Breads
Bread Dough Inch Worms
Melt 1/4 cup margarine in small pot, cool slightly, then pour into a small custard cup. Mix in 1 small
bottle green food coloring and set aside. Divide 1 loaf defrosted bread dough into 6-8 small pieces.
Dip each piece in flour and roll into an "inchworm" with your hands. Place on a cookie sheet and add 2
raisins for eyes. With pastry brush, paint each shape with green butter. Bake 350 degrees for about
15 minutes.
Monkey Bread
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Take biscuits out of 1 tube of refrigerator biscuits. Combine 1/2 tsp.
cinnamon and 1 tbsp. brown sugar together in a separate bowl; add 1 ounce of mini-chocolate morsels.
Toss biscuits in mixture and coat all pieces evenly. Melt 1 tsp. margarine in an oblong baking dish or
bundt pan. Add biscuits to pan. Bake for 15 minutes or until the top starts to brown and the biscuits
are done. Let cool 5 minutes. Invert onto a serving plate.
Raspberry Corn Muffins
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray 12 muffin tins with cooking spray or line with muffin liners.
Prepare corn muffin mix according to package directions. Fill muffin tins one-fourth full. Place one
teaspoon raspberry spread in the center of each. Top with the rest of the batter. Bake for 20
minutes or until golden brown.
Surprise Muffins
Stir 2 cups flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 3 tsp. baking powder, and 1 tsp. salt in a bowl. Make a "well" in center
of the mixture. In another bowl, beat 1 egg slightly with a fork and stir in 1 cup milk and 1/4 cup
vegetable oil. Pour egg mixture all at once into "well" in flour mixture. Stir just until flour is moistened.
Batter will be slightly lumpy. Fill muffin cups 1/2 full. Drop a teaspoonful of jelly in center of batter.
Add more batter to fill muffin cups 2/3 full.
Jam Muffins
7 handfuls of flour
1 palm of baking powder
1 pinch of salt
1 egg
4 palms of oil
3 handfuls of your favorite jam
1 handful of milk
In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt with your hand. Add the egg, oil, jam and milk. Mix it
all together quickly. Scoop it into six paper muffins cups placed in a muffin tin. With an adult's help,
bake them in an over at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
Ants on a Toilet Seat
Ingredients:
apples
peanut butter
miniature chocolate chips
First you core and peel (optional) an apple. Then you cut slices in the apples so there will be a hole in
the middle. Have the kids put a layer of peanut butter on the apple and top it with the chocolate chips.
A great nutricious snack!

Apple Finger Cubes
Pour 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin into a bowl. Add 2 cups boiling water. Stir until gelatin is dissolved.
Add one 6 ounce can unsweetened frozen apple juice concentrate. Pour mixture into a lightly greased 9
by 13-inch cake pan and chill. Cut into squares when firm.
Cereal Scramble
Mix 3 cups assorted unsweetened cereal (Cheerios, Wheat Chex, Rice Chex, etc.), 1/2 cup pretzel
sticks, and 1/4 cup melted margarine. Spread on baking sheet and bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes.
Stir occasionally. Store tightly covered.
Cheerios Treats
Grease a 13x9-inch pan. Melt 3 tbsp. margarine in a large pan. Stir in one 10 1/2 oz. package of
miniature marshmellows (6 cups) and 1/2 cup peanut butter and stir until melted and smooth. Remove
from heat. Immediately stir in 5 cups Cheerios and 1 cup candy-coated milk chocolate candies. Mix
lightly until well coated. Press mixture into prepared pan. Cool, cut, and serve.
Cheese Hammers
Cut a variety of cheeses in small squares. Poke a pretzel into each one. Children can connect their
cubed cheese with the pretzel sticks to make cheese towers. Show them off before eating.
Fruit Salad Cones
Combine one large banana (sliced), 7/8 oz. mandarin oranges (drained), 1/4 cup miniature marshmellows,
10 oz. pineapple chunks (drained), 1 cup strawberries (sliced), and 3/4 cup lemon yogurt. Spoon into ice
cream cones. Serve immediately.
Ice Cream Cone Cake
Prepare a boxed cake mix as per directions and pour batter into ice cream cones. Fill about 3/4 full.
Place cones into muffin tins. Bake at 425 degrees for about 30 minutes. Cool and frost.
Ice Cube Jello
Mix up a batch of jello using only 1/2 required amount of water. Fill ice cube tray and refrigerate. Slip
a knife in at each edge to pop out jello cubes. Children can slip a banana slice into each section.
Mini Bagel Pizza
Split mini bagels in half. Spread pizza sauce on and sprinkle with mozarella cheese. Pop in microwave.
Muffin Pizza
Cut one English Muffin in half. Spread insides with margarine. Place on a broiler tray. Place in broiler,
broil until just brown. Spread each muffin with a little tomato sauce. Sprinkle cheese evenly over
muffin. Place under broiler until bubbly.
