This Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone trade-in infographic was created by CompareMyMobile to visualise the huge impact that the release of a flagship device can have on the trade-in market. Site experts saw Samsung's trade-in market share receive a 21 percent boost, following an increase in trade-in across the Galaxy range. Samsung's Galaxy S4 saw a 256 percent spike in trade-ins and a 150 percent spike in actual trade-ins following the GS5 reveal, as people rushed to see how much money they could get for their old device. Similarly, the Galaxy S3 saw a 288 percent boost in valuations and a 196 percent spike in trade-ins. CompareMyMobile say this particular boost could reflect consumers coming to the end of 24 month GS3 contracts with UK networks. CompareMyMobile also notes that Apple's trade-in market share has taken a hit following the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 releases. Before the first quarter of this year, Apple made up the majority of trade-ins on the site and was the most traded-in brand. However now, following a barage of releases last year and a new flagship in Q1 2014 - Samsung has been crowned the top traded-in brand on the site, making up over 50 percent of all smartphone trade-ins.
