitation so

distasteful to these guests?

According to the parable,

either the guests were too

busy with their farms and their businesses, or else they

were downright hostile to the entire idea: they "laid hold

of his servants, mistreated them, and killed them." What

could possibly explain this resistance?

Perhaps we have a clue in the puzzling conclusion of to-

day's Gospel. One of the second-string guests pulled in

from the streets came to the feast "not dressed in a wed-

ding garment." The man knew he was guilty, hence his

silence. And the king's punishment suggests that the

fellow ought to have known better. This "wedding gar-

ment" calls to mind the preparation of our souls neces-

sary to join in the great "wedding feast of the Lamb" (Rv

19:9), that is, heaven. This man was apparently just too

lazy to get ready. He presumed that having received an

invitation to the banquet was enough, that nothing was

required of him. Not so. He should have demonstrated

his gratitude by dressing appropriately. And what of the

first-string guests? Some were too busy to bother com-

ing; others were furious that they had been invited at

all. Now, where do we fit in? Are we more concerned

with worldly work than with spiritual growth? Are we

offended by the very suggestion that we might need to

"dress up" our souls? Or are we the disinterested Chris-

tian, willing to feast but too lazy to foster his faith? Je-

sus gave his life to open the gates of heaven for us. Let's

show our gratitude by preparing radiant, beautiful souls

worthy of the heavenly wedding feast.
