Scholarship Fund “Make a Difference” Weekend – March 28-29, 2020

This weekend is a great way to have a good me while supporng our fantasc Indian Ridge Country Club staff! The Indian Ridge Scholarship Fund provides grants for higher educaon to the children of our employees. Many of them are the first in their families to aend college.

The Fund’s “Make a Difference” weekend includes the popular Casino Night and dinner on Saturday night, March 28. A fun 9-hole golf tournament followed by lunch will be held on Sunday, March 29. Many of the Fund’s scholarship recipients will tell their personal stories at the lunch. Mark your calendar today for this important weekend.

REMINDER: Two Excellent Opportunies for Prospecve Members

If you have friends who are currently looking to join a private club in the desert… to lease a home with membership privileges… or to buy a home, we encourage you to invite them to aend one of our two scheduled “By Invitaon Only” events. These are for qualified prospecve members who have been referred by an Indian Ridge member. Both our “A Day at the Ridge” event and “Experience Indian Ridge” weekend are excellent opportunies for true prospecve members to experience all that Indian Ridge has to offer our members:

A Day at The RidgeSaturday, December 14, 2019

Experience Indian RidgeFriday, February 28 – Sunday, March 1, 2020

To refer a friend to membership and invite them to parcipate in one of these two special prospecve member events, please contact Pat Macdonell (760) 772-7281 or Linda Granillo (760) 834-6323 in the Membership Office.

FROM THE PRESIDENT

▪▪▪▪

On behalf of the Board of Directors and our outstanding staff, welcome to all Indian Ridge Country Club members for the 2019-20 season. I’m honored to serve as the Club President for this year. We have a vibrant Club, with great membership, outstanding services and an enviable financial posion.

Our Board is connuously planning for the Club’s needs. We idenfied and established the following goals for this season:

Ensure the Member Experience provides a great lifestyle with luxury country club accommodaonsAchieve Membership Level Opmizaon by meeng targeted membership levels Plan Facility Enhancements for current and future membersOperate with a commitment to Fiscal Stability & Sustainability Support the well-developed HOA / PUD Working Relaonship

Our Club made significant investments in our facilies over the past three years. This summer we idenfied several areas for updang. A sampling of these include:

Golf Facilies: Golfers will enjoy the remodeled green on Arroyo hole 9 to allow for a more recepve shot. The “drop zones” on both courses were remodeled and expanded. Our expansive pracce facility was renovated to allow for more targeted pracce.

Fitness Center and Spa: The Spa lobby was remodeled to achieve a stunning first-class look and feel throughout the facility. Look for new stretching, training and addional Pilates equipment in our Fitness Center, updated digital lockers in the locker rooms and a renovated Men’s Atrium.

Food and Beverage: The kitchen equipment at ever-popular JK’s Cafe was enhanced to improve operang efficiency and service for our members. The Ridge Room dining experience will be enhanced by new chairs.

Tennis and Pickleball: Both areas were updated with new umbrellas, tables and chairs and recondioned water fountains to facilitate more comfortable play.

Consistent with our Mission and Vision statements, the Board and staff are commied to long-range planning. Our planning forecasts the replacement of the golf course irrigaon systems starng in 2022 for the Grove Course and in 2027 for the Arroyo Course. These combined projects have projected costs in excess of $7 million. Through proper foresight, creave iniaves, good decision-making, membership and revenue growth, effecve management of operaonal and capital expenditures and proper stewardship of our finances, we ancipate funding will come from our exisng Capital Funds, without a member assessment!

I look forward to enjoying our Club with you this season.

The posive feedback from our members who have seen the remodel has been terrific as they book hair, nail, facial and massage therapy appointments. For your Dining Enjoyment…

Our amazing staff at JK’s Café are looking forward to reconnecng with members as they return for the season. With the connued growth in membership, we made some behind the scenes enhancements at JK’s over the summer months to accommodate the increased demand at our popular poolside dining venue. Come try out some of Chef Mike’s new menu items that include: broccoli ricoa quiche, eggs benedict and chicken & waffles!

Stylish new dining room chairs have been ordered for the Ridge Room and are scheduled to arrive in me for New Year’s Eve to ring in 2020 at the Ridge!

Indian Ridge YETI Water Boles & Reducon of Plasc Waste

By encouraging members to carry their Indian Ridge YETI boles, we have been successful in our commitment to environmental conservaon by decreasing plasc waste. Our 2019 program was effecve in reducing plasc water bole usage by over 50,000 boles and our 2020 goal is to reduce plasc water bole usage by another 50,000!

YETI bole water refill staons now exist at the Player’s Pavilion on the north side of the Range, on the south side of the Range, at the Golf Performance Center, in 4 locaons on the golf courses, in the Fitness Center, both Locker Rooms, at The SPA at the Ridge, and at the Tennis & Pickleball courts.

Not only are we making a posive impact on our environment with our YETI program, they make a great gi and can be purchased in each of our Pro Shops!

We recently welcomed Execuve Chef Mike Milligan to Indian Ridge. Mike is an accomplished Execuve Chef, passionate about his food, with exemplary skills and creavity. Mike’s abilies to lead a culinary team to excellence in food quality, variety, and consistency make him an outstanding addion to our Club!

We sat down with Mike to talk about his vision for our members’ dining experience at Indian Ridge.

What do our members have to look forward to this season?

I’ll be picking up where Chef Chris Mitchum le off. This is a transion year, but Chris le us in a great posion and ready for the season ahead. We’ll focus on fresh seafood, prime cuts of meat, and local, garden-fresh produce.

We’re also going to maximize efficiency to present the best quality product. I’m speaking with our vendors to bring in the highest quality versions of the already excellent ingredients we use. Your taste buds are in for a treat.

Your past experience is certainly impressive – from the Hya Regency to Agua Caliente and Lulus. What are the greatest strengths you bring to a member-owned club?

I’ve been in hospitality for over 20 years. I feel like I listen very well and understand how to translate the members’ wants and desires into something that not only meets expectaons, but exceeds them.

I also don’t come with an inflated ego. I’m very open-minded and willing to take construcve feedback. My desire is to make the members happy and to create the best received version of a menu item.

With the increased interest in healthier menu opons, what can we expect to see?

Health is always in focus. When we source a product, we’re always looking for the most wholesome product available with minimal preservaves. We also search for locally grown produce.

Our menu items are easily altered for diet constraints and include gluten free and vegetarian opons. We’re looking to add healthier items to the menu, while offering fulfilling and sasfying choices.

Will you be adding to or changing the current menu offerings our members enjoy?

Yes, we’re keeping all the favorites and adding savory, new dishes. We have added fresh lump crab tostada, fig & goat cheese tart, and a seared ahi wrap in the Clubhouse. We’ve also increased the menu size at JK’s Café, so you’ll have more delighul opons to choose from.

Indian Ridge is known for having an extremely acve social calendar. We’re going to have a busy, sold-out season. Are you excited to join us for the season ahead?

I’m extremely excited for the 2019-20 season! I’m all about working smarter, not harder. I live for efficiency and know I’m ready for a posively evenul year! I’m eager to meet and interact with members and provide memorable dining experiences.

Maximizing our Members’ Golf Experience

We are fortunate to be reaching our opmum level of membership in all categories for the 2019-2020 season. The target limits for 2020, as idenfied by the Board, are 490 Golf Members and 975 total Members. To maximize our members’ golf experience as we near capacity, several key addions have been made for the 2020 season: Staff have been idenfied specifically to manage the tee sheets daily; an on-course Player Assistant has been dedicated to ensure proper pace of play; and staff now has “real me” access to our tee sheet on Fore Tees via enhanced Wi-Fi on the range.

As if the Courses and Pracce Areas Could Get Any Beer!

We have many new and excing enhancements to our golf courses and pracce facilies for the 2020 season. The Arroyo 9 Green was raised slightly to allow shots to hold beer on chips and short approaches, and the overall green complex was enlarged.
