The function was organised by Chairman of the Association, Ved Gandotra and Vice Chairman Rajiv Mahajan. Rajiv Mahajan said that Lal Bahadur Shastri epitomised strength and simplicity. "Shastri ji led India at a cru- cial time and worked hard to make our nation more pros- perous. He understood the significance of farmers and soldiers and shares his Birth Anniversary with the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi, Shastri coined the term 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan'. He plunged into the freedom struggle while he was in his teens," Mahajan added. "Let us rededicate ourselves to the values espoused by Shastri Ji - peace, fraternity, harmony and inclusive national development. Shastriji's message remains relevant for all and he contin- ues to be our guiding light," Mahajan maintained. The workshop was organ- ised for in-service teachers at higher secondary level in the subjects of English, Hindi, Urdu, Political Science and Education. It was organised in collabora- tion with the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha J&K. "An FIR 3/19 under Sections 448, 382, 147 and 427 RPC was lodged against Aditi who is also President of Aditi Welfare India Charitable Trust and others, at Police Station Nowabad Jammu on a complaint of Radhey Sham, son of Chandi Parshad, resi- dent of Uttarakhand at pres- ent Pujari Shiv Mandir, Tirath Nagar, Talab Tillo Jammu", police said adding that Radhey Sham has alleged that Aditi along with Tirth Kumar, son of Des Raj, resi- dent of Tirath Nagar Talab Tillo Jammu, Neel Choudhary, Mulkh Raj and Dilip Singh barged in the tem- ple premises with vested inter- est. "On this, the Police Post Talab Tillo Jammu has lodged a FIR against all the accused under the relevant sections of law", police added. Meanwhile, Aditi Sharma, in a statement issued here, said "There is a malicious and politically motivated allega- tion leveled against me by an outsider functioning as priest who had been asked to vacate the Shiv Temple premises at Tirath Nagar, Talab Tillo, Jammu by the Shiv Shakti Sarvdharam Welfare Trust with its Head Office at Tirath Nagar, Talab Tillo, Jammu which had duly passed a reso- lution to this effect in September 2018." Four gamblers arrested in Srinagar STATE TIMES NEWS SRINAGAR: Police arrested four gamblers and recov- ered Rs 4,230 stake money from the gambling site. Acting on a tip-off, a party of Police Station Kralkhud raided a gambling den in Basant Bagh Gowkadal area and arrested four gamblers namely Zahoor Ahmad Najar, son of Habibullah Najar, resident of Mandirbagh, Shahnawaz Ahmad Tramboo, son of late Ali Mohd Tramboo, Jamsheed Ali Malla, son of Ali Mohd Malla and Abdul Majid Kant, son of Mohd Sultan Kant, all res- idents of Basantbagh. A police party of Police Station Khanyar arrested a drug peddler during Naka checking at Naid Kadal area of Khanyar in Srinagar. The drug peddler namely Zahid Manzoor Mir, son of Manzoor Ahmad Mir, resident of Daulat Abad Khanyar was arrested and a large quantity of banned codeine phosphate bottles were recovered from his possession. STATE TIMES NEWS SRINAGAR: Former IAS officer Shah Faesal, who quit the service recently, Friday shared his future plans, saying he would not join any mainstream political parties "as of now", or separatist Hurriyat Conference, but would be happy to con- test the upcoming parliamentary elections. The 2010-batch officer said he was deeply inspired by the style of politics of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, but the "situation" in Jammu and Kashmir would not allow him to pursue politics their style. "As of now, I do not have any plans to join any existing main- stream political party. I plan to go to the field, listen to the ground, to the youngsters and important stakeholders and then take a decision," he told reporters here. "I am deeply inspired by Imran Khan and Arvind Kejriwal. But, we know we are operating in a conflict zone and it is not very easy for us to work in that space, a space which has lost legitimacy in last few years. "I wish if the youngsters of the state give me that kind of opportunity, I will be happy to do a retake of Imran Khan and Kejriwal," Faesal added. He said he would be holding consultations with all staekholders including political parties before taking the next step. "In Kashmir, we need to come together. We are in a cri- sis situation. It is not time to do politics on the graves of the people." Asked if he would be contesting the elections, Faesal said, "I will be happy to contest the upcoming elections. In fact, I believe parliament and legislature are important space and we need well-meaning and right people there." He said that in the recent years, due to the "delegitimising" of the electoral politics because of the way it has been conduct- ed, youths are not attracted to it. "We need to change that. I wish to use Parliament for engagement, for bringing solutions to our problems." Govt seeks nominations for appointment of Vigilance Comm STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: The State Government on Friday sought nominations for the appoint- ment of Vigilance Commissioner upto January 20, 2019. According to order issued here, all the administrative secretaries are requested to submit fresh nominations for consideration against the vacant position of Vigilance Commissioner in the Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Commission. The nomina- tions should reach the General Administration Department by or before January 20, 2019, beyond which no nomination shall be entertained, the order in this regard reads. It was also clarified that the persons nominated by the departments in response to OM dated May 18, 2018 need not be recommended again. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Residents of Nai Basti near Satwari here on Friday staged protests against a sex racket being run in the vicinity. Jammu Municipal Corporation Corporator Pawan Singh said that the racket was allegedly opera- tional for several years with police looking to the other side. Whenever the mastermind of the racket was picked up by police on the face of resent- ment of the people, within days he used to be set free. "We have approached the police and lodged complaints but no action has been taken" said the Corporator. He also showed a diary seized from the house and the restaurant on the ground floor having names of some of the girls (age 10 to 15 years) with phone numbers. "The Nai Basti residents assembled in the vicinity this evening and lodged a com- plaint with the police," he said adding that the pimp and some other persons have been taken into custody. Amid slo- gan shouting, the locals demanded strict action against them. Meanwhile, police said that inquiry has been initiated and if the allegations are estab- lished, law will take its own course. Ruckus at oath-taking ceremony of village heads of Jammu division STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Some elected vil- lage heads Friday created a ruckus during their oath- taking ceremony in Jammu city, demanding they be allowed to take the oath in Dogri language. Sarpanch Shiv Dev Singh of Barnoti block of Kathua district led the group to demand that they be allowed to take oath in Dogri, instead of Urdu, and raised slogans in support of the lan- guage. Their demand was later accepted. Shortly after another group of village heads start- ed demanding that they be allowed to take in oath in Kashmiri, leading to tension during the function attended by Governor Satya Pal Malik. Policemen and other offi- cials present there pacified the situation. Governor Malik later con- gratulated the village heads and government functionar- ies for the successful conduct of the panchayat election under "very trying circum- stances". STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Five-day work-shop for in-service teachersorganised by State Instituteof Education (SIE),Jammu concluded here onFriday.

