Stewardship Consider On-Line Giving
Are you aware that you can give online through your checking, debit or credit card accounts? It is a simple and efficient way to fulfill your stewardship commitment. It also benefits
St. Rose by knowing what regular income to expect each weekend, so that we can meet our financial obligations. To enroll in online giving, go to www.saintroseoflima.com and click on the top right tab that says “Give.”
Thank you!

By the Grace of God… Public Masses to resume on the Solemnity of Pentecost,
May 30 - 31, 2020
By the grace of God, the spread of the Coronavirus has slowed sufficiently so as to allow us to return to church and to the public celebration of the Liturgy. Governor Baker has implemented Phase One of the reopening of Massachusetts, allowing for gatherings of people up to forty percent of a building’s capacity, including churches. However, some restrictions remain for the common good. Bishop McManus has stated in his letter to the diocese, “I caution all priests to carefully observe the restrictions which continue to be imposed by government authorities in the interest of public health. This joy we feel during the first phase of resumption of our ecclesial life must be balanced by a concern for the common good, as we continue to do everything possible to further stem the spread of this disease.” We have all experienced the “new normal” of frequently washing hands for 20 seconds, of wearing face coverings, of social distancing, and of limiting the number of people in a building. This “new normal” is applied to our churches, too. This is not only for our own health, but of others as well. In the best interest of our Catholic communities of St. Bernadette and St. Rose of Lima, following the pastoral consultation of both pastors and their respective parish staffs, public Masses will resume on Pentecost Sunday weekend, May 30 - 31, 2020. Please consult the parish website and Flocknotes for dates and times of Masses, and for diocesan guidelines for the celebration of Mass. Bishop McManus has implemented liturgical adaptations for the celebration of Mass and the sacraments, careful to follow regulations for public safety. In preparation for resuming public Masses on Pentecost, our parish staff is in the process of preparing our church to meet the government restrictions and the liturgical guidelines. This includes: welcoming people to 40% of church capacity, wearing a required face covering in church during the entire Mass, removed only for the reception of the Eucharist, (those age two and younger are exempt from wearing a face covering), public health preference for receiving Holy Communion in the hand, marking the floor and pews for 6 ft social distancing, the removal of all hymnals, no congregational singing allowed, choirs are not to be restored, cantor and organist may lead the music, and all pews, door handles, door knobs and bathrooms are to be sanitized after every Mass. Let us rekindle the hope we share, professing our faith in the risen Lord. Fr. Houston & Fr. Falco
Prayer for Pentecost
Breath of Life, on this Pentecost Sunday, we ask that You breathe on us once again. Make our consciences tender to Your touch. We hunger for the life-changing power that Your Holy Spirit brings. May our lives exemplify the fruit of Your Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. May we use the gifts of the Spirit that You have distributed to bless the church and build Your Kingdom on earth. Amen.

St. Rose Challenge– Week 6
Put your faith into action!
Our week six challenge will be to record a video message to our high school graduates. This has been a challenging time for all in many ways and we want to show our high school graduates how much we care about them. Your message should be one of congratulations and well wishes. Please use the link; https://app.vidhug.com/2020-graduates-/rk0cUPpoL/record to record your message.
We encourage all ages to participate! This video will be shared next week on the parish website, and at the end of the recorded Mass on Sunday, June 7th. All recordings must be submitted by Thursday, June 5th. Make sure to watch for next week's challenge!
Tired of being stuck in the house?
Step outside and help plant the St. Rose Community Garden
Our community garden is back for the 2020 season! In a time when food insecurity is increasing in the Northborough community, the produce from the garden is needed more than ever. We are in the process of readying the garden for planting and will be holding a Planting Day on Saturday, 5/30 (rain date is 5/31). In order to accommodate social distancing restrictions, we will be planting in two shifts: 10:00-12:00 and 1:00-3:00. Each shift will plant alternate rows and only one individual or family will plant in a given row. Gardeners should wear masks and gloves. If you would like to help out, please sign-up in advance. In John’s Gospel the disciples are hiding behind locked doors because of fear of their enemies. When Jesus comes, they are
calmed. He gives them the power to give peace to others by forgiving their sins. - Family Faith on the Go
The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit At Pentecost the Holy Spirit was sent down to Mary and the apostles, and we recognize that day as the day the Church was born. When Catholics are confirmed, the gifts of the
Holy Spirit are sealed into their hearts to allow us to become witnesses for Christ.
Wisdom: The ability to see things from all sides, to understand the
whole picture.
Understanding: The ability to see from another person’s “heart”, to feel the feelings of others and to put these before our own.
Knowledge: The gift of objectivity, of seeing the things around us as
they really are, rather than as we would like them to be.
Fortitude (Courage): The strength to do what is right despite ob-stacles and difficulties.
Counsel (Right Judgment): Allows us to see a situation clearly, view the options and make a clear choice. It also helps us seek
advice from those who have more experience.
Piety (Reverence): Helps us see the value of every person and thing God has created.
Fear of the Lord (Wonder and Awe): Tells us that God created the beauty of the universe, but also that he listens to us, cares for us
and loves us beyond measure.
Activities about Pentecost for Families:
Pentecost headbands: Using construction paper and tape, make a headband about 1 inch wide. Cut out and attach a flame-shaped “tongue of fire” from orange or red paper. On the flame write “They were filled with the Holy Spirit.” Ribbon mobile: Make a ribbon mobile for your child’s room. Each ribbon tied on could represent a prayer or person for whom you are praying.
We need your help….
We have different teams of volunteers ready to usher and clean the building after each Mass. If you would like to be part of this ministry please call the parish office at :508-393-2413 and your name will be added to the ministry. Training will be provided. Thank you !!

Youth Group meetings and events.
All Youth Events are postponed until further notice.
Youth Group goes Virtual…. Join us every Monday evening at 7:00 PM as all high school students are invited to attend. Students should check their email for meeting details. Contact Stephen Lavoie at [email protected] with any questions.
What do we do when we can’t go to Mass? Watch or listen to a broadcast of the Mass, pray, and engage in spiritual reading.
Prayer of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I you above all things and I desire
to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I
embrace you as if you were already there, and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you.
Amen.
New: Online Faith Sharing Groups
Have you been happy to connect to the Saint Rose Mass but miss the community? Would you like to take the next step and explore, in community, how the Sunday scripture can help us to navigate our lives during these days of crisis and isolation?
Saint Rose of Lima invites you to join us as we take our faith sharing experience online. Whether you’ve experienced one of our faith sharing groups in the past or whether this is completely new to you, we encourage you to give it a try. This is an opportunity to connect with others in our faith community, grow deeper and wider in your faith and consider the current challenges in our lives through the lens of faith.
The virtual small faith community groups meet on Thursday evenings from 7-8:00 pm. Each session will begin with an opportunity to connect and catch up with the group. We will then seek to dive deeper into the previous Sunday’s gospel (and Fr. Jim’s homily), reflecting on its meaning for our lives today. Come for all 6 weeks or join us for as many as you are able. Zoom video conferencing will be used for these sessions. All that is needed is access to an iPad, iPhone, laptop, or desktop computer, an open mind and Spirit. We are also starting a women’s only faith sharing group, meeting date TBD. For more information, or to join either group, please visit our website to register:
