Dear guild friends,
Spring has defiantly sprung and summer is close behind. And believe it or not the quilt show is right
around the corner. Sooooo it's time to get out that pattern and fabrics you have been planning to start for the
quilt show. I know it's hard to think October and fall when spring has just began but time seems to sweep by
so let's get started. The show will be “The Splendor of Flowers,” bright, pretty and everyone loves them.
Just got back from Portland, Oregon and quilt market and it seems the trend is Modern Quilts and lots of art
quilts, so fun and so easy. Maybe it's time for you to try something new—maybe check out the new patterns
for modern quilts at your local quilt store. It's always fun to get out of a rut and try new things, be brave and
begin an art quilt. Using no ruler is very appealing.
Hope everyone is well and having a wonderful start to the summer. Our prayers go out to Viola Kelly.
Hope she is up and around soon.
Respectfully,
Gail

Flavin Glover, a quilt designer and teacher, has a degree in Clothing, Textiles and Related Arts from Auburn University. Innovative
Log Cabin and geometric patchwork quilts composed of many fabrics in vibrant colors have become her trademark. She has created
numerous quilts inspired from landscapes and architecture.
Flavin’s Log Cabin Landscapes & Buildings quilts are featured in her book, A New Look at Log Cabin Quilts by C&T Publish-
ing. Her quilt “Row Houses” was selected one of the 100 Best American Quilts of the 20th Century. Row Houses and several of
Flavin's Log Cabin landscape quilts are featured in various television programs, including HGTV's Simply Quilts.
Some of her new, innovative designs are patterned and available for order on her website. Flavin's Spring Star quilt is on the cover of Log Cabin Quilts by Weiss and Causee. Spring Star pattern is featured in the text. Tus-can Village and Stepping Out in Color are two of Flavin's designs featured in Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting
