The auspicious days of Diwali are back again! Friends, as all of us know, we call Diwali the Festival of Light and the house of every Indian illuminates with beautiful lamps in these days.

According to the Indian traditions, Diwali is celebrated as the symbol of the happiness when Lord Rama killed Ravana and returned to Ayodhya with Sita and Lakshman after their exile was over.

Well, all of us know it. Let’s peep into the subtle thoughts after the celebration of Diwali!

The victory of Rama over Ravana symbolizes the victory of the good over the evil. Ravana was very learned, but his downfall came when his life got diverted to negative thoughts. Hence, mere knowledge doesn’t suffice, but thoughts that guide knowledge in the right direction are equally important.

Who can do this work better than

excellent books? Good books always lead us to the

right direction. As it is rightly said, one should own even the book which one may not even get time to read. One may

not know or make out when he may get or spare some time to read it, however a few pages, and it might change one’s entire life!

Therefore, we at Samarth Diamond follow a tradition of gifting good books to all the employees as a symbol Diwali celebration. A packet of sweet may give us

happiness for a few moments but books keep spreading the light of knowledge, not only for us, but also for our families for a long time.

May this Diwali spread such an auspicious light! May every morning of the New Year bring new messages of happiness to all of you!

- Samarth Management

Enhancing the happiness of Diwali, with the light of books!

For spreading happiness

Samarth SetuLet's remember...

A book, a pen, a child and a teacher can change the entire world.

Don’t read good books alone. Read some part of it and share it with your children and parents too.

Even if we read some books frequently, we may come across one or the other new thought to learn and understand.

Try to read the books of various types, authors and subjects as much as possible. You will genuinely be able to enjoy the variety of life.

Don’t let your daughter marry in the house or accept any girl as your daughter-in-law from the house that has no good books.

You may not inherit a lot of wealth to your children but do make sure that you inherit a lot of good books to your children.

A house without a book is like a temple without an idol.

At Samarth Diamond, it is expected of all of us that we should not just respect one another but also respect all those who come in contact with us, behave well and try to be the reason of their happiness. Such a conduct or behavior is also important during the journey by company bus. We always carry on our work sincerely keeping our objectives in mind. In this endeavour, 18 company buses, their drivers and assistants help

us, by carrying us to and from our workplace and home.

In this connection, it is important to bring some crucial points to the notice of all, keeping the values of Samarth in focus:

Life is precious and so is time. We should 1. be at the pickup point five minutes earlier than the pickup time so that we don’t have to miss the bus. Each of our driver is proud of the Indian 2. Standard time and they are committed to drop us home on time and hence they will start their buses from their respective destinations as per the daily schedule. Every bus has limited number of seats. As 3. we have to travel daily, we must register our presence in the attendance register so that our seating arrangement can be well maintained. If we have to travel only occasionally, then is advised to get the voucher filled up at the time of travel for convenience of all.

Our decency in the bus is chiefly 4. determined by our happy mind, smiling face and good books. We must not carry anything that may cause accident (things such as diesel, petrol, a bottle of gas etc) in the bus. We will collect a sum of Rs. 500/- from anyone who is found to be consuming tobacco or any intoxicant for that matter, thinking that he wants

to distribute sweets among all of us and celebrate at the end of the year! All of us must ensure that this work is properly and sincerely carried out by the assistant of the bus.

We must make sure that we 5. close the windows of the bus before we get down the bus so that it remains clean and dust free. We will take very good care of our buses cooperatively as it is our collective responsibility.

In case of less work for a 6. particular section, if that section has to be closed down earlier, the buses will start earlier for that closed sections' employee. Buses need to carry employees from other working sections too, and hence they will start as per their scheduled time only. If the employees of the closed section go home early on their own, they will not be given any reimbursement of the fare. In case of accident, we will behave 7. calmly and handle the situation without anger. An able person always handles the situation in a proper way, respecting all.

All the employees of Samarth Diamond must abide by the above-mentioned values and the violation of the same will invite strict action against the employee at fault.

Stern steps will be taken against any employee found violating the rules and damaging the values of Samarth.

- Samarth Management02

We must respect not just our colleagues, but all of them who come across our life and spread happiness for all. This spirit must be extended while travelling in company bus.

Company bus journey, with respect of all!

"I heartily congratulate all the diamond employees, who have contributed a big share from their salaries, to the families of the martyrs, who have sacrificed their lives for their motherland."