Pat-a-Cakes
Beat 2 cups of softened butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in 5 cups flour and 2 tbsp.
vanilla until dough clings together and forms a ball. Divide dough into several parts and mix in desired
tints of food colors: red, green, blue, yellow, etc. Wrap dough in plastic wrap; keep refrigerated or
frozen. Defrost completely and let stand at room temperature before using. In the center of a foil-
covered table place 2 or 3 "blobs" of colored shortbread dough, surrounded by dishes of M & M's,
chocolate chips, and other candy. Show each child how to take a small mound of dough, mold it, and pat
it into shape, and decorate it with candies. Place on baking sheet and bake. Who knows what
temperature, guess! LOL It's a pliable, nonsticky dough at room temperature.
Pat-A-Pizza
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Shred 1 package 8 oz. mozarella cheese. Grease a cookie sheet with
margarine. Dip fingers in flour and pat each biscuit (1 can refrigerator biscuits - 10) into a circle about
4 inches on a floured surface. Spoon 3 tsp. of sauce (3/4 cup spaghetti or pizza sauce) on each biscuit.
Cover with 1 tbsp. of cheese. Transfer biscuit to the cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes until cheese is
bubbly and brown.
Pudding-wiches
In a bowl, blend 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter into 3/4 cup milk. Add 1/2 box of instant pudding mix,
any flavor. Beat slowly with hand beater until well-blended (two minutes). Let stand five minutes.
Spread the filling between graham crackers. Freeze until firm - about three hours.
Quickie Cookies
Mix one package cake mix, 1 egg, and 1 stick butter. Roll out. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake 350
degrees for 10 minutes. Frost if desired.
Simply Dessert Pastry
Open crescent rolls flat. Put chocolate chips in the middle. Fold like a pastry (triangle shape). Seal
ends and bake. Cover with sugar. Yum!
Snack Tubes
Put small amounts of trail mix, cereal, pretzels, etc. in plastic sandwich bags and insert them in
cardboard toilet paper tubes. Then wrap tube in a piece of tissue paper and tie the ends with yarn or
ribbon. Give the tubes to the children at snack time.
Surprise Pizza Puffs
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Take one large package of refridgerator biscuits (8 count) and flatten
each one to a circle 3 1/2" across. Spoon pizza or spaghetti sauce on a biscuit and add one 1-inch cube
of mozzarella cheese. Pull edges of biscuit together so cheese is enclosed and pinch to seal. Turn over
and bake for 8 - 10 minutes.
Yogurt-Cereal Sundaes
Slice 1 banana (can use other fruit). Alternate layers of the banana, yogurt (3 oz. custard style yogurt,
any flavor), and 1/2 cup Cheerios in parfait glasses or cups. Makes 2 sundaes.
Fruits & Veggies
Ants on a Log
Fill celery with peanut butter and stick raisins along the top. Can use cheese, cottage cheese, tuna, or
egg salad as filler.
Apple Cookies
Core whole apple and slice in circles. Fill core hole, or frost apple cookies, with peanut butter and
raisins.
Banana Pops
Cut bananas in half. (One banana makes two pops.) Place each half on a popsicle stick. Place honey on
one plate and rice cereal (or nuts, sprinkles, or any other coating you wish) on another. Coat the
banana with honey. (A pastry brush makes this part even more fun!). Roll the banana in the cereal.
Admire your creation, and eat (or freeze each pop in wax paper to make frozen treats).
Candle Salad
Tear and arrange lettuce on a plate. Top with a pineapple ring. Place banana (cut off ends) in the hole
of the pineapple so it stands like a candle. Add a cherry or carrot curl for a flame.
Cheesy Potato Sticks
Wash 1 1/2 lbs. potatoes thoroughly; do not peel. Cut lengthwise into quarters and then cut each
quarter into thirds. Coat potatoes with 2 tbsp. melted margarine. Combine 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs,
1/3 cup parmesan cheese, 1/4 tsp. paprika, and 1/4 tsp. garlic powder. Roll potatoes in mixture. Place
potatoes in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until crispy on the
outside. Divide into six 1/2 cup portions and serve immediately.
Fruity Yogurt Parfait
Place a tablespoon of vanilla yogurt into each of 6 clear plastic cups. Cover with a layer of Cheerios (or
other low-fat cereal). Then cover with a layer off sliced bananas and strawberries. Repeat the layers
until the ingredients are used up. Children can build their own parfaits.
Instant Banana Pudding
Mash 3 small ripe bananas completely (little ones don't like lumps) with a fork in a small bowl or in a
blender. Add 1 1/2 cups of applesauce. Stir in 2 tbsp. of vanilla yogurt. Place in small paper cups.
Monkey Bars
Peel and cut 1 banana into 4 equal pieces. Poke an ice cream stick into each chunk. Spread some peanut
butter on each banana piece. Roll peanut butter-coated banana into cereal. Watch your favorite
monkey eat up these treats.
Vegetable Pizza
Defrost a loaf of frozen bread dough and spread out on a pizza pan sprayed with nonstick vegetable
spray. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is brown. Cool. Mix 3 oz. of cream
cheese, 1/3 cup mayonnaise, 2/3 cup lowfat plain yogurt, and a 1 oz. package of Hidden Valley Ranch
Dressing (dry mix) in a bowl. Spread the mixture over the crust and top with 3 cups of fresh
vegetables of your choice: broccoli, peppers, onion, tomatoes, etc. Then top with 1/4 lb. mozarella
cheese. Chill and serve cold.
