My Discussion with Peter Douglas

•Peter did not agree with our form of recreation

•Peter made it clear that Coastal Act is not about deciding what form of recreation was legitimate…the legislature decided Offroad recreation was a legal form of recreation.

•Peter said that the Coastal Act protects all legal recreation

•Peter recognized that the Oceano Dunes was designated a State Vehicular Recreation Area and access needed to be protected

Question: Is Oceano Dunes being treated differently because it is an SVRA?

If a large development project opened above Huntington Beach, and new land owners wanted the beach closed or reduced due to traffic, noise or air pollution….would the response from the CCC be the same?