Samarth salutes the martyrs for their highest sacrifice

In September, 2016, 121 girls, the Managing Trustee and staff of Shri J M Patel Arts and Smt. M N Patel Commerce College, Unjha visited the Visnagar Unit No: 1, 3, 5 and the Ladies Unit of

Samarth Diamond. All the guests were explained in detail the process of transformation of rough diamonds into polished diamonds and the care to

be taken while buying diamond ornaments etc. The girls were more impressed after meeting the women employees of the Ladies Unit.

A Free Eye-Check up camp was organised for the employees of Unit 3 and 5 in September, 2016. Expert Ophthalmologists conducted this camp. The eye check up of all the employees was successfully conducted by Dr. Chirag Gohil and his team. Queries regarding diseases of eyes were solved and guidance for proper eye care was provided to all the employees.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Jai Hind!I am writing this letter to you, to appreciate you all

with mixed feelings of pride, pleasure and pain. Our country has lost 19 brave soldiers in the attack,

which recently occurred in the Uri sector of Jammu & Kashmir.

All these soldiers fought bravely against the terrorists and sacrificed their lives for their country, for the eternal purpose of the protection of our motherland.

The entire country is proud of these brave soldiers. In this attack, our soldiers gave the terrorists a strong reply by pushing them away valiantly. This act naturally brings feelings of joy and being secured, but their families will have to bear a mountainous loss. The children of such families will never enjoy the touch of loving hand of their father. Mother of these children will never find solace from her soulmate. Parents of the martyr will kill their time only seeing their beloved son's picture on a wall.

Their grieved hearts and souls might never be healed only with words of condolences.

In such circumstances, it becomes our moral duty to stand by these families in their tough times. In this context, my joys knew no bounds when I came to know

that Samarth Family is going to provide financial aid to the families of these soldiers.

I was even more overjoyed when I knew that all the diamond employees have also shown a nice gesture by raising a fund of Rs. 6,66,000/- for this noble cause. This humble gesture is a proof of your grit, determination and moral commitment towards our motherland. When a millionaire donates, he donates only a smart part of his large fortune. But all of you have contributed a substantial sum from your hard earned money and it is a great example of your generosity. Your donation holds more value as your donate from your limited

income. Hence, your gesture is highly

appreciable and praiseworthy. As an alert citizen of the country, I feel proud for all of you and congratulate you from the core of my heart. I do hope that

thousands of other people would be encouraged by your generous gesture and would contribute in such noble causes in the days to come.

Thank you and Jai Hind!- Suresh Patel

(Friends, Shri Suresh Patel has also sent his moral share

of donation to us. We congratulate and thank all of you!

All of us want everything that is of the highest class, quality and caliber; be it a shirt, a pen, a cycle or a car. While travelling in a train, we always desire a window seat. We want to educate our children in the best schools. We want our children to get highest marks in their class and school. We expect the best work from the government and similarly from our fellow employees.

This clearly shows that we search for excellence in everything. But the fact is that all that we get is not always excellent or best. The question is how to achieve excellence. Let’s understand a simple method to achieve it.

Every one of us has a particular perspective to look at the work that we do. There are three ways to look at any work.

Let’s understand this by an example. There were three masons doing masonry

work. I went to them and asked as to what they were doing.

The first one said, “Can’t you see? I do hard and tiresome work with these bricks for the whole day.”

The second mason said, “I earn to feed my wife and children.”

The third mason said, “I am extremely fortunate as I have got an opportunity to construct a temple. I can’t bear the entire expenditure on my own but I am making sure that a beautiful temple is being constructed." I saluted that third mason as his was the best example of an excellent masonry work.

Friends, there are three ways to look at your work at hand:

The perspective to look at the tools, 1. materials and physical labor of the work. (Pleasant or unpleasant)The perspective towards the immediately 2. attainable result after the completion of work. (Benefit - less or more)Perspective towards the far-reaching 3. result. (Vision)

If you want to do anything excellent or best, you need to have an eye on a far-reaching vision.

While polishing diamonds, if we make sure that the diamonds will be extremely useful and much to the satisfaction of the users wherever they might be used (be it as a part of production process or ornamentation) and work with that objective in focus, the entire process would be best and the diamond so made too will be the best!

At Samarth, steps are being taken in the direction towards excellence with the help of the book STAIRWAYS TO EXCELLENCE. These steps will not only make the production process of diamond best but also give excellence to the lives of all who are involved in the production and management process.

