Help Wanted: An Adorer is needed for the third Monday of each month,

As Respect Life Sunday (October 1) approaches, the Respect Life Ministry requests your help! Please join in praying for the preparations for this important day, for the protection of babies in the womb and for their families, and in thanksgiving to God for the gift of every human life. Please bring this intention to our Eucharistic Lord, as well as in your personal prayer life.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

During the September 13, 1917 apparition, Our Lady foretold a sequence of appearances that the children would see the following month:

“In October, Our Lord will come, as well as Our Lady of Dolours (sorrows) and Our Lady of Mount

Carmel. St. Joseph will appear with the Child Jesus to bless the world”

Watch the bulletin for details on our closing celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Apparitions and Miracle of Our Lady of

Dear Parish Family, Although September is nine months into the calendar year, most parishes run on a quasi-academic calendar. After the relative quiet of summertime, September brings with it not only the hint of a chill in the air, but also the feeling of freshness that comes with the beginning of a new year. Here at St. Paul, the excitement of new things is brewing, and it is going to be a great autumn! This weekend we celebrate Catechetical Sunday with its theme “Living As Missionary Disciples.” As we prepare for 1200 religious education children to return soon to their faith formation, let us thank God for all of the volunteer catechists and assistants who make this formation possible. Personally speaking, I never attended a Catholic school (until I entered the College Seminary when I was 19 years old). Outside of my family, the first place I learned about Christ was in a religious education program listening to volunteer catechists who loved me enough (and loved Christ enough) to dedicate their time to teaching me about Him. There are a few of them whose names I wish I remembered, but I pray for them and know that God knows who they are. As I said during a retreat morning to our Academy teachers and faculty last week, the children they teach and help to know Christ will be part of their glory in heaven! So I say the same to the catechists today: the souls that Christ is able to touch through their ministry will know them and thank them in the life of heaven, and as we know Heaven is the Goal! Special thanks also to Colleen Jagde and Lisa Oliviera for their dedication and hard work that pull it all together. Please keep our faith formation children in your prayers! If you‟ve been listening, watching and reading the bulletin (which I hope you are) then you know there are some other new ministries beginning to take shape here in our parish. It‟s always impressed me how much St. Paul offers to the men of the parish, and now we want to kick up our ministry to women a few notches. This weekend at all Masses, women from our newly forming Women’s Ministry will be speaking to let you know about this new initiative and outreach to the women of St. Paul. I hope many of the women of our parish, you and not as young, will take part! Also, I would like to thank Linda Chiapetta from St. Paul who last year attended a series of workshops at the Archdiocese of Newark Pastoral Center to prepare to lead our „resurrected‟ Bereavement Ministry. How crucial it is for our parish to support those who are grieving! Please call the Parish Center if you or someone you know might benefit from this support. I am also grateful to Anne Palladino who also attended workshops to prepare to lead a new support group for Divorced and Separated Catholics beginning in October. My parents were divorced when I was two years old, and so I know the pain of divorce from the inside. I am so grateful that we will be able to offer this initiative to those who have experienced this pain also, and who could benefit from having a safe place to share and heal. Please watch the bulletin for more information. I also wanted to draw your attention to our parish Music Ministry: I am grateful to Kristen for her leadership is trying to bolster our Children’s Choir so that, hopefully soon, they will be able to sing more frequently at the 9 AM Mass each Sunday. In my last parish (which was less than half the size of this one) we had four children‟s choirs! There‟s no reason in a parish this size that we can‟t have at least one dynamic choir that sings often! There must be many children and their families who LOVE MUSIC and would be willing to share that gift with our parish family. PLEASE PARENTS AND CHILDREN: COME AND SHARE THE MUSICAL GIFTS GOD HAS GIVEN YOU WITH OUR FAMILY! Contact Kristen after Mass or at the Parish Office for more information. There is so much more I could write today about new initiatives on our parish horizon, but space limitations make it impossible for now. Keep watching and listening, and most especially praying for the Holy Spirit to inspire within you the direction He wants you to go and the things He wants you to take part in. I look forward to seeing many of you at our Parish Picnic this weekend! As one poet wrote: “Ah, September! You are the doorway to the season that awakens my soul!” In His Love, Father John.

Please check your spam/junk folder for your correspondence as well. Kindly inform your family and friends that there is still time to register, word of mouth is the best marketing tool. Please know we cannot accommodate walk-in registration on the First Session Day(s). Completed Faith Formation Registration forms can be mailed in or dropped off at the Parish Office by September 18.
