Scipher.Vx+ uses an innovative approach of multiple dynamic, blended reference power curves that continuously analyze the data to enable performance specialists to more accurately compare and track changes in a turbine over its life cycle, instead of comparing turbine operational data against a contractual power curve valid only under specific conditions.

It uses turbine historical data to compute power curves spanning multiple time horizons - last 1/3/6/12 months’ power curves and utilizes a blended approach to calculate deviations from the four references into a single performance indicator.

The methodology allows for a more realistic approach to identify performance deviations taking into account factors such as seasonality, changes in turbine control parameters, aging/fatigue, and software upgrades, any of which could have occurred over the assessment period of the last 12 months.

Scipher.Fx - How It Works

Leveraging the Scipher platform, Scipher.Fx ingests real-time turbine information including live and 10-minute turbine signals and turbine metadata. Signals include active power, available power, wind speed and wind direction.

Integrates multiple numerical weather predictions (NWP). Current NWP sources include GFS and ECMWF. Weather parameters ingested from these sources include: temperature, precipitation, irradiance, air density, wind speed. Customer configurations such as forecast granularity, frequency and time horizon are captured during onboarding for data modeling.

Using machine learning techniques, a forecasting model is constructed that combines weather forecasts with sensor data, while considering hub height, environmental conditions, farm topography, and seasonality. The forecasting model is configured based on the customer configurations, to score and publish forecasts.
