1 Welcome

Welcome to GE Energy Aggregator a powerful tool that helps in monitoring, understanding and managing power consumption. Energy Aggregator is based on GE PMCS Cost Allocation Module (CAM). It offers web interface for application setup and monitoring. Energy Aggregator is designed to retrieve demand and energy-related data from physical devices and to store the data in an open SQL database. Up to eight (8) parameters can be collected from each real physical meter. Once the data has been stored, it can be combined to define cost centers and virtual meters. The data can then be used to compute an electrical bill for a single cost center, a single meter, or an entire plant. You can develop billing application based on simple rate schedules. Billing reports can now be automatically generated and saved for viewing on demand. Data can be exported in ABB’s Energy Profiler® format for use by other 3rd party software applications. Energy Profiler® software is offered as an optional adder for complex rate schedules. Energy Profiler® offers various what if scenarios to help you analyze and understand your energy usage pattern. Energy Aggregator web based interface offers users capability to configure and monitor the system from any remote web browser on the Intranet. The Enterprise version allows users to monitor and aggregate from multiple remote sites. This guide is intended for system integrators and application engineers planning to install GE Energy Aggregator. For details on system setup and operation per user requirements, please refer to Energy Aggregator User’s Guide (document DEH40016) available on Energy Aggregator CD.

The difference between single-site and multi-site versions is that multi-site or enterprise version has no direct communication with physical devices. As such PMCS Modbus / DDE Server is not required for PC running the enterprise version. SQL database and the web server are the major components of the enterprise version. Single-site version has direct communication with physical devices. Each single-site installation retrieves and stores data in a local database. The data from local database is periodically uploaded to a multi-site database of another remote PC running Multi-site Energy Aggregator. Individual remote meter names at a higher Multi-site node are prefixed with the name of their parent site node followed by “/”. For example, Meter “EPM-ABC” at remote Single-site node “London” will be represented at Multi-site node as “London /EPM-ABC”. You can have more than one Multi-site Energy Aggregator installations all receiving data from their respective Single-site nodes. All these individual Multi-site nodes can be connected to a master or enterprise Multi-site Energy Aggregator. Unlike Single-site version, a Multi-site version can not offer features such as manual data editing. Multi-site version supports other features of Single-site versions such as new cost centers, virtual meters, rate-structures, billing-configurations, etc.

3 System Requirements

Make sure your PC meets following hardware and software requirements before you start installing Energy Aggregator.

3.1 Single-site Version Requirements • • • • • • • •

3.2 Multi-site Version Requirements All above requirements for single-site version also apply to multi-site version installation with following exceptions.

3.3 GE PMCS and HMI Software Upgrade Energy Aggregator installation CD includes latest PMCS-6.11a Modbus / DDE Server. In case your PC already have PMCS Modbus / DDE Server, you will be prompted to get it replaced with latest server supplied with Energy Aggregator. All other PMCS components will not be upgraded. You may want to use your option to buy and install full PMCS upgrade before installing Energy Aggregator. Make sure firmware versions of your metering devices are compatible with versions of PMCS and Energy Aggregator. In case your PMCS is using HMI software (Cimplicity or InTouch) for PMCS Wizards, make sure that your HMI software version is compatible with your upgraded PMCS version. Energy Aggregator supports MSDE-2000 database. Any old MSDE database installations will be automatically to MSDE-2000. User is advised to backup existing PMCS or other MSDE databases before installing Energy Aggregator.

3.4 Upgrade Of CAM-2.2.4 or Older Version Installation of Energy Aggregator upgrade version can automatically export old data from existing CAM database (Sybase) to new Energy Aggregator database. Take a backup of your existing CAM database. Make sure you respond to relevant pop-up messages during Energy Aggregator installation.

4 Installing Energy Aggregator

You need to know the catalog number and serial number of your Energy Aggregator software before installing the software. The catalog number is located on the product carton and also on the Energy Aggregator CD-ROM jewel case label, along with the product serial number. Also required is your order-id located on the supplied e-License information sheet.

Energy Aggregator should be installed only by qualified system integrators or advanced users. Set aside at least a half-hour and be sure to follow the procedures carefully to guarantee correct installation of your Energy Aggregator software.

4.1 PC Installation Once you have set up Windows 2000 sp3 with IIS and any third-party software (if appropriate) you are ready to install the Energy Aggregator software. Energy Aggregator should be installed last; after all other software installations are completed. Your Energy Aggregator software is provided on a CD-ROM.

The diagram below depicts the relationship of the Host PC and any optional View Nodes in your system. Follow the specific instructions below for software installation on Host PCs and View Nodes.

Every Energy Aggregator system requires one Host PC that is directly connected to the Energy Aggregator network and communicates with the power-management devices. The Host PC is used to retrieve and store data. View nodes could be any remote Windows PCs running internet browser (MS Internet Explorer 6.0).

4.2 Energy Aggregator Installation Steps

Follow the procedure below to install the Cost Allocation Module. Close any open applications before installation. Note: The Windows NT user logged on must have System Administrator privileges in order to install Energy Aggregator. If the user plans to use SQL 2000, the SQL 2000 shall be preinstalled before the Energy Aggregator installation process.