The workshop was organ-ised for in-service teachersat higher secondary level inthe subjects of English,Hindi, Urdu, PoliticalScience and Education. Itwas organised in collabora-tion with the Directorate ofSamagra Shiksha J&K.

The workshop was con-ducted under the overallsupervision of JointDirector (Trainings) SIEJammu, J.K Sudan inwhich all the field advisorsand faculty of SIE werepresent.

Mohinder Singh, FA,while speaking on the occa-sion, exhorted upon all par-ticipants to adopt the best

pedagogical techniques toimprove the quality of edu-cation and achieve the aca-demic excellence.

A total of 100lecturers/senior lecturersfrom across the 10 districtsof Jammu Province partici-pated in the training.Twenty participants in eachsubject attended the work-shop to hone their skills.

STATE TIMES NEWSSRINAGAR: Former IAS officer Shah Faesal, who quit theservice recently, Friday shared his future plans, saying hewould not join any mainstream political parties "as of now", orseparatist Hurriyat Conference, but would be happy to con-test the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The 2010-batch officer said he was deeply inspired by thestyle of politics of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan andDelhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, but the "situation" inJammu and Kashmir would not allow him to pursue politicstheir style.

"As of now, I do not have any plans to join any existing main-stream political party. I plan to go to the field, listen to theground, to the youngsters and important stakeholders andthen take a decision," he told reporters here.

"I am deeply inspired by Imran Khan and Arvind Kejriwal.But, we know we are operating in a conflict zone and it is notvery easy for us to work in that space, a space which has lostlegitimacy in last few years.

"I wish if the youngsters of the state give me that kind ofopportunity, I will be happy to do a retake of Imran Khan andKejriwal," Faesal added.

He said he would be holding consultations with allstaekholders including political parties before taking the nextstep. "In Kashmir, we need to come together. We are in a cri-sis situation. It is not time to do politics on the graves of thepeople."

Asked if he would be contesting the elections, Faesal said, "Iwill be happy to contest the upcoming elections. In fact, Ibelieve parliament and legislature are important space and weneed well-meaning and right people there."

He said that in the recent years, due to the "delegitimising"of the electoral politics because of the way it has been conduct-ed, youths are not attracted to it. "We need to change that. Iwish to use Parliament for engagement, for bringing solutionsto our problems."
