Discover the beautiful landscapes of the Fronsadais. This walk of 10.5 km takes you on the heights of Saint Aignan, between small woods and vines for a bucolic stroll.

1 From the car park entrance, walk along the vine plot. 2 Cross the departmental road (beware of traffic) and continue on the limestone pathway,3 then turn right on the road. You can see a footbath on your left and the Château l’Escarderie-vin (controlled designation of origin of Fronsac - organics)4 After the green signpost, turn left on the “Allée de l’Escarderie” and continue on the grassy path between the two edifices. On the right, the Château l’Escarderie-Chambres d’hôtes and its 19th century façade. Go under the footbridge and walk straight up through the woods.5 At the crossing, follow the signpost “Tour du Pays Fronsadais”, walk up the path, then follow the tarred path.6 At the intersection, turn left on the road.7 At the signpost, turn right towards “Tour du Pays Fronsadais” among the vines.8 At the signpost, turn right towards “BL de St Aignan”.9 Cross the road and continue among the vines.10 At the end turn right on the road, then at the crossroads, turn on the left.11 At the crossroad, go up to the romanesque church of Saint aignan (wc and water tap towards “salle des fêtes”). Magnificent cemetery cross away towards the abandoned house.12 At the Château tasta, turn right towards “BL de St Aignan”, continue on the grassy path. Go up through the woods and then walk along the vines.

Partez à la découverte des jolis paysages du Fronsadais. Cette randonnée de 10,5 km vous entraine sur les hauteurs de Saint Aignan, entre petits bois et vignes pour une balade bucolique.1 A l’entrée du parking, longez la parcelle de vigne.2 Traversez la route départementale (attention à la circulation) et continuez sur le chemin calcaire,3 puis à droite sur la route goudronnée. Vous verrez un pédiluve sur votre gauche et le château l’escarderie-vin (AOC Fronsac - bio).4 A la balise verte, tournez à gauche sur “l’Allée de l’Escarderie“ et continuez sur le chemin enherbé entre les deux bâtisses. A droite le château l’escarderie-chambres d’hôtes et sa façade du XIXème siècle. Passez sous la passerelle en fer et continuez tout droit la montée vers les bois.5 A l’intersection, suivez le panneau “Tour du Pays Fronsadais“, continuez sur le chemin qui monte, puis sur le chemin goudronné.6 A l’intersection, tournez à gauche sur la route.7 A la balise, tournez à droite direction “Tour du Pays Fronsadais” dans les vignes.8 A la balise, tournez à droite direction “BL de St Aignan”.9 Traversez la route et continuez dans les vignes.10 Au bout, prenez la route goudronnée à droite ; puis au croisement de suite à gauche.11 A l’intersection, continuez sur la route vers l’église romane de St Aignan (wc et eau direction salle des fêtes). magnifique croix de cimetière.12 Au château tasta, tournez à droite et suivre “BL de St Aignan”, continuez sur le chemin enherbé. Continuez la montée dans les bois puis longer les vignes.

13 At the signpost, follow the signpost “BL de St Aignan” towards the big oak tree. (When turning right towards Château Haut Mazeris, you can continue by “BL de Fronsac” See page 38 - point 15.)14 Cross the departmental road (beware the traffic), leave the Château La Valade on your right and continue straight ahead to the water tower.15 At the crossing, stay by the side of the road and go along the vine plot, then walk on the road until the water tower.16 Turn left on the path. Continue among the vines, not far on your right, vineyard huts and 2 windmill towers on the vineyard of Château Plain Point.17 Cross the road, Château Plain Point on your right hand and continue straight ahead towards “BL de St Aignan” .18 Cross the road and continue through the vines.7 At the intersection, turn left on the “Route de champignonnière”6 Turn right between the two farm building at “Chemin de cousin”5 Follow the signpost “Maison du Pays Fronsadais”.4 At the crossing on the road, turn right. At the STOP sign, continue straight ahead.3 Turn left straight away at “Chemin des vignes”2 At the end, cross the departmental road (beware of traffic) and go back to the car park walking along the vines.

13 A la balise, suivez “BL de St Aignan “ vers le grand chêne.(En prenant à droite vers le château haut mazeris, vous avez la possibilité de poursuivre sur la boucle de Fronsac. Voir page 38 - point 15.)14 Traversez la route départementale (attention au trafic), laissez le château la Valade sur votre droite et continuez tout droit vers le château d’eau.15 A l’intersection avec la route, restez sur le bas-côté droit et longez la parcelle de vigne, puis continuez sur la route jusqu’au château d’eau.16 Tournez à gauche sur le chemin. Poursuivez dans les vignes, non loin sur votre droite, des cabanes de vigne et les tours de 2 moulins à vent du château Plain Point.17 Traversez la route, le château Plain Point (sur votre droite) et poursuivez tout droit direction “BL de St Aignan”18 Traverser la route et continuer au milieu des vignes.7 Au croisement avec la route, tournez à gauche sur la “Route des champignonnières”.6 Entre les deux bâtiments agricoles tournez à droite au “Chemin de cousin”.5 Suivre la direction “Maison du Pays Fronsadais”.4 A l’intersection avec la route, prendre à droite. Continuez tout droit après le STOP.3 Prendre de suite à gauche le “Chemin des vignes”.2 Traversez la départementale (attention à la circulation) et rejoindre le parking en longeant les vignes.
