1 About this Guide

This guide contains instructions on how to get started with your SAP Jam mobile app, along with quick steps for frequently used features.

NoteDue to the volume of enhancements for the November 2016 release, all SAP Jam mobile app users who are working with previous versions (e.g., August 2016 and previous) are required to upgrade to this current version. After upgrading to the current version, to facilitate more frequent updates which include resolved issues, the system will prompt users to upgrade whenever there is a new version of the SAP Jam mobile app available.

2 How to: Activate and log in

In this section, you will learn how to activate your new SAP Jam mobile app from your mobile device or web application. If the mobile app is not already installed on your iPhone or iPad, you can search for and download the SAP Jam mobile app from the iTunes® app store (e.g., http://appstore.com/sapjam).

NoteSingle sign on support is not currently available.

Prerequisites

Before you get started with activation, in SAP Jam go to the Settings (cog icon) > Account menu. From there, you can click Mobile Setup > Setup instructions and send the set up instructions to your email address.

Or, you can obtain the following information from your company administrator for SAP Jam:

● Your corporate SAP Jam Server● Your SAP Jam company (e.g., in the form of a domain like "sap.com")

There are five ways that you can activate the SAP Jam mobile app. Internet browsers will open within the app to help you complete activation. See the following sections for each method.

Activate via mobile camera with QR Code

NoteThe QR code is available for a limited, one time use only. The same code cannot be used by multiple devices.


How to: Activate and log in

To activate directly from your mobile camera with a QR Code

1. Open the SAP Jam mobile app.2. On the SAP Jam screen, below the Connect button, tap Activate via Camera.3. The Activate via Camera screen displays with instructions on how to log in and then scan with the QR code.

Settings > Mobile Setup, click Activate via Camera.5. With your mobile camera, scan the QR code image that appears. You'll have thirty seconds to scan the current

code before it expires.

access to your SAP Jam account. Tap Allow to complete the activation process. The internet browser page will display the message "Congratulations! You have activated your SAP Jam mobile app."

Activate via domain credentials

To activate directly using your login credentials

1. Open the SAP Jam mobile app.2. On the SAP Jam screen, tap Activate via Credential.3. Enter your SAP Jam domain or choose one from the drop-down list, enter your company ID and then tap Next.

NoteIf using a custom domain, once you enter the domain, you are re-directed to a login page to enter your login credentials.

4. You are re-directed to the quick activation page. Tap Activate.5. On the Authorization page, tap Allow to authorize access to your account.

1. Tap Activate on the top of your screen. The activation will expire in 30 seconds.

1. Once the SAP Jam mobile app is installed, tap the URL that was sent to you in your email to launch and configure the app.

2. Tap Connect.3. A secondary authentication screen displays if the server and company information that you entered is correct.

NoteAs SAP Jam supports custom identity provider (IdP) proxies, the secondary authentication screen may look and operate very different from the following example and can be tailored to your organization’s security needs. Please contact your local SAP Jam company administrator if you encounter issues.

or deny SAP Jam mobile app access to your SAP Jam account. Tap Allow to complete the activation process.

Your device will remain activated with no need to re-authenticate, unless 1. your device is explicitly deactivated via the SAP Jam web application, 2. you click on the logout button located on the Profile screen, or 3. your SAP Jam account is deactivated.

If you obtained the set up information from your company administrator, then

1. Open the SAP Jam mobile app.2. Tap Server for a list of valid SAP Jam servers and select your organization's server.3. Tap Company and enter your company's public internet domain.4. Proceed with steps 2 to 4 in the previous set of steps for emailed instructions.

To activate from the SAP Jam web application

1. Go to SAP Jam on your internet browser on your computer.2. Click the Gear icon from the top toolbar on the right to view the settings drop-down menu.

Jam mobile app and provide a URL encoded with the necessary configuration details. If the incorrect email address or no email address is provided, you can enter the correct email address in the text box.

The mobile app opens with the Server and Company information. Click Connect.8. A secondary authentication screen displays if the server and company information that you entered is correct.9. Once you are authenticated through the secondary authentication screen, a final dialog prompts you to allow

or deny SAP Jam mobile app access to your SAP Jam account. Click Allow to complete the activation process.

2.1 How to: Log in with Face ID

You can also access the SAP Jam mobile app for iOS by using Face ID, a secure login process.

On the Enter passcode screen, tap OK on the "Do you want to allow SAP Jam to use Face ID?" prompt.

