Spend a week using different mediums of art. You will create projects that your parents will cherish forever. Cooking with Mrs. Gripp This summer we will be exploring things that you can “make and take” to eat with family and friends. Some things will be prepared in class to take home, like salsa and dill pickles. Other things will be prepared in class for the students to cook at home, like soup and cookies. Either way these recipes will be real crowd pleasers and easy recipes to follow that will surely impress. Legos with Ms. Vera Each day the class will be challenged to make magnificent creations for competitions against each other. There can be only one winner. We will create our own worlds where our creations will interact and participate in perilous adventures that not all will survive. Along the way we will learn how to build using basic Lego construction techniques. Then graduate to design your own incredible creations to populating Lego worlds during free play sessions. Lego worlds include Pirate, Castle, Space, City, Ocean, Super Hero and worlds of our own imagination. Each student will be given a boxed starter kit to begin their adventure and will be able to take it home. 10:30-12:15 Incoming Kindergarten Math and Language Arts with Mrs. Gripp In this fun and exciting class, incoming kindergarteners will work on number and letter recognition while they learn about farm animals. We’ll color, write, and tell stories, while we make new friends. Superheroes in Training with Mr. Jonathon Empower the superhero in you! Fly, swim, run, and learn what it takes to become one. Make capes, wristbands, and soar through class with your fellow heroes. Learn the basics and become all that you can be. Superheroes unite!!!
Sculpture with Mrs. Slater Sculpt with fun materials and create beautiful masterpieces. The projects will be teacher directed with the help of the child's imagination. Paper mache, plaster and clay will be the three mediums used. Grubbies should to be worn to class because we will be getting messy.
Week Two – June 27-July 1 8;30-10:15 Legos with Ms. Vera BE PART OF AN AWESOME ADVENTURE The class will embark on a quest to find and defeat the evil villain and liberate the people. Working in groups you will make awe-inspiring Lego creations to overcome any obstacles that the villain will place in your way. Each student will be given three Lego Hero characters to start their quest. Each day the class will be presented with challenges they must overcome to continue on the journey. Along the way we will learn the basic parts of a story and how to set up and act out the story with their creations. Olympics with Ms. Yanish Calling all Olympians! This summer are the Games of the XXXI Olympiad. Come join us as we learn the history of the Olympics, play Olympic games, cook Olympic inspired foods. Everyone is sure to finish with a gold medal!
10:30-12:15 Power Up with Mr. Jonathon With great power comes great responsibility. You've achieved the basics but it isn't enough to become the ultimate hero or the ultimate evil master mind you can be. Create and/or upgrade your abilities. Power up with masks, power bands, belts and gadgets. Take your skills to the next level. Will you unite all the heroes and be the greatest heroes the universe has seen or rule it as the most intelligent mastermind in the universe? You decide what path you'll take. Musical Theater with Mrs. Simone If you love to perform, this is the class for you! We will be singing and dancing to songs from some of the best musicals like “Into the Woods”, “Mary Poppins”, “Grease”, and “Singin in the Rain”. There will be a performance for friends and family on the last day of class. Printmaking with Mrs. Renn This super exciting class will explore so many different methods of printmaking! Respect Life Essay Contest
Get up to 4 parish hours done now for the 2016-2017 school year! The Respect Life Ministry is looking for parents who can help us with the judging of the Respect Life Essay Contest. Please note that we ask you not to judge the grade your student(s) is in. We need the following help: Round One: During the week of 5/9, we need parents to preview essays from each junior high homeroom (6A, 6B, 7A, 7B, 8A, and 8B) and give their opinion on which essays should proceed to round two, a group reading and evaluation. You can do one homeroom or more depending on how much time you would like to volunteer. You can pick up the essays today, tomorrow, or Weds. and return them with your evaluations by the end of the day, Friday 5/13. (You can pick them up from my home at 2133 San Pasqual St...4 min. from school or I can meet you at school on Tuesday at drop off or pick up.) Round Two: Another area in which you could volunteer is to participate in the group evaluations of the essays at Sheryl Valdez's house or Sarah DiCicco's house. We get together and read the essays out loud that have made it passed round one. Again, we ask that you do not volunteer for your student's grade. Our schedule will be as follows: Mon. 5/16 from 9-11AM: 6th grade essays (diCicco house 2136 San Pasqual St.91107) Weds. 5/18 from 9-11AM: 7th grade essays (Valdez house 2133 San Pasqual St. 91107) Thurs. 5/19 from 9-11AM: 8th grade essays (diCicco house 2136 San Pasqual St.91107) *We may need to finish up the following week if we don't finish the week of 5/16 so there could be more hours available then. Finally, we have some take home work the week of 5/23. If you have nice handwriting and have or can get a calligraphy pen, we need approximately 360 certificates of participation that need to be filled out with each student's name. You can pick them up Monday 5/23 (or I can meet you at school) and return them completed by Friday 5/27. Please email me if you’d like to help and in what way. Thank you for your help!
