Indian Institute of Management (IIM) is an institution that provides best management education in India. There are eight IIMs in the country out of which the institute that is considered to be the best is IIM-Ahmedabad.

I underwent a resident training programme at IIM-Ahmadabad during 19th April to 24 April, 2015. The subject was 'Strategic Reorientation Organisation Trans-formation'. The trainees include representatives of other 26 leading companies.

The most important aspect of the training was about the different strategies that the giant companies of the world are successfully adopting

in the midst of frequently changing economic, social and political scenarios.

I am extremely happy to let you know that the training has strengthened my faith in all the determined matters pertaining to strategic planning (mission, vision, values) of our company under the kind guidance of Shri Sureshbhai Patel (Management Consultant and Trainer) since April 2014 and also the programmes, training

programmes and policies that are conducted in accordance.

During the training at the IIM, the eye-catching sanitation and arrangements, respectful behavior of different workers and efficacious execution of the entire programme left an indelible impression on hearts. The summary of the same is mentioned on the left side of the page.

Samarth Diamond at an exhibitionSamarth Diamond participated as a silver sponsor in a unique Industrial Exhibition held at Pune, Maharashtra.

A grand exhibition ‘Unique Gems and Jewellery International Show - 2015’ was organized in Pune in the month of July.

The exhibition was held at the ultramodern Auto Cluster Exhibition and Convention Center from 4th July to 6th July, 2015. Samarth Diamond participated as a Silver Sponsor.

This was for the first time that Pune witnessed such a grand exhibition. Manufacturers, retail and wholesale traders, people from the machinery, services, tools, gifts and packaging sectors, trade publications, associations, consultants and other experts were invited to the exhibition.

This event was truly

organised ‘by the people, of the people and through the people".

On behalf of Samarth Diamond, Shri Dashrathbhai Patel, Shri Piyushbhai Patel, Smt. Kaminiben Patel and Shri Himanshubhai Patel had participated in this exhibition. On returning, they shared that participation in the exhibition was a very enriching experience and

they thoroughly enjoyed it. The participation in the

exhibition mainly provided opportunities to meet and know the people connected to the industry who had come from different places of India. It also provided us an opportunity to exchange our experiences as well.

In this way, this exhibition proved to be an invaluable and useful experience.

We often read in newspapers about 'Digital India', 'Smart City' and 'Internet of Things' etc. In this context, a presentation by Shri Himanshu Kikani, Editor, 'CyberSafar' magazine was arranged on 27th July, 2015 to enlighten all about the changes which are shaping up in the world of Information and Technology. He provided

various information about different aspects of the Digital World and also about smart phone, computer and internet with the help of a PowerPoint Presentation. Moreover,

various interesting web sites or services that enhance curiosity, creativity and productivity were also introduced during the presentation.

The employees were enlightened about the Best MSME • certificate awarded to Samarth Diamond. There are employees in the company, who availed the • computer training on their own and put that training to use in the company. All such employees were encouraged by the management and as a token of appreciation, Pen Drives were gifted to them. Four employees of the company recently found and • returned lost diamonds during their duties. The management facilitated their honesty and dedication to the company. A Health Committee has been formed, which will initiate • activities in the direction of making Samarth Diamond addiction free.Tribute was paid to the departed souls in the near past. • The list included, late President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Shri Nikitaben Ghiya (who despite her own kidney disease, supported other needy patients) and two Samarth employees, Shri Lalbhai Sipai and Shri Sendhaji Thakor.Employees were informed about the importance of Study • Circle, initiated for them.Dissemination of training calendar.• Information sharing about 'Growth of Samarth through • Five S and Kaizen Concept' Employees who worked hard during flooding at the plot • for new factory premises, were facilitated.Video about 'Safety with Helmet' was screened and • employees were encouraged to take an oath for following road safety rules.

