FOR THE RIDE HOME First Reading: Is 66: 10-14c Second Reading: Gal 6: 14-18 Gospel: Lk 10: 1-12
If Jesus sounds like he means business in this reading, he does! What matters most to him in the whole world is to make people understand that the reign of God is at hand. This is why he sends his disciples out in every direction. The harvest (people who have not heard the good news of the gospel) is ready right now. Jesus instructs the disciples to go quickly and travel light. They are to spread his peace, cure the sick, and proclaim the reign of God. At this time, Jesus had seventy-two disciples.
How many disciples does he have today? The
number is probably in the millions. What are
we, the disciples of Jesus, doing today to
announce the kingdom of God?
How are we carrying out Jesus' message of love
and peace and justice and hope in our world
today?

FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
“Mercy is the force that reawakens us to new life and instills in us the courage to look to the future with hope” - Pope Francis
**One Faith, Family and Community is the theme around which we are sharing the inspiring story of the Catholic Ministries Appeal. **As One Faith Family, we are called as a community to show mercy to others as Pope Francis has asked us to do in this extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. **Supporting the Catholic Ministries Appeal gives each of us a remarkable opportunity to “show mercy to others” and touch the lives of so many who are in our family of faith and in our community—a neighbor in need of food or shelter, a young man or woman finding their way to God through our youth or campus ministry programs, or a deacon or seminarian studying to serve in our Diocese.
Did you know because of the Catholic Ministries Appeal last
year…. We delivered or served more than 550,000 meals to senior
citizens and young families. Parish outreach centers, including our food pantries, assisted
more than 100,000 families. Our Office of Hospital Ministry served more than 300,000
people in local hospitals. 12,000 volunteer Catechists taught Religious Education to
more than 110,000 of our children in public schools. In our 133 Parishes there were more than 17,000 Baptisms,
17,000 First Communions, 19,000 Confirmations and 3,000
Weddings. We provided safe and affordable housing for struggling
seniors through 15 housing facilities with more than 1,200
affordable apartments. Our parish received a cash rebate of more than $10,000
which helped to offset expenses needed to maintain our
building and to fund the many programs we offer. Please consider making a pledge to this most worthy charity.
We need the help of every parish family to reach our goal of
$50,800. You have until January 31, 2017 to pay off your pledge.
No down payment is necessary. The Diocese will send monthly
reminders. Keep in mind this is not a legal document. If you feel
you cannot keep up your payments, simply discontinue them.
To help you decide here are some suggested gift plans: **$120 pledge—$20 per month, ** $60 pledge—$10 per month
**One time payment = any amount
Whatever you are able to give, large or small, will be accepted
gratefully. Please keep in mind your gift is payable over ten
months.
To make a pledge, simply fill out the form below and place it in
the collection basket or mail it back to the parish office.

THIS WEEKEND ….Propagation of the Faith —July 2nd & 3rd
This weekend Sr. Rosa Kajuju and Sr. Faith Ngugi of the Sisters of Mary Immaculate will be speaking at all Masses.
The Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Nyeri is a women religious community that was founded in Kenya by Bishop Filipo Perlo and three founding members in 1918. In founding the congregation, Bishop Perlo, an Italian missionary, believed that anyone who would become part of the new community would walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ in caring for the poor, the most needy, and those who were suffering. Today, more than 400 sisters actively serve in teaching, healthcare, pastoral duties, and a variety of social ministries in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Italy and the U.S. The sisters currently staff and provide administration for ten primary and three secondary schools throughout East Africa. Additionally, the sisters maintain three orphanages, two hospitals and five clinics in the region. The sisters also provide vocational training through three skill-development centers .Thanks for helping us to continue with this mission through your support.