3 How to: Log out

There are two ways to exit from the SAP Jam mobile app.

To log out directly from the SAP Jam mobile app

1. Go to the Profile screen on your mobile device.2. Click Log out.

To log out of the SAP Jam mobile app from the web application

1. Go to the SAP Jam web application.2. Click the Settings (cog icon) at the top of the page and choose Account.3. Click Mobile Setup.4. Click Manage Devices.5. Use the device description to locate the device.6. Click the x to log out.

4 Secure passcodes

Your company administrator can choose to enforce a regular or alphanumeric passcode for your organization. If your company administrator has enabled the strong app passcode mode of 8 to 12 alphanumeric characters, you can also enter special characters in addition to numbers and alphabet characters.

NoteIf you are using an older version of the SAP Jam mobile app, and the company administrator has just enabled the strong app passcode mode, you will see an "Unauthorized Access" error message. Please ensure you have upgraded to the latest version of the SAP Jam mobile app.

5 Screen navigation

There are four main screens: feeds, groups, notifications and profile. From each screen, you can perform a search. Profiles are interactive; you can single-tap to call, email or map a user directly from their profile.

For ease of group collaboration, the mobile app allows you to instantly interact with any group you belong to. Posting status updates, videos, photos and documents has been simplified.

5.1 How to: Work with feeds

From the main feed screen, you can see all your feed activities such as posted updates and media from all the people you follow, groups you belong to, and your organization.

You can use this screen to interact and collaborate with people while processing inbound information.

Like, comment, and share

Apply a filter for specific group items

You can apply custom filters to control what feed activities display on your screen. This helps to restrict the content based on who or which group you are most interested in receiving feed updates from. A group-based filter can help you quickly navigate their feed activity and also post updates, photos and videos to that group with a few taps.

To apply a custom filter

1. From the main feed screen, tap the left icon.2. From the drop-down list, choose one of the following:

○ Feed: all feed items that mention or notify you.○ Group name: a list of up to the top five most recently visited groups on your device.

NoteIf you want to add a new group to the quick filter menu, visit the group from the main group screen and then it will appear in the menu. As you interact with groups, the ones that you visit most recently are displayed in the feed navigation menu.

Post and share an item

There are two ways to share updates, photos, and videos with others:

To share with your feed followers

1. Tap the + icon from the bottom right of the feed screen.2. Tap one of the following icons to indicate the type of post you want to share: Photo, Video, and Text Update. If

you choose photo or video, you can select a file that already exists on your device or upload a new photo or video. You can also enter a description.

1. Select the group.2. Tap the + icon from the bottom right of the feed screen.3. Depending on group participation setup, tap one of the following icons to indicate the type of post you want to

share: Photo, Video, Questions, Ideas, Discussion, and Text Update. If you choose photo or video, you can select a file that already exists on your device or upload a new photo or video. You can also enter a description.

You can edit or delete text within feed items or feed item itself, or comments to feed items that you posted.

Tap Feed at the top and then tap Unread to view the items you haven't read yet. When done, you can tap Mark All Read. The screen will show the message "Nothing to display - you're all caught up."

5.2 How to: Work with feeds (iOS)

Likes and comments

You can let someone know that you like or agree with their post by clicking Like or entering a comment. If you see a number after the Like or Comment icon, it indicates the number of likes or comments associated with this post.

Clicking on the body of the item or the Comment icon allows you to drill down into the main body of the item and see who liked the item and comments that are attached.

@Mentions

To draw someone's attention to your post, you can use the "@mention" syntax.

To use @mention

1. From a feed status update or a comment to a feed item, type the @ symbol. A list of valid SAP Jam user names appears.

2. As you type the first few letters of the name, the list will shorten to produce a more accurate match.3. Tap the name of the person you want to mention. They will be notified of your post.

Post and share an item

There are two ways to share updates, photos, and videos with others:

1. Click the post icon from the top left of the feed screen.2. Tap Update, Photo, or Video to post and update with text, photo, or video, respectively. If you choose photo or

video, you can select a file that already exists on your device or upload a new photo/video. You can also enter a description.

To share with a specific group (that you recently visited)

1. Tap the All menu.2. Select the group.3. Click the post icon from the top left of the feed screen.

5.3 How to: Work with groups (Android)

Group interaction with the SAP Jam mobile app on Android occurs via a separate toolbar layout.

5.4 How to: Create custom event categories

Group administrators can create custom events, allowing group members to use more meaningful or accurate categories for their group experience.

1. As a group administrator, you can tap Events from the menu.

2. Tap the + Add category and enter a custom category name. You can also choose from one of seven colors to represent the new category.

5.5 How to: Work with calendars, events, and tasks

Group members can view events via a calendar or in a list view. For each event, they can invite other members, and share a link to the event.

Synchronize calendars

You can synchronize tasks and events from SAP Jam into the calendar of your mobile device. Each event and task contains a deep link that opens in the SAP Jam app. Whenever events are updated, the calendar is updated in a timely manner.

Calendar updates on your mobile device are not synchronized back to SAP Jam at this time. However, you can update the SAP Jam calendar from the SAP Jam mobile app.

NoteThe calendar integration for iOS will not function correctly if the Google calendar is set up to be the primary calendar for iOS.

View, create, share, and invite

After you tap Events, you can choose to view within a calendar or list.

To create a new event, tap + on the right side and fill out the date, time zone selection, description, location, category, and prioritization details. Click Create to create the event immediately or Create and Invite to create the event at same time as you invite members.

If you want to share a link to the event, you can click the menu beside the event name and choose Copy Link. You can also remove a group event by clicking Delete.

You can also invite other group members to an event by tapping Invite members, which is located below the guest list.

If you have been invited to join an invite, you can click a drop-down list within the event to indicate whether you wish to join, decline, or a maybe (e.g., cannot officially commit to a yes or no yet).

Tasks on Android

On the main menu navigation, tap Tasks. To add a task, click the + icon beside the Filter text box at the top of the screen.

When filtering tasks on Android and iOS, you can search for tasks with Open, Completed, In Progress, and All statuses under My Tasks.

NoteAs a task creator on the mobile app, ensure that you assign the task to yourself so that you can track, edit, or delete the task.

5.6 How to: Invite external users to a group

SAP Jam group administrators can invite external users to a group by entering the user's email address in the invitation.

5.7 How to: Manage content items

Like the web application, once content items are added to a group, and based on the group member permissions, you can perform various actions on each item.

● Upload New Version: Replace the current version of the item with a new one.● Download: Download the item to your mobile device.● Move: Move the item to a different group content folder.● Edit Permissions: Change the permissions on the item to read-only, limited, or full access.● Delete: Move the item to the group trash.

You can preview a document using pinch, zoom, and pan navigation actions. To change pages, you can now swipe up and down (iOS) rather than tap forward and page back icons.

Version history

You can tap the i icon on the content item viewing tool bar to access versions of a selected content item. When there is more than one version, the Version History section will be available, where you can:

● view a list of versions.

5.8 How to: Manage group admin role

As a group administrator, you can tap on a member from a group members list and assign the group administrator role to them (Make Group Admin), remove their group administrator role (Remove from Group), remove them from the group, or remove a long-standing group invitation to an SAP Jam user who never accepted the request.

5.9 How to: Pin groups to Favorites

On the Groups screen, you can click a pin icon on the top right side of a group tile to save your group to a Favorites bar that appears at the top of the screen. You can pin up to 10 of your favorite groups on a horizontally scrollable bar. If you attempt to pin more than 10 groups, an alert message indicates that you have already reached the maximum allowable groups to pin.

1. On the Groups screen, tap the pin icon on the upper right of the group tile.

New groups are added to the left and existing groups moved to the right of the horizontal scrolling bar. You can drag and drop your pinned favorite group within the Favorites bar.

1. Press and hold the favorite group avatar from the Favorites group bar. The icon begins to vibrate and an X appears in the right corner. Tap the X to unpin.

5.10 How to: Reorder the menu (Android)

To customize their experience, under Settings Menu , SAP Jam mobile app users can tap and drag menu items to reorder them on the Android menu bar.

5.11 How to: Scan with QR codes

The SAP Jam QR Code scanner supports SAP Jam specific QR codes or any other QR codes encoding a valid web URL.

NoteYou can also use any other online or desktop QR Code generation utility by copying a valid SAP Jam URL into the utility.

SAP Jam QR codes open corresponding screens of the SAP Jam mobile app. For URLs without a native SAP Jam mobile app screen, the corresponding responsive web SAP Jam view is shown.

Supported SAP Jam QR codes include:

● Group – public groups or semi-private groups (i.e., group with request to join enabled)


● Group overview page● Group feed● Group content section● Group content folder● Group content item● Group forum section● Group forum topic● Group forum topic item● User profile

To access the scanner on iOS device, tap Scan QR Code from the More menu.

