“Jesús les preguntó: Y ustedes, ¿quién dicen que soy yo”. Pedro

contestó: “Tú eres el Mesías, el Hijo del Dios vivo”. (Mateo

16:15-16). Jesús lanza una pregunta fuera de serie que pone a

sus discípulos a pensar en realidad quién es Él. Gracias a esa

pregunta, Pedro confirma su fe y se afianza como roca firme de

la Iglesia. Desde entonces hasta ahora, el sucesor de Pedro, el

Papa en Roma, es piedra, roca firme, que impulsa a la Iglesia a

la fidelidad.

SARY ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH AT 6:00 PM at St. Rose of Lima. We will meet in the entry courtyard of the Church. (We will meet inside the Church in the event of inclement weather.) Social dis-tancing will be observed and masks are required.

THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS MEMBERSHIP MEETING IS ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST AT 7:00PM in the social center. All Knights are requested to attend this meeting. We will finalize our budget for the 2020-21 fraternal year. Please come and be involved in your council. Social distancing will be observed and masks are re-quired. We are inviting GOOD CATHOLIC MEN 18 years of age or older who are in good standing with the Catholic Church and want to be a better Catholic man to join the Knights of Columbus. Due to the on-going pandemic, we are planning for a very different Christian Formation program in the 2020 – 2021 year. We will still be helping your children grow in faith and we will still be preparing them to receive the sacraments. To keep them safe, we won’t be having them come in for classes.

After you register your child, they will receive a textbook for the year. The book includes five sections with five lessons each. You will be help-ing your child work on the lessons at your home. To help you prepare we will hold a parent meeting approximately once a month. At the parent meeting we will go over all of the important information for the upcoming set of lessons. The meetings will be held in the Social Center so that you can be socially distanced and they will be offered on-line if you prefer to not come in.

During the month Saint Rose catechists will be available via email or telephone to answer any questions you might have. We have heard of other parishes which have successfully used this new method of Christian Formation. At first the parents are hesitant, but most of them reported that they enjoyed sharing their faith with their children. Families report being closer together and growing closer to God. For children who are preparing for sacraments, we will also have some in-person sessions. Children who are preparing for First Holy Communion will come in to meet with a catechist once a month. These days are marked in yellow on the calendar.

Children who are in their second year of preparation for Confirma-tion will come in once a month for an in person session with a catechist. Those days are marked in blue on the calendar. We will have an orientation meeting for parents on Sunday, August 23, 2020. The meeting will be held in person in the Social Center or you can participate on-line. The meeting will be held in Spanish at 9:30am and in English at 11:30am participation in the meeting is mandatory be-cause that’s where we’ll be explaining the program in more detail.

If you know children who weren’t in Christian Formation last year, but

who want to register this year, please have them contact Karina

Mendoza at the parish office at 801-544-4269.

Debido a la continua pandemia, estamos planeando un programa de Formación Cristiana muy diferente para este próximo año 2020-2021. Nosotros seguiremos ayudando a sus hijos( as) a crecer en la fe y los seguiremos preparando para recibir los Sacramentos. Para mantenerlos a salvo, no los haremos venir a los salones de clases. Después de que ustedes inscriban a su hijo(a), ellos recibirán un libro de texto para el año. El libro incluye cinco sesiones con cinco lecciones cada una. Ustedes ayudarán a su hijo (a) a trabajar en las lecciones en su hogar.

Para ayudarlos a ustedes a prepararse, tendremos una reunión de padres de familia aproximadamente una vez al mes. En esta reunión repasaremos toda la información importante para el próximo conjunto de lecciones del mes. Las reuniones se llevarán a cabo en el Salón Social para que podamos distanciarnos socialmente y también se ofrecerá en línea si prefiere no venir en persona. Durante el mes, los catequistas de Santa Rosa estarán disponibles por correo electrónico o por teléfono para responder cualquier pregunta que puedan tener.

Hemos oído hablar de otras parroquias que han utilizado con éxito este nuevo método para el programa de Formación Cristiana. Al principio, los padres dudan poder hacer este nuevo método, pero la mayoría de ellos informaron que disfrutaban compartir su fe con sus hijos. Las familias también informaron estar más cerca el uno al otro y se sienten más cerca a Dios. Para los niños(as) que se preparan para los Sacramentos, también tendremos algunas sesiones en persona. Los niños(as) que se preparan para el Sacramento de la Primera Comunión vendrán a reunirse con un catequista una vez al mes. Estos días están marcados en amarillo en el calendario. Los jóvenes que están en su segundo año de preparación para el Sacramento de la Confirmación vendrán una vez al mes para una sesión en persona con un catequista. Esos días están marcados en azul en el calendario. Tendremos una reunión de orientación para todos los padres de familia el día Domingo 23 de Agosto del 2020. La reunión se realizará en per-sona en el Salón Social o pueden participar en línea. La reunión se llevará a cabo en español a las 9:30 a.m. y en inglés a las 11:30 a.m. La participación en la reunión es obligatoria porque allí es donde explicare-mos el programa con más detalle.

Si ustedes conocen a niños(as) que no estuvieron en el programa de

Formación Cristiana el año pasado, pero que desean inscribirse este

año, se les pide a ellos que por favor llamen a Karina Mendoza a la

We are beginning Phase III on the weekend of September 5th & 6th. In this phase, we will permit 100 or less parishioners into the celebration of the Eucharist. For weekdays and weekend Masses, you will no longer

need to call to reserve seating. For contact tracing, we will ask for your full name and

telephone number when you enter the Church Then you will be led by an Usher/Minister of Hospitality

to your seats If we reach capacity of 100, we will need to close our

doors so please come early. If the numbers increase, we will need to add another

Mass. Wear a mask at all times, maintain 6 feet distancing and wash your hands thoroughly!
