People of Our Parish

From Our Pastor:In the Gospel this Sunday, Saint Luke tells us the Good News, that Jesus Christ is

the Only Savior of the world (Luke 1:1-4, 4:14-21) Saint Luke knows that if people don’t hear about Jesus, they won’t be able to experience His salvation And so Saint Luke, having heard the Good News and been inspired by the Holy Spirit, proclaims the Good News for all people to realize the certainty of Jesus’ teachings The Holy Spirit inspired Saint Luke to write his Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles, giving him the gifts and talents he needed to achieve God’s plan for him, reaching billions of thirsty, searching souls throughout the centuries to this very day

God calls not only Saint Luke but every one of His disciples to proclaim the Gospel, to be evangelists The word “evangelist” means “a bearer of the Gospel” We are to be bearers of the Gospel, the Good News, instruments of Christ’s love and mercy in our words and deeds As members of Christ’s Body, the Church (1 Corinthians 12), we should be eager to bring as many people as possible into His Kingdom, to share the Faith with everyone we meet As Christians, may we always follow Jesus Christ and invite others to follow Him – for evangelizing, cultivating God’s Kingdom, isn’t a task just for priests and religious, but for every disciple of Jesus Christ Jesus and His Church teach us that the witness of love, which is the soul of the mission, concerns everyone – that serving the Gospel should not be considered a solitary adventure but a commitment to be shared by every person in every community Our identity as Catholic Christians should inform everything in our life – for being a Christian is not just something we do, it’s who we are Being an evangelist, a witness to and bearer of Christ’s love and mercy, means that everything we do is directed to cultivating His Kingdom Along the way, Jesus helps us to be evangelists by giving us His Church, Word, Teachings, Sacraments, gifts and fruits of His Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12; Isaiah 11; Galatians 5), prayer, and communion of saints As we celebrate Catholic Schools Week, may we also thank God for His gift of Catholic schools, here in Lancaster and throughout the world, that proclaim the Gospel and help prepare young people to be evangelists for Jesus Christ and His Church

As Catholic Christians, brothers and sisters in Christ, may we and all Christians renew our commitment to being evangelists, more consciously bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ into our daily life at home, work, school and in all of our relationships Through corporal and spiritual works of mercy and love, may we, by the grace of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, invite others to meet Jesus Christ, crucified and risen from the dead, in a life-changing and life-affirming way – and may He bring us all to Life Eternal in Heaven Amen

With peace and prayers in Christ,Fr. William

Corporal works of mercy: feed the hungry; give drink to the thirsty; clothe the naked; shelter the homeless; visit the sick; visit the imprisoned; and bury the dead Spiritual works of mercy: counsel the doubtful; instruct the ignorant; admonish sinners; comfort the sorrowful; forgive injuries; bear wrongs patiently; and pray for the living and the dead (See Matthew 25:31-46; Isaiah 58; Hebrews 13; Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1829 & 2447)

A DAY OF GIVING TO CATHOLIC SCHOOLSTwenty years ago, Saint Pope John Paul II said to an audience

of Catholic educators in New Orleans, “Yours is a great gift to the Church, a great gift to your nation” Countless people in our country have been blessed by the many gifts of Catholic schools They have carried what they have learned and witnessed with them; however, many have lost touch with our local Catholic school communities It is time for these people to reconnect with Catholic schools and give back It is with this recognition in mind that Saint Clement School is pleased to participate in “Many Gifts, One Nation: A Day of Giving to Catholic Schools” Scheduled for January 29, 2019, 12 PM EST to January 30, 2019 12 PM EST, this is a time for individuals to give to their local Catholic school Visit wwwNCEAorg/csw/manygifts to find the giving page link and search for Saint Clement School… Thank you and may God bless you!!!