To sum this up, let me give you a beautiful example: I was standing in the compound of the Sacré-Cœur church in the city of Paris, the capital of France in the European Continent. There was a statue on the 100 feet high church. The statue had a book carved in its hand. The Guide asked me, “Can you read anything in that book?” “How can one read from a distance of as long as 100 feet?” I said. “And who would care, if anything is written on it or not?”

The Guide said, “The sculptor has carved the verses of the holy Bible in that book. While carving, his only thought was - I don’t know about others but I am sure that my God is definitely watching it!”

None of us desires anything less than excellent in any of the fields of our lives. The easiest method to achieve this is simple – do everything to the best of your ability.

Excellence: Let’s give to all, what we always want to achieve!

A programme was organised for all the employees of Samarth Diamond by Mr. Sanjaybhai Rawal in September, 2016. The subject of the programme was ‘Fearless Life’. In the beginning of the programme, the lady employees of Samarth were given away prizes on various parameters.

Encouraging the lady employees of Samarth to lead a fearless life, Mr. Sanjaybhai Rawal said, “To be happy and to lead a fearless life, it is really important to hear your inner voice rather than what your mind says. God becomes your friend when you happily accept and adjust with your circumstances."

According to him, God always rewards our deeds sooner or later. God has given equal opportunities to all. All that one needs to do is to develop eligibility for the same and be optimistic about it.

Throwing more light on the subject, he said, “One’s heart always shows the right path. By being happy, one gains courage to fight and overcome all the problems of life. Hence, it is very important to live a fearless life." Moreover, he explained important aspects of life such as observance of religion, respect for parents, value of hard work, significance of guru in a very interesting manner.

Guidance for a fearless life

The Samarth Diamond Credit and Consumer Co-Operative Society was inaugurated on 10th October, 2016 by Samarth Diamond. Mr. N B Upadhyay, IAS, the Registrar Co-operative Society, Gujarat State was to be present as the chief guest but he couldn’t be present due to his busy schedule. Mr. Pratikbhai Upadhyay, the District Registrar, Mehsana District was present as the guest of honor.

Among the other honorable guests were the Retired General Manager, Mehsana District Bank Mr. Ambalal S Patel, the Assistant District Registrar Mr. Subhashbhai Patel, the President and Honourable Minister of Rotary Round Town, Visnagar and Mr. Rajubhai Brahmbhatt etc. The partners of Samarth Diamond Mr. Dineshbhai Patel and Mr. Govindbhai Patel along with the employees of Samarth Diamond were also present.

Sharing his views on this occasion, Mr. Govindbhai Patel said, “When we started Samarth Diamond, we had thought, “ If the employees, who polish a diamond which is valuable and lustrous, have no happiness on their faces and in their lives, something will really be found wanting or missing" and therefore all the decisions taken in the Samarth Diamond have always been in the very interest of the employees. One such decision is the creation of The Samarth Diamond Credit and Consumer Co-operative Society. If the employees of Samarth Diamond can avail facilities such as saving

The Samarth Credit And Consumer Co-Operative Society launchedand loan from their own institution similar to a bank, they would be able to benefit from the profit also.”

Mr. Govindbhai had said that the facilities of

insurance schemes and Mediclaim will also be available to the members of the society.

Speaking about the quality of items available for purchase, he said, “Since we work on and for precious diamonds, we never accept or do with anything weak or inferior." He expressed his confidence saying that "we would go ahead with the objective of making our society the best co-operative society of Gujarat." Samarth Mart will be opened in Satlasana also in the month of October.

One more effort to remove superstitionsCurrently, our honourable Prime Minister

Shri Narendrabhai Modi is trying to put India in the category of the developed countries through the 'Digital India' campaign, but on the other hand, what is painful to note is that people in many parts of the country are still found to be trapped in several types of old superstitions and wrong beliefs.

Samarth Diamond has tried to create awareness in this direction time and again. As a part of this initiative, Superstition Alleviation Programme was organised by the subject expert Mr. Jagdishbhai Suthar in Unit: 4, Satlasna by Samarth Diamond.

In this programme, Shri Jagdishbhai had demonstrated well as to how people are duped and cheated by people who exorcise evil spirits. He demonstrated how a 'Chundadi' is hidden inside a coconut, just to make people believe that it was found there naturally!

In another live demonstration, he demonstrated how a cheat would get an edible item called ‘Puri” from boiling hot oil. With help of a volunteer employee, he demonstrated how a burning camphor is placed inside one's mouth.

