Making Disciples:
Leading Unbelievers to Christ
Leading Believers to Christlikeness
“Make Disciples” Matthew 28:18-20
"Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”" (Matthew 28:18-20)
MAY2015 SAVE THE DATES & PRAY FOR SALVATIONS
Dear Church Family,
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is just around the corner! I am excited with anticipation of what the Lord is going to do in our midst at that time.
Please take two actions to help make our VBS a great success:
1. Save the Dates.
2. Pray for Salvations.
Save the Dates - Mark them on your calendars: Sunday, June 28 through Thursday, July 2. Plan on being at VBS and plan to bring someone with you. Make a firm commitment. Don’t let other events or activities sway you from attending and participating in this special event.
Pray for Salvations - Ask the Lord to save souls during our VBS. Pray earnestly for hearts to be touched by the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. People need the Lord - folks of all ages can come to trust Christ as their personal Savior through VBS.
VBS is one of our most effective evangelism and outreach tools. This event has the potential to sow the seeds of the gospel as well as to harvest souls through the gospel.
Let us bathe in prayer every aspect of our VBS. Please pray for Mrs. Suzanne McLelland, our Children's Director and VBS Director. Please pray for our teachers and workers. Please pray for our students of all ages.
Thank you in advance for letting the Lord use you as a willing vessel of ministry in our Vacation Bible School. To God be the glory!
"For God so loved the world that He gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should
not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
In Christ, Pastor Calvin
A DATE FOR ALL LADIES OF THE CHURCH
TO REMEMBER:
Ladies, mark Tuesday, May 12th on your calendars and make plans to at-tend the TBA WMU Annual meeting. It will be held at Peachtree Memo-rial Church starting at 5:30 PM. It is a covered dish affair and will include music, entertainment and a talk by a missionary. It is an evening of good food, fellowship and uplifting information about missions and God’s work
in this world.
"Phillipians 4:8.....if there be anything worthy of praise-think on these things."
Praise report: Thank you AFBC for renting the space next to our site for an
expanded Operation Help/Hope ministry. Thank you landlord for reducing the monthly rent. More on this expanded ministry later.
Operation Help/Hope food bag ministry delivered 978 bags to Andrews schools. As always our volunteers are ready, willing and able to get these food bags to the children. Thanks Bill Huffines, Terry Postell and Chuck Davis for seeing last week's bags were delivered. Due to circumstances beyond our control. our Manna meeting has been rescheduled.
Meeting with our schools Superintendent revealed a "dream" she has--no child will need to purchase school supplies. Plans are being made to partner with churches to make this dream come true. More on our "Back to School" plans to come.
Another summer project, working with Manna supplying food bags to children attending our area Vacation Bible Schools. More on this ministry to come.
We are looking forward to a busy summer!
"Ministry takes place when divine resources meet human needs though loving channels to the glory of God." W,Weirshbe "Being a Servant of God". Nancy
DRIVE-IN CHRISTIAN MOVIE MINISTRY Our own Bro. Kent Chapman has years of experience and expertise in conducting a drive-in Christian movie ministry. He is willing to help in any way if you are in-terested in being part of such a gospel ministry in our area. If the Lord is leading you to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ in this unique way, please contact Bro. Kent at (828) 321-3757.
People love movies - and God loves people!
Worship Ministry at Valley View. Our church currently has a vital Sun-day morning ministry at Valley View Care and Rehabilitation Center. We would like to begin a Sunday afternoon ministry as well, in conjunction with other churches. Musicians, Singers, Teachers, and Preachers are needed. If the Lord is leading you to be a part of this ministry, or if you would like more detailed information, please contact Mrs. Virginia Adams (321-3176) or Mr. Larry Dailey (321-2511). Thank you for giving prayerful consideration to this ministry op-portunity.
Hello, Church Family!
I’m excited to share with you some important events and news
concerning our children’s ministry!
First of all, thank you so much for the generosity you showed by giving to the Annie Armstrong offering our CIA’s collected last month. Through your giving, we collected $277! Thanks to
everyone who filled their eggs!
There are some special events happening next month that I want everyone to be aware of. On June 6th, our children will be taking a trip to Lake Winnie to celebrate the end of the school year! I hope all of our little ones can come. If you are interested in chaperoning, please let me know. I will have a sign-up sheet out soon for chil-
dren, parents and chaperones, so be on the lookout!
I can’t believe that next month we kickoff Vacation Bible School! Our theme this year is Journey off the Map, and it is sure to be a fun filled and adventurous week! Our VBS dates are June 28-July2. So many of you have already signed up to help. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! If you haven’t talked to me yet and would like to help, you are needed! Please prayerfully consider where the Lord
might use you during this week.
I hope everyone has a wonderful (and warm!) month of May!
In His Love, Suzanne
WOW
Our Bible studies are almost to an end .One lady has stated that” God has used the intense Bible study for Children of the Day to draw me into a closer relationship with Him.”
Another lady says “I have enjoyed the Made to Crave Bible study. It has brought me closer to God by being ’in the word’ and made me more aware of my health in the physical, spiritual and emotional sense. It reminds us to pray about everything. Nothing – not even what you eat – is too small to pray about. Our body is God’s temple and we should treat it as such”.
We are looking forward to the Priscilla Shirer simulcast on Saturday May 16th.
Pray that:
we will be led to offer more Bible studies that will be used to draw us into deeper relationships with the Lord.
He will use us to grow His kingdom, the women in our church and community will become Women of the Word and
other women will be led to help facilitate Bible studies.
In the meantime ladies, “Stay in the Word” and
“Pray without ceasing.”
Isaiah 55:11 “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” KJV
Ephesians 6:18 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints……….”NKJV
2 Thessalonians 3:16”The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you
all…..”
Love to all, Virginia
Wednesday Evening Bible Study - On Wednesdays at 6:30 pm, we are enjoying a short-term Bible study in our sanctuary.
The Gospel in Work Boots: Developing a Passion for the Practical (A Study of the Book of James) is being taught by Bro. Jonathan Chapman.
This Bible book study on practical Christian living is a blessing to us all. Please attend and be engaged in the Word.
Happy Spring!! We are thankful and blessed to have performed a beautiful and spirit-filled Easter cantata in honor of our risen Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ! As we prepare for the warm temperatures ahead and plant our gardens with various different seeds, let us remember to plant the seeds of Jesus’ love. This month, we will celebrate mothers. May our mothers continue to lean on the Lord for wisdom and understanding in a world of uncertain times. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all women who have given of themselves to help others!! ‘Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.’ Proverbs 31:10 ‘She opens her mouth with wisdom and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.’ Proverbs 31: 26-28 ‘Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.’ Proverbs 31: 30-31 Always at His feet, Jennifer
Greetings Young At Hearts,
Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers!
