Food waste.

Australians discard up to 20% of the food they purchase. This equates to 1 out of every 5 bags of groceries they buy. This is $1036 dollars worth of food each year.

Problems to solve food waste

Oz harvest are a group of people who find unwanted food and give it to homeless people who have no homes of food. They rescue 52 tonnes of food every week. Imagine if we had more groups like this we would be rescuing thousands of tonnes of food every week.

How much we could be saving

Tens or even hundreds of billions of dollars in food could be saved if consumers were more careful on how they plan their meals.

The amount of food being wasted every day is 1.3 billion tonnes but it is increasing rapidly all the time. It will keep getting larger unless we do something about it.

Fashion waste 1.2million tonnes of clothing went to

landfill in 2005 in the UK alone.

It is possible for the fashion businesses to take effective steps to reduce the environmental footprint, and that of the industry as a whole, in terms of energy waste.

Solutions for fashion waste The more clothing we waste the more

pollution there is in the world. We could solve this problem by.

Handing down unwanted cloths. Giving your clothing to stores like

Vinnie’s. This recycling is what decreases our

fashion waste.

Organic bamboo fibre Organic bamboo fibre a very soft, 100%

biodegrable fibre that grows naturally without the need for pesticides or fertilizers. The reason this is fashion waste friendly is because when it is being wasted it will turn into soil and wont be a threat to the environment.

Act now for the cause If everyone can implement

some of these ideas we will be reducing a lot of the clothing we own and stopping the planet from becoming polluted with land fill.