At Samarth Diamond, we believe in developing mind power for best productivity. Since books are an invaluable resource for personality development, company has developed a rich library with over 1,000 books and audio-video CD-DVDs. All employees are encouraged to take home some reading material for them and their family.At times, when employees are busy with their work, they do not find time to visit the library. Training Coordinator, Shri Krunal Patel came up with an innovative idea to address this issue. He stacked many books in a trolley and carried it to each department! People welcomed this idea and about 275 people selected books from the trolley and took them home!

"Jeena Isi ka naam hai..."

Kidney is an important organ of our body. It drains unnecessary and useless substances from our body.

Kidney maintains the balance of fluid in the body and controls the blood pressure. It helps in the strengthening of bones. It also helps in increasing the number of Red Blood Cells. However, the diseases related to kidney have been increasing alarmingly.

Efforts for awareness have been made in this direction by India Renal Foundation which has been actively working for last seven years. On 13th July, 2015 a programme for awareness about Kidney was held at Rotary Bhavan, Visnagar.

An elaborate and interesting presentation covering all the crucial aspects such as importance of kidney, its function and measures to be taken for the control of Renal Diseases was shared by the member of the India Renal Foundation.

“Jeena Isi ka naam hai!”, an entertaining programme was held on 2nd August in Visnagar. People enjoyed various inspirational songs as part of the programme. However, the reason behind the planning of the programme is more interesting and inspirational than its success.

Ever since the establishment of Samarth Diamond, training is emphasised for excellence and success. To expand the mission of spreading happiness, the company initiated a training programme called 'Samarth Training for Expressing Potential (STEP)' in 2014. The training, under the guidance of Management Trainer Shri Sureshbhai Patel, aims at helping the children of the employees excel in future.

From 2015, the training also welcomes the youth from other families of the town.

The youth trained in the STEP, came to know about an extremely talented and an idol of inspiration Smt. Nikitaben Ghiya. Despite suffering from

a renal disease, she had raised a fund of Rs. 80 lakh by arranging various programs just in order to help the other needy patients suffering from kidney diseases.

Having been inspired from her, the trainees of STEP had organised a charity show named “Jeena isi ka naam hai!” under the guidance of Samarth Diamond and Rotary Club of Round Town, Visnagar. Owing to her ill health, Nikitaben could not attend this programme and she died just after two days of the programme.

The show raised a fund of Rs. 2.25 lakh, which was equally divided among the funds of Smt. Nikitaben, Indian Renal Foundation and Visnagar Civil Hospital.

It is heartening to see that the STEP training initiated by our company has inculcated in the new generation the capacity of leadership and successful planning; and inspired them towards fulfilling their social responsibility.

A fine book explaining some simple rules of life Management Trainer Shri

Sureshbhai Patel, draws a picture of a beautiful book that he had read years ago but the impact of which has left an eternal impression on him.

I had read a book during my college days which has left an indelible and lasting impression on me till today. The book was ‘The Game of life and how to play it” by Florence Scovel Shinn. Considering life a game, she has explained its rules. Let’s look into those rules…1. Whatever a man imagines turns out to be true sooner or later. Only our own suspicion and fear are the obstacles. One’s imagination should be well supported by deep faith. 2. A human-being invariably achieves the prosperity he desires only if his efforts are in the right direction. It is generally seen that wishes and efforts go in opposite directions. One must strengthen the imagination and work with the right and relevant methods. Thus the very behavior of one would also be relevant to his goal. 3. Words are not mere pronunciation or depiction. They have tremendous power. One should be cautious and alert while writing or speaking them. Words are the media of our social interaction, the words that we use too should be relevant to it. 4. One can never avert a particular situation by merely resisting it. Accept it to get rid of it. A situation that appears

to be difficult externally is actually nothing but the very reflection of our inner or mental state. When we accept a particular situation, it creates a transformation within us and it reflects externally as well which eventually changes the very situation that you are in. 5. As you sow, so will you reap. Only the one who gives, receives. The impact that one’s words, mental thoughts or external behavior and deeds create do affect him sooner or later and hence one should give what is required. 6. The fear that we feel or experience in our daily life invites hostile situations to our life. One should have infinite faith in God that He would handle any situation however difficult it is and feel relaxed. 7. Loving behavior would invariably create springs of love from everywhere. Here we do need to understand what love is. Love is always selfless and devoid of demands or expectations. Avoid being selfish in love. Keep sharing or multiplying it as much as possible. The same is the case with money. Money in flow would glow. Its hoarding would hinder its flow.8. Pay heed to your intuition. We are normally guided by

our inner voice in terms of what we should do and what we should not, but we ignore it by using our logic and suspicious behavior. If we pay heed to it, we invariably create a situation which leads us to our well-being. 9. Everyone has a definite plan of action to follow. One should try to know what he has to do. We are created for a specific expression. If we can recognize that and act in tune with it; health, wealth and love would arrive looking for us and we will definitely not have to search for them. 10. Learn to wait patiently. Whatever we wish or desire comes to us in its proper form. Our unfair expectations and unnecessary suspicions create obstacles. We should rather be patient. We should feel relaxed by having infinite faith in God.

Dear family members,As you all know, we have been leaving no stone

unturned in making all the family members of the Samarth family happy, joyous and progressive. Only as recently as the last three months, two of our friends from the Samarth Family, Shri Sendhaji Babuji Dabhi and Shri Lalbhai Fakir Mohammad died in road accidents. We can well imagine the kind of torrid period of times that their families have to face when the main stays of their families depart so early just because of a trivial mistake.

We may give solace to their families and may even help them financially but we can never relieve them of the pain and loss that they have to go through.

I am very sorrowful and worried about this particular matter. During our meetings, we often explain and discuss about the traffic rules such as wearing helmets, driving vehicles at a slow speed, the renewal of insurance regularly and also about keeping a valid driving license while driving.

Despite our frequent efforts and deliberations, why it doesn’t make any difference?

I humbly request all of you to make sure that your family member does wear a helmet while riding a two-wheeler and doesn’t indulge in any conversation especially while driving. Moreover, only one person should sit on the pillion seat and not more. You should follow all these instructions and remind about the same to your kith and keen also. This is really a responsibility of the entire family. Nobody really likes to be instructed and may react angrily but you should not react harshly to any such angry reaction and bear with such dislikes if you really want to see your family in the longer run.

Let’s all of us come together and decide that, “I will make sure that my husband, brother, nephew or any relative for that matter would wear a helmet while riding a two-wheeler. Moreover, I will encourage them to follow all the traffic rules for safety.” I hope that our efforts will bring positive results. A special program in the esteemed presence of Shri Hasmukhbhai Patel, a senior Police Officer of the Gujarat Police was held at Sawal Darwaja, Visnagar by Harihar Seva Mandal with cooperation of Samarth Diamond and Rotary Club of Round Town, Visnagar on 18th June, 2015. The program was held in the context of ‘Parenting for Peace’, a unique initiative for global peace through child upbringing.

Various teams are being formed in cities to strengthen the project Shri Hasmukhbhai he explained at length as to how these teams would function. The teams have been distributed in various groups such as Parenting for Peace (P4P) School, P4P Teachers, P4P Parents and P4P Volunteers. At the end of this program, 24 members enrolled their names for this project and Prof. Mahendrabhai has taken up the responsibility as the coordinator of this team.

Parth Patel, the son of Shri Dineshbhai Patel, Partner, Samarth Diamond studies B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering in Tamilnadu. He recently joined a special study program in the world renowned Stanford University of USA and enhanced the pride of the Samarth Family.

Parth says, “The very purpose was to connect with people having similar thoughts or thinking process. I had many students who had come from more than 25 countries as my

co-participants. During weekdays various executives from famous companies like Apple and Google used to visit us and guide us by sharing their experiences with the Corporate World. In weekends, we used to play team building games, Design Thinking Workshops etc.

I would like to share with you the most important lesson that I learnt during my journey in the Stanford University. I learnt that “If you try, you will definitely succeed one day.” This is like entering a dark room, know

knowing which switch will tun on lights. We just have to try the switches one by one and at a certain point, you will spread light!"
