WHAT IS A CATECHIST?
The word “catechist” comes from the Greek word
“echo”. Catechists echo the Word of God to our
parish children. They come from all walks of life
and all ages: women, men, parents, grandparents, con-
firmed teenagers. Catechists are people, just like you, who
generously volunteer their time to share our Catholic faith
and values with our younger brothers and sisters. They are
positive role models who help children grow in faith and
spirituality. What an important ministry! Through the
words and actions of our catechists, the Good News contin-
ues to spread throughout the world.
TOP REASONS TO BECOME A CATECHIST!
You will grow in your own faith, learn the teachings of
the Church and deepen your relationship with Jesus.
- Your Baptism calls you to share in the ministry of Jesus.
- Children, teens and adults in today’s world need to hear
the Word of God.
- Children, teens and adults need good role models of faith.
-You have much to share with those you will teach and
share your faith with others.
- You will be challenged; you will have fun and make new
friends.
- You will help others deepen their relationship with Jesus.
You will be an evangelizer!
- You will be handing down a 2000 year old tradition that
changes life.
- It is our job: Jesus sent us to “go and teach all nations.
Are you interested in sharing your faith with the younger
members of our parish? Phone PREP: 732.251.1660.
