March 19— It’s our Parish Feast Day! PLEASE COME— Evening Prayer in Church at 6:30pm Followed by St. Joseph’s Table—Yummy goodies … In the Middle Ages there was a severe drought in Sicily. Prayers went up to St. Joseph for rain. Rains came, crops flourished, and a special cele-bration of the “St. Joseph’s Table” was laid out for all to share.

So come, share this ancient tradition made new. A special parish Joy!

Melt Us Mold Us Fill Us Use Us

Chart adapted from http://altarservers.sfaconcord.com/images/items/order-mass.jpg

Saint Joseph 101: Rooted in Holy Ground

Raise Us to New Life We rejoice in the completion of our Church Windows, especially as they bathe us in such beauty as we prepare for the Holy Season of Lent. Our first set of windows as we enter Church reminds us of our recent Centennial Celebration. Both the Burning Bush and the Tree in Full Blossom are, as shown, varieties of olive trees of the Holy Land. Their scrolls, written in Latin, translate to our 100th year motto:

Rooted in Holy Ground, Raise us to New Life. May these words be our prayer as we go Journey forward to the next 100 years!

This year our Lenten 101 Journey calls us to a deeper rooting in the Mystery of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Each week we will ponder a different part of the Mass connecting it with the Sunday gospel and with symbols displayed in front of the altar. On the First Sunday of Lent students of our parish Catechesis of the Good Shepherd will highlight various parts of the Mass through their active participation.

This Sunday the Little Black Lenten Reflection Books are available.

The Sunday reflections focus on the Corporal Works of Mercy while the weekday reflections focus

on the previous Sunday’s Gospel.

Let us pray for one another during these 40 days. Let us ask the Lord to Melt Us, Mold Us, Fill Us and Use Us to be ministers of New Life for one another and for the World.

S. Mary Ann
