Can SCAN replace all consumer research?

No, but it is ideal for early phase consumer research.

SCAN being trained in consumer problem solving techniques has the ability to think through numerous situations and span varied categories while not always being product users or the target consumer.

They are very effective in testing out hypotheses and identifying opportunities.

SCAN has been developed over the years into a community (or pool) of members with varying ages/demographics, and a high level of articulation and creative problem solving skills. SCAN members may or may not be the user of a product or the ultimate target demographic.
