THE PETROLEUM FIELDS. as! week's developments in the various oil fields resulted In no extraordinary strikes, Operations in practically all districts were restricted to some ex- tent, and all of the wells brought In were in Well defined territory. There Is \u25a0 large amount of work under way, however, and the spring and summer are likely to witness greater activity in all fields. In the lower Southwest few large producers we com- pleted during the week. Roane and Lincoln coun- ties furnished the greater number of completions, and most of the wells brought in were producers. In Southeastern Ohio several small producers rang- ing from ten to thirty barrels are reported, In Washington County the Carter Oil Company*« No. 8 held at l" barrels a day. while the other wells re- cently reported also are holding out well. In the Illinois field considerable work Is contemplated dur- Ing the BprlnK and summer. In Robinson district operators are making preparations for active work, and numerous locations for wells have been staked out. While the pipe Unas m-<» not yet able to handle the entire product of the fields, still operations are going on in the expectation that the tidewater line will soon be completed. In Oblong Township. Crawford County, a gusher was drilled in which made 391 barrels In the first twenty-four hours. In various parts of the" district a number of smaller producers were reported. Operations in the mid- continent fields were rather Inactive and not at- tended with any striking results. In the Nowata district several dusters were reported. In the Mus- kogee &e\eral good producers were brought In. and Indications point to other good producers In the near filters. Refined petroleum at New York la quoted at 5.50 cents in barrels and 5 cents in hulk; Phila- delphia prices on a basis 5 points lower. European prices follow: London. 6 U-16d per Imperial gallo.'; Antwerp. 21>4 francs per 100 kilos, and Bremen, 6.35 marks per 60 kilos. THE PETROLEUM FIELDS.as! week's developments in the various oil fields

resulted In no extraordinary strikes, Operations in

practically all districts were restricted to some ex-tent, and all of the wells brought In were in Welldefined territory. There Is \u25a0 large amount of work

under way, however, and the spring and summerare likely to witness greater activity in all fields. In

the lower Southwest few large producers we com-

pleted during the week. Roane and Lincoln coun-ties furnished the greater number of completions,

and most of the wells brought in were producers.In Southeastern Ohio several small producers rang-

ing from ten to thirty barrels are reported, InWashington County the Carter Oil Company*« No. 8

held at l" barrels a day. while the other wells re-

cently reported also are holding out well. In the

Illinois field considerable work Is contemplated dur-

Ing the BprlnK and summer. In Robinson districtoperators are making preparations for active work,

and numerous locations for wells have been stakedout. While the pipe Unas m-<» not yet able to handle

the entire product of the fields, still operations are

going on in the expectation that the tidewater line

will soon be completed. In Oblong Township.

Crawford County, a gusher was drilled in which

made 391 barrels In the first twenty-four hours. Invarious parts of the" district a number of smaller

producers were reported. Operations in the mid-

continent fields were rather Inactive and not at-

tended with any striking results. In the Nowata

district several dusters were reported. In the Mus-kogee &e\eral good producers were brought In. andIndications point to other good producers In the

near filters.Refined petroleum at New York la quoted at

5.50 cents in barrels and 5 cents in hulk; Phila-delphia prices on a basis 5 points lower. European

prices follow: London. 6 U-16d per Imperial gallo.';

Antwerp. 21>4 francs per 100 kilos, and Bremen,

6.35 marks per 60 kilos.