1. Insert the Energy Aggregator CD into the CD-ROM drive.

2. Double click the Setup.exe and Installation will be started as shown below.

3. This will be followed by the following Setup screen. The user must press <Next>

4. GE License Agreement appears as next screen. You must select ‘I Agree’ to adhere to the terms of the agreement to proceed with the Energy Aggregator installation.

5. At the Registration screen shown below, enter your name, your company name, and the serial number for the Energy Aggregator components you are installing. The serial number is located on the Energy Aggregator CD-ROM jewel case. If you make an error in the serial number, the installation routine will prompt you for a correct Energy Aggregator serial number. A confirmation will appear to confirm the type of installation you are performing. When you have completed the registration information, click Next.

6. This will be followed by the confirmation screen.

6. If MSDE 2000 is not installed in the machine MSDE 2000 installation will be triggered and if MSDE 1.0 is installed already it would get uninstalled. MSDE will be present on machine with GE PMCS installed. In case MSDE2000 is already installed in the machine the following message box will not appear, and in that case user can ignore the steps up to step 11.

7. Incase MSDE 1.0 is not available in the system (message above did not appear), step still 8 can be ignored. 7 (a). Option for MSDE 1.0, un installation is asked and click on “YES”.

7 (b). Un installation option for MSDE is followed as shown below, click on “yes to all”.

7 ( C). Followed by a warning message, click on “Yes”.

7 (d) Now the un installation completion box appears, click on “OK”.

8. Now MSDE Installation warnings will follow, press OK on them.

9. Now progress bar appears for MSDE 2000 installation.

10. Followed by restart option. System shall be restarted.

11. If the machine has PMCS DDE Server components installed, a warning message will be shown as given below. This message says that if pressed OK, older versions of PMCS will be replaced with Now the GE PMCS Components

12. After restart of the machine click on the setup.exe again we get following screen where the user enters the destination folder. The default folder is PMCS/CAM folder (if they are installed) else c:\GE_PMCS. Press OK after the selection.

13. If a “Yes” has been opted at step 11 or PMCS components is already present with the system the component list would look like this.

Press “Next”.

14. Now the copying of the files start and after the completion the following message box appears. If the user want to make the Energy Aggregator home press “Yes” else “no”.

15. If the user is not doing CAM to Energy Aggregator upgrade this step can be ignored. While CAM to Energy Aggregator data transfer parameter mapping is done. The mapping of CAM parameters to Energy Aggregator parameters is done in the message box shown below. CAM parameters names are shown under CAM Logged Parameters and to Energy Aggregator are to be selected under Aggregator Logged parameters. It shall be done for all the Meters configured in CAM

The above process will take some minutes and it will followed by creation of virtual folders in the IIS. During this process following two messages will pop up. Please ignore it and proceed.

When the user runs Logger application the eLicense screen appears. User can get the license either through web or over phone. The user can as well use the product for 30 days as trail. Screen of eLicense looks like as below. Click on 30 day trail for trail version.

5.1 eLicense through Web If the user has internet connection, select the ‘Web License’ option to license Energy Aggregator. Enter your eLicense Order ID (Found on your Order Confirmation Sheet) and select ‘Get License’.

5.2 eLicense through phone

If the user does not have an internet connection, select the ‘By Phone’ option to license Energy Aggregator through 888-GE-4-SERV. (Once in the GE-4-SERV automated directory, please select Technical Support, Software Licensing). The assistant will ask you for the Product SKU number and PC ID shown on the screen, as well as your eLicense Order ID (found on your Order Confirmation Sheet). The assistant will provide you with your eLicense number.

6 Changing IP Address

The IP address of the machine shall be static only; Energy Aggregator does not support dynamic IP address. The IP address of the machine where Energy Aggregator is installed shall not changed. If changed because of the specific network requirements, other updates shall be done. The steps are as follows. The steps are applicable for Energy Aggregator Enterprise version only. System restart is preferred after the IP address change.

1. Open Windows explorer, go to Enterprise_Aggregator directory of installation directory. 2. 2. Click right mouse button on fine named mcamsoapserver.WSDL.

4. Select Notepad and press OK and the file gets open on notepad. Go to the highlighted line (at bottom of the file)

5. Now replace the IP address with the new address. 6. Restart the machine.

7 Software Components Installed

The following files are installed during Energy Aggregator Site Installation with all three options selected . This does not include the files installed by separate Energy Analysis packages. Default install location: C:/GE_PMCS/Aggregator for Site version and C:/GE_PMCS/Enterprise_Aggregator for Enterprise version. Directory Name: Backup Here the AutoDB Export files are stored, by default. If the user made a CAM to Energy Aggregator this is not applicable, she AutoDB Directory continues to be the same. 8 Energy Interactive’s Energy Profiler Software Installation

Energy Interactive’s Energy Profiler is an option you can buy along with Energy Aggregator. The installation instructions are not included in this manual. Refer to Energy Profiler™ Start Guide – on the Energy Profiler Installation CD.
