The Points start with the Championship Show in December of one year and include the subsequent OpenShows.

DEFINITIONS OF CLASSES

In the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that counts towards the title ofChampion under the Rules of any governing body recognised by The Kennel Club. Wins at ChampionshipShows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted as wins at OpenShows. In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members' classes or competing forMembers' Specials each partner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society. In estimating thenumber of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of entriesshall be counted when entering for any class i.e. 2nd November 2013. Wins in Variety classes do not countfor entry in Breed classes but when entering in Variety classes, wins in both Breed and Variety classes mustbe counted. A first prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value. If an exhibitor reports before thejudging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, the exhibitor may choose one ofthe following options:- (1) Withdrawal The dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to theconditions of Regulations 9(j) and 20. (2) Transfer a) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards itscolour, sex, weight or height the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for thecorrect colour, sex, weight or height and, in the event of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy andPuppy excepted to the Open class for the correct colour, sex, weight or height. b) For an exhibit enteredincorrectly in a Minor Puppy Class, Puppy Class or Junior Class, which is over age but under twelve calendarmonths of age, eighteen calendar months of age or twenty-four calendar months of age respectively, theShow Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy Class, Junior Class or Yearling Class respectively forthe correct colour, sex, weight or height and in the event of there being no Puppy, Junior or Yearling Class tothe Open class for the correct colour, sex, weight or height. c) For any reason other than the above, theShow Secretary shall transfer It to the Open class for the correct colour, sex, weight or height. d) If an exhibitarrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dog may not betransferred to any other class.MINOR PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.JUNIOR For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.YEARLING for dogs of twelve and not exceeding twenty four calendar months of age on the first day of the show.MAIDEN For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or a first prize at an Open or Championship Show(Minor Puppy, Special Minor Puppy, Puppy and Special Puppy classes excepted, whether restricted or not).NOVICE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or three or more First Prizes at Open andChampionship Shows (Minor Puppy, Special Minor Puppy, Puppy and Special Puppy classes excepted, whetherrestricted or not).GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or four or more First Prizes at ChampionshipShows in Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit or Open classes, whether restricted or not whereChallenge Certificates were offered for the breed.POST GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more First Prizes atChampionship Shows in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restricted or notwhere Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.LIMIT For dogs which have not become show Champions under the Kennel Club Regulations or under the rulesof any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club or won 7 or more First Prizes in all at ChampionshipShows in Limit or Open Classes confined to the Breed, whether restricted or not at Shows where ChallengeCertificates were offered for the breed.MID LIMIT For dogs which have not become show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rulesof any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club or won five or more First Prizes in all at ChampionshipShows in Mid Limit, Limit or Open Classes confined to the breed, whether restricted or not, at shows whereChallenge Certificates were offered for the breed.OPEN For all dogs of the breed for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show.SPECIAL VETERAN (Classes 3 & 15) For dogs of not less than seven years of age and under ten years of age on thefirst day of the Show.SPECIAL VETERAN (Classes 4 & 16) For dogs of not less ten years of age on the first day of the Show.STUD DOG For stud dogs and at least two progeny of which only the progeny must be entered and exhibited ina breed class at the Show.BROOD BITCH For Brood Bitches and at least two progeny of which only the progeny must be entered and exhibited in a breed class at the Show.NOT FOR COMPETITION Societies may at their discretion, accept Not for Competition entries. Societies may accept such entries from breeds of dog not included within the title of the Society and at Shows held over more than one day, such entries may be accepted on any day from any breed. DOGS MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THEIR FULL DETAILS RECORDED ON THE ENTRY FORM

RULES & REGULATIONS

1. The Show will open at 9.00a.m.2. Dogs will be received until 11.30 a.m. and after which no dogs may be received except under

unforeseen and exceptional circumstances and by special permission of the Show Management

3. Judging will not commence before 10.00 a.m. 4. Exhibits may be removed from the show after their judging has been completed The Show will

close half an hour after all judging has been completed.5. The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of the tenting and benching areas is forbidden

except as authorised by the Show Management. 6. Entry Fees: Members First Entry £16.00 per dog, subsequent entries £2.00 with the same dog.

