Wet noses and floppy ears, there is something
about that combination that makes my heart melt. Dogs
have always been a huge part of my life. Growing up I
always had that loyal companion by my side. My dog Molli
is not just that four legged thing that lives with us, Molli is
my Best friend, she’s considered family in this house hold
and without that four legged furry friend roaming around
the hallways of this house, It would not be the same.
Wether I find her sniffing around in my room because I left
my sandwich crusts sitting on my desk or romping around
in the pool then runs in the house and gets everything wet,
no matter what she does she’s not only completes this
family, she completes me. This magazine is for city living
dog loving folks who want to get out and enjoy the fresh
air but wants to take their furry friend(s) with them. In this
issue of Unleashed, San Francisco editon you will find new
places to take your dog, such as: Dog parks, Dog friendly
restaurants, and eco friendly household must haves.
Along with monthly blogs and some nice healthy dog friendly
recipes. Anyone stuck at home not knowing what to do be-
cause you cant take your dog with you will love San Fran-
cisco Unleashed, its fun and playful but very informative. If
dogs could read they too would enjoy this magazine. What
I want my readers to know is that this is not your ordinary
dog magazine where you open it and your instantly over-
whelmed with information about breeds and boring infor-
mation that no one cares about. In this Magazine my read-
ers will want to read it over and over again and will want
to suggest it to friends and family because I want to get
that boring information across in a fun and exciting way to
where you wont find your self gazing over the words. With
this magazine you’ll actually be reading it and enjoying it.

Rocket Dog RescueBe a Hero
Rocket Dog Rescue, the name says it all. We are an all-volun-teer nonprofit group dedicated to saving homeless and aban-doned animals from euthanasia in overcrowded Bay Area shel-ters. We literally give them a sec-ond chance at life. And every-body deserves a second chance.
Rocket Dog Rescue places non-aggressive dogs into tem-porary foster homes where they are socialized, spay/neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical or behavioral condi-tions which would otherwise limit their adoptability. We then ac-tively seek out permanent qual-ity homes for these deserving animals through our volunteer network, online adoption page, weekend adoption fairs, and neighborhood poster campaigns.
Founded in 2001 by Bay Area animal activist Pali Boucher, Rocket Dog Rescue is a 501-C3 nonprofit corporation sup-ported completely by donations. Our all-volunteer, home-based organization guarantees that your donations are complete-ly focused on saving dogs.
Rocket Dog Rescue’s ulti-mate goal is to help create a world where all companion an-imals have loving and perma-nent homes. A world where no good-natured companion ani-mal, no matter what their age, are killed in shelters because they are considered surplus or unadoptable. We also strive to make eco-friendly and vegetar-ian choices whenever possible.

Scout the City DogI love going to parks and hanging out with my mommy, She is the best mom in the world, she likes to play fetch and she knows just where to pet me. I’m a very adventurous dog and like to get dirty, but i dont think my mommy minds giving me baths, I enjoy them too. I’m just a small dog living in a big city and I have no complaints about it.

Why Excercise is Important.
Living with a dog has many perks, but one of the best one has to be the impetus to get off the couch and out the door so you can both get some exercise. Exercise is as important for your dog as it is for you! Exercise isn’t just a nicety; it’s a necessity for maintaining optimal physical and mental wellbeing. As with people, obesity is becoming a major health problem in today’s dogs.
Between 20 to 40 percent of all dogs seen by veterinarians in the United States are considered overweight, with many clinically obese. Obesity prevents dogs from enjoying many physical activities. Obesity decreases speed and stamina, and makes it more difficult for your dog to deal with heat. It’s also associated with several medical problems, such as arthritic changes in overly burdened joints, increased risk of torn ligaments, back problems, high blood pressure, cardiac problems, diabetes mellitus, difficulty breathing, impaired liver function, increased surgical risks, skin problems, constipation, flatulence, anal sac impaction, whelping problems, and possibly even increased risk of some cancers.
If the physical threats associated with obesity aren’t enough, there’s the behavioral aspects of lack of exercise. Dogs are active by nature. Their ancestors, wolves, covered many miles every day in search of food. Many domestic dogs were selectively bred to be even more active, hunting or hiking is a great way to Preventing them from their genetically programmed activity level only builds frustration, which usually exhibits itself in the form of hyperactivity, barking, digging, tail chasing, and home destruction.
Lack of exercise is one of the major reasons behind many causes of problem behavior. Remember, it’s difficult for a tired dog to get into trouble. Don’t think you can just stick your dog in the yard and he’ll exercise himself. Unless he has a friend, or lots of stimulation on the other side of the fence (in which case he’s probably barking too much to be a good neighbor) he may chase his tail a few times, sniff around, and then just sit there.

Food Not to Feed Fido1. Ice cream/Dairy
4.Onions & Garlic
5. Avocado
6. Grapes & Raisins
2. Booze
3. Chocolate
As tempting as is may be to give your pup a like of your spoon, Dairy products can cause sever stomach and digestive problems in dogs that lead to cramping and diarreah
The effects of chocolate raise your dog’s body temperature to dangerous levels, and cause rapid heartbeat and breathing problems.
Avocados made the ASPCA’s 2009 list of foods to avoid giving to animals, thanks to a substance called persin that’s extremely toxic to animals. It’s not only the edible flesh of the avocado that’s worrisome when it comes to your pets; the entire avocado plant — the seed, bark and leaves — contains persin and can sicken and kill any animals that partake of it. If you keep avocados in the house make sure to keep them well out of the reach of your animals.
The effects of chocolate raise your dog’s body temperature to dangerous levels, and cause rapid heartbeat and breathing problems.
Grapes and raisins are delicious and very nutritious treat for humans, but for dogs it’s a whole different story. When eaten, dogs can experience gastrointestinal problems (i.e. vomiting and diarrhea) and may experience kidney failure, which is fatal.
The internet, especially Youtube, is full of video and pictures of dogs drinking beer and other alcoholic beverages. They may seem funny or cute, but in the real world, they can have a deadly effect on your pet. Dogs don’t metabolize things the same way people do, and even small amounts of alcohol can lead to symptoms of drunkenness in pets; it can also lead to seizures, coma, and death.

Muddy Paws
This handmade, all natural bare pup soap uses food-grade organic ingredients with 100% pure essential oils. Muddy paws contains neem oil as well as a blend of essential oils which are all widely known to be helpful in the battle against fleas and ticks, and oatmeal for help in keeping your dog’s skin soft. And it smells good, too. It’s crazy lathery and the bar is extraordinarily hard, so it lasts a long long time. And yes, you can use it on your muddy toes too! (At Wet nose. Muddy paws., we also use it as our kitchen soap!) If you have kittycats, however, do not use muddy paws on them. Cats are sensitive to many ingredients and tree tea can be toxic to your beloved dog paws.

Our nutritional difference is not only based on years of research and dedication to the health of pets. It comes from a different, innovative way of thinking about the dietary requirements and behaviors of dogs and cats and about a breakthrough approach to the value of advanced nutrition. We believe that the right diet can do amazing things for pets, like boost immunity, help burn fat, help maintain muscle and promote healthy digestion, aid in weight loss, reduce tartar build-up, and, in some instances, even nutritionally manage the progression of disease.