Many thugs walk on a wet piece of cloth to

show red steps on it. Jagdishbhai demonstrated the same and said that it is nothing but a case of chemical reaction. Jagdishbhai even walked on burning coals and demonstrated how it is done without hurting one's self.

He also showed a few more of such demonstrations of cheating to remove layers of superstitions from the eyes of the people, which was well appreciated.

“Magic touch to reach your dreams... Goals” We all dream about success,

but don't know the way. Shri Navinbhai Mohanbhai Prajapati from Russian Department tells us about a book that shows the path to success.

Book Review

Friends, today I would like to talk to you about the significance of ‘Goal’ in one’s life. What is my goal? Well, the question may seem easy but the answer to it is difficult. Those who are able to get the answer to this question are really successful in their lives. We need to think positively to achieve our goal and be successful.

I recently read a book titled ‘Goals’ by Bryan Tracy, which clearly explains and demonstrates the perfect road map in the direction of the fulfillment of one’s dream or goal. I am sharing with you the gist of the book which will help you to reach your goal.

1) The greatest hurdle in your path to your goal is a negative thought or feeling. One has to get rid of it by hook or by crook.

Negative thinking is like an enemy in our way to happiness. It grips and frustrates you and takes away all the happiness from your life. Historically, the society, or the mankind for that matter, has suffered great losses due

to such negative feelings or thoughts.

Hence you must get rid of all the negative feelings or thoughts from your mental system if you genuinely wish to become happy and successful. This has to be one of your chief ‘goals’.

Fear, Jealousy and Inferiority Complex are the factors that lead to anger. Remove these factors and you will see to your surprise that all the negative feelings will disappear and the positive feelings like love, peace and happiness will find a niche in your heart.

Your life will completely change and this sometimes takes only a few moments.

2) Think in the direction of solutions.

Remember, you simply become what you mostly think of or about. As far as problems

and difficulties are concerned, a successful person always thinks only in the direction of solution whereas u n s u c c e s s f u l person always keeps thinking about problems and difficulties. He would focus only on how

and who created the problem. Whereas, the successful person will think, "How can we solve this?" And then, he will strive to solve it.

Obstacles will invariably be there in your path to success, therefore success is also known by the phrase ‘Skill to overcome obstacles’.

Individual leadership means your ability to solve your problems or overcome your obstacles. The reach prominence only by successfully removing their obstacles.

Swami Vivekananda rightly said, “Arise, awake and stop not till thy goal is achieved.’

If we follow these words of Swami Vivekananda, we will definitely be able to reach our goals successfully.

Shri Navinbhai Prajapati

Life is for laughter….!

"Memories for lifetime!"

Don’t lose the smile on your face, in the worries of tomorrow. Future is unknown. No one knows, what is going to happen tomorrow.

If you don’t know about tomorrow, why should you waste your today in the worry of it? The one who learns to live in the present moment is always destined to be happy.

Due to stress, worry and circumstantial pressure, one has lost his precious smile. However painful your sorrows are, they can be wiped off with just a faint smile on your face.

(Courtesy: GHAR EJ SWARG written by Shri Shrutpragya Swami)

It is believed that an adventurous trip teaches you a lot. One such adventurous trip really became a very exciting token of remembrance for my life and I heartily thank Rotary Club of Visnagar Round Town for giving me an opportunity to be a part of such a memorable adventurous trip.

Twelve different people from twelve different nations got together in Norway. We were meeting for the first time but started talking with one another as if we had known one another for years. Background and Culture of all of us were different. We had different personalities. However our meeting in Norway created memories for life!

What really touched me the most from those experiences was the matter of respecting the factor

of Time. I had heard a lot about Time Management but I experienced it thoroughly during my trip. I also realised that the people who take great

care of others can always touch our hearts. Though I was a vegetarian, I had no problem whatsoever as far as my meals or food was concerned. My food was well taken care of at every place.

During this journey, I thoroughly enjoyed roaming on the mountains and activities such as collecting berries from groves. I also performed Bharatnatyam and designed my hands with ‘Mehandi’ to let all the people have the feel of our country. All liked it very much. I think that it was the best experience of my life and I could also learn a lot of new things as well.

Recently, Ami, the daughter of Shri Govindbhai Patel, partner of Samarth Diamond visited Norway under the Cultural Exchange Programme of Rotary Club. Here is her experience in her own words….