Non-Members First Entry £18.00 per dog, subsequent entries £3.00 with the same dog. Not forCompetition £2.00 per dog. Catalogues £3.00 prepaid (£4.00 on the day) Membership Fees £7 Single £7.50 Joint

7. There will be no prize money on offer at this show. 8. The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries. 9. Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the show are not eligible for

exhibition. 10. The mating of bitches within the precincts of the show is forbidden. 11. Best Puppy in Show Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in

Show is a puppy which has competed and is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at thesame show. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on thefirst day of the Show. Where the Best in Show is a puppy it will automatically be Best Puppy inShow respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beatenby an adult dog it will also automatically be Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently,selection of Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best in Show respectively. BestPuppy in Show must be selected from puppies which have been judged and which areunbeaten by any other puppy. Withdrawal from Other Competition. Puppies which becomeeligible for Best Puppy in Show maybe withdrawn from all other competition, other than BreedClasses, prior to the competition for Best Puppy in Show in order to remain unbeaten. A puppybeaten in competition for Best Puppy in Show may subsequently be exhibited in allcompetition for which it was previously eligible. The dog declared Best Puppy in Show,however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Proviso For the purpose of thisRegulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team ora Special Award confined to one breed will not be considered to be a beaten dog.

12. Best in Show. The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten byany other dog exhibited at the same Show.Best in Show must be selected from the exhibitsdeclared Best of Sex providing they are unbeaten winning dogs. Reserve Best in Show must beselected from the Best Opposite Sex and the Reserve Best of Sex to the exhibit declared Best inShow. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show must not compete in anysubsequent competition. Withdrawal from other competition. Dogs which become eligible forBest in Show maybe withdrawn from all other competition other than breed classes prior tothe competition for Best in Show as appropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten incompetition for Best in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it waspreviously eligible. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show however, mustnot compete in any subsequent competition. Proviso For the purposes of this Regulation, dogsbeaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Awardconfined to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs.

13. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in show competition after a period of ten minutes haselapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless that have beenunavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with thespecial permission of the show management.

14. No modifications will be made to this schedule except by permission of the GeneralCommittee of The Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Presswherever possible.

15. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B)Regulations for the

Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 16. All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete

number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without anAuthority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.

17. Dogs in Cars on Hot Days Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the KennelClub offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling toand whilst at KC licensed events.• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the showis on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is agood idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken,with lots of water available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing airaround the dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade – take your own shade for example a large umbrella and alwayshave plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight forextended lengths of time.Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and thiscould lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG ISFOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUTLIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensedevent should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and shouldnot put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breachof Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee fordisciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Right to Refuse Entries. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have theright under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry.

18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recordedon the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered.

19. The Committee will be most anxious for the care and safety of all dogs entered for exhibitionand for any property entrusted to it, but it must be clearly understood by exhibitors and anyother persons that the Committee will not be responsible for the entire or partial loss ordetention of or damage to any dog or person from any cause whatsoever, nor for any act oromission of themselves, their officers, servants, agents or others, and it is on thisunderstanding only that entries are received.

20. The Committee of this show cannot be held responsible for products advertised or sold bystandholders at the show, and remind exhibitors that such products may not meet therequirements of the Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

21. No animal other than exhibits are allowed within the precincts of the show during itscontinuance without the proper authority.

22. Should any judge be prevented from fulfilling their engagement, the Committee reserve theright to appoint a substitute judge, subject to the terms of Kennel Club regulations.

23. Should any question arise not provided for in these rules, the Committee decision shall befinal, subject to appeal to the Kennel Club.

24. The Committee is empowered to exclude or remove any dog which is not in a fit state forexhibition either from disease, vice or any other cause.

25. Exhibitors/handlers are responsible for clearing up and removing any loose hair or fouling fromdogs in their charge, or any other litter, whether from the car park, the exercise area or from any other part of the venue.

26. Owners, handlers, exhibitors or any other person in charge of a dog at a Kennel Club licensedevent must ensure at all times that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensedvenue including its environs, car parks and approaches.

27. A dog may be disqualified by the General Committee from any award, whether an objectionhas been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been registered or recorded as

having been bred by the scheduled judge. This shall not apply to a judge appointed in anemergency.

28. Soft Crates: The Kennel Club has drawn attention to the potential health and safetyimplications concerning the use of soft crates at shows as in its view, they do not offersufficient protection to dogs. Soft crates left unattended at the ringside are a potential hazardparticularly when occupied by large breeds, and it has been known for dogs to becomedistressed and move soft crates along the floor and also escape. Soft crates should only beused when there is sufficient room available and when they can be safely secured.