To access the scanner on Android devices, tap Scan QR Code from the main menu. If you have a smaller screen you may need to scroll vertically.

When first accessing Scan QR Code, you are prompted to grant camera permission to the application.

Join a group

To join an SAP Jam group, as an SAP Jam mobile user, you can scan electronically shared or printed SAP Jam QR codes. For private groups that allow requests to join, when you scan the private group code you'll see the Request to join screen. When the code presents a public group, you can either join it or just access the group content.

Share

you can share SAP Jam content items, member profiles, and groups in an email, chat session, or other social media tools using a generated QR code.

QR codes are generated for the following:

● All group content items● Group homepage (or if semi-private, a request to join page)● User profile

A generated QR code can be scanned immediately or shared as an image to other mobile apps. For certain mobiles apps (e.g., messaging apps like Apple Messages), the QR code is accompanied by a corresponding URL allowing you to access the content without having to scan.


5.12 How to: Search for people, groups, and content

The search icon is located in the top right corner of the application. When you tap it, the search dialog opens where you can enter your search terms in the text area. Search results display if there are any matches. By default, the results include people, groups, and content, but you can choose to filter for people or groups via the menu near the top of the screen.

The search results for iOS supports all of the same content types as the web application.

5.13 How to: Send a kudo

You can now send a kudo, including custom kudos, to another person in your organization. The avatar for the kudo now appears in feed updates.

5.14 How to: Set away alert

Whether you're in or out of the office, you can now set your status so colleagues know when you're away. You can also see the away status of your colleagues. These alerts display immediately after you enter them, until the end date passes, when they'll also be automatically removed from your profile and group calendars.

To set your away alert, tap Manage Away Alerts on your profile settings screen. You can also edit your existing away alert by tapping the Edit button beside Away.

When you begin to @mention a colleague who is away, their name displays, followed by "is away".


5.15 How to: Share a browser URL

From another mobile app or mobile web browser, you can share a browser URL to SAP Jam as a group content Link item.

NoteLink objects in SAP Jam are typically used to share web URLs (e.g., online articles).

When sharing a linked content item, you can select the group and preferred folder for storing the link.

you can also share a group url from the group overview page with other users by using the mobile platform share capability, copying the URL via the mobile browser address bar, or sharing via a QR code.

5.16 How to: Share with content link

You can share content items with other mobile apps by using the copy to clipboard function to obtain the URL of the content item.

5.18 How to: Turn off passcode (Android)

If you don't require the use of a passcode for the SAP Jam mobile app, you can easily enable a setting to turn it off.

5.20 How to: Upload documents

In the SAP Jam mobile app, you can upload and share multiple files directly from your mobile device.

Before you begin file upload for the first time, ensure that you enable your SAP Jam share extension on your mobile device.

5.21 How to: Upload multiple files

You can upload multiple photos and videos directly from the SAP Jam mobile app to a new or existing content folder in SAP Jam.

You can continue to engage with the SAP Jam mobile app while large media and document files are uploaded. The uploads in progress will not be interrupted if you switch to another app or receive a call. Local notifications will inform you of file upload completion or issues.

select the preferred group content folder for the uploaded files, and create a brand new folder. The actions that appear are dependent on permissions and group access level.

NoteWhen uploading large files (for example, images and videos), the upload is quickly processed. You can choose a compression size (as in small, medium, large, or leave as original size) for images and videos. The number of files that are uploading is also indicated.


5.22 How to: Use the knowledge base

As an SAP Jam mobile user, you can view a group's knowledge base articles.

For each knowledge base article, you can view the number of likes and comments, make a comment, like the article, view the detailed metadata, and share the article's URL via mobile sharing. You can use search filters to find a particular knowledge base article.

5.23 How to: Work with messages

Messages provide a quick and convenient way to converse with others within your company or with colleagues who do not have company provisioned emails. New messages appear in real-time and can include other groups and colleagues, up to a maximum thirty groups and individual participants combined.

NoteOn Android devices, notification is dependent upon Google Cloud Messaging.

5.24 How to: Work with metadata

You can view content item metadata such as parent group name, parent folder name, last updated details, number of views, number of downloaders, and file size.

Ensure that the language settings on your mobile device match your selected language option in SAP Jam.

1. In SAP Jam, go to the global menu bar on the top of the page, click the Settings icon and choose Account Settings.