29. Each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own crate or cage identification detailing thatexhibit number, this should be displayed at all times The original exhibit number as providedby the Show Society must not be used for this purpose.

30. It will be deemed that owners of dogs entered at the show will have no objections to theirexhibits being videoed unless otherwise stated at the time of entry

PLEASE KEEP THIS VENUE CLEANAn EXERCISE AREA is provided and owners or handlers whose dogs foul the Showground or surrounding areawill be expect to CLEAR UP ANY FOULING BY THE DOGS IN THEIR CHARGE. REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F (B)

1. These regulations must be observed when a dog is prepared for exhibition and/or exhibited at anyKennel Club licensed event. Objections may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinaryaction under these show regulations and/or for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rule A42.a) a dog found to have been exhibited in breach of these regulations will automatically be disqualifiedfrom exhibition at the show and from any award gained there at.b) Unless the exhibitor provides a satisfactory explanation for the dog being exhibited in breach ofthese regulations then he/she may be subject to further penalties of either a fine or as listed underRule A42

2. (a) No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may be present in thedog’s coat for any purpose at any time during the show. No substance which alters the natural colourof any external part of the dog may be present on the dog for any purpose at any time during theshow.(b) Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of a dog forexhibition must not be allowed to remain in the coat or on any other part of the dog at the time ofexhibition.

3. No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereof may beperformed except (a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee.(b) the removal of dew claws of any breed(c) The shortening of tails of customarily docked breeds but only up to an acceptable age limit whichshall be prescribed from time to time. (d) Operations to prevent breeding provided that such operations are notified to the Kennel Clubbefore neutered dogs are shown. Nor must anything be done calculated to in the opinion of theGeneral Committee to deceive.

4. The General Committee without previous notice may order an examination of any dog or dogs at anyshow. Any examination thus ordered will be made by a person having executive authority who shallhave a written directive from the Kennel Club in their possession. Samples may be taken for furtherexamination and analysis.

5. An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner or handler of adog competing in the same breed or class. An objection may however, be lodged by an official of theshow or by anyone so deputed by the Kennel Club. It will be the responsibility of the individual wholodges the objection or the official (as appropriate), to substantiate the grounds for the objection. TheKennel Club will substantiate the grounds for an objection made on its behalf.

6. Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations must be made in writingto the Show Secretary at his/her office before the close of the show and the individual must produceevidence of identity at the time of lodging the complaint.

The Breeders’ Competition offers the following Awards:Best Breeder in Breed/AVNSC classes 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

Best Breeder in Group 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.Grand Final at Crufts 2014

The following requirements apply to entries for these awards:1. Breeders wishing to enter the competition should first purchase a Breeders CompetitionRecord Book from the Kennel Club or from the show secretary.2. The Breeder enters for the award in his/her name and is responsible for arranging whichexhibits form their breeder group, or team3. The Breeder must complete the Record Book accurately with all necessary detailsbefore presenting it to the show organisers.4. The Breeder is responsible for obtaining the necessary authority to compete from theshow organisers (or designated official such as the Ring Steward) to compete for theaward.5. The Breeder’s team must consist of a minimum of three and a maximum of four dogs ofthe same breed, all of which must be entered in a class at the show.6. A Breeder may enter more than one team per show.7. All dogs must have the same registered breeder.8. The ‘beaten dog’ rule will NOT apply.9. Best Breeder in Breed and Best Breeder in AVNSC Classes goes through to a BestBreeder in Group award.10. Breeders acquire points in competition over a calendar year as follows:Best Breeder in Breed/AVNSC Classes 3 pointsSecond place Breeder in Breed/AVNSC Classes 2 pointsThird place Breeder in Breed/AVNSC Classes 1 pointBest Breeder in Group 4 pointsSecond place Breeder in Group 3 pointsThird place Breeder in Group 2 pointsFourth place Breeder in Group 1 pointThe Breeders who have amassed a minimum of 25 points over a calendar year willqualify for the Final/Semi-final in the following year. It is not a requirement to withdrawfrom the competition upon reaching 25 points. At the end of the competition year inquestion, Breeders should forward their record books to the Canine ActivitiesDepartment at the Kennel Club which will advise whether they have qualified for theCrufts Final.
