PACKING SUPPLIES AND TIPS

Page 3: Schedule Your Move The Typical Moving Day€¦ · Mattress Bag Twin Protecting mattresses, box springs $6.00 Mattress Bag Full Protecting mattresses, ... It’s always best to know

What does a move cost? The total cost of any move is more than a just list of furniture. Besides furniture, the move includes many “non-furniture” items (i.e. garden tools, bicycles, lawn decor, plants, shed items, vacuums, etc.) as well as the number of boxes you have. Additional factors include packing, the number of additional stops, exterior and interior access at both locations, pre-move preparation, disassembly and reassembly, quality and delicacy of furniture, decisiveness at unload and valuation and insurance coverage.

What’s different about A2B’s long distance service? We are a different type of mover. Unlike van lines — which give their customers a range of dates for pickup and delivery — A2B guarantees specific dates with our direct relocation services. The same supervisor, crew and office coordinator will service your move from start to finish. We call this type of service a “Dedicated Move.”

What’s included in a standard move? Our supervisor-led crew will arrive on moving day with a fully equipped truck, and all required tools and supplies for disassembly of beds, cribs, attached pieces, washers, dryers, and refrigerators. In addition, we hold an initial walk-through at the new home to orient the crew before unloading, followed by reassembly of all items the crew disassembled. Finally, our crew will clean-up, and evaluate each room for final placement.

Do you use day labors or temp agency help? All of our crew members are well-trained, professional employees. Each crew member goes through an intense training program to be qualified as a member of our team. We use only proven, trusted and licensed sub-contractors for specialized services such as pool tables, grandfather clocks, cranes etc.

Do I have to empty drawers? It depends. If moving a fully loaded piece is dangerous for our staff or increases the risk of damage to the piece itself, it is better to empty the drawers. (Note: For a variety of reasons, we do NOT remove drawers when moving items.)

Empty pieces if they are: high quality, extremely heavy or oversized, older, weak or delicate, skinny or weak leg, wardrobes or armoires.

If there is room on the truck, can we just add things? It’s always best to know in advance what is being moved so we can plan the safest and most efficient way to pack the truck(s). A few, minor additions are okay but expecting to just “see how it goes” is not a good idea. Communicate any changes to our office, including changes in stops, quantities, services, access, start times, or other important information.

How can I save money on my move?First, be “Moving Ready.” If you are packing items yourself, be completely packed with boxes labeled by room. Ensure you have a plan for where everything will go in your new home. Ideally, homes are clutter free with safe work areas where crews do not have to worry about obstacles, contractors, or the safety of children or pets. If moving locally, take lamps, pictures, mirrors, hanging clothes, and electronics to your new home yourself to save on the cost of having them boxed.

Are there any items A2B cannot take? For the safety of your goods and our staff, we do not transport the following: flammables firearms or ammunition, chemicals, gasoline and propane, alcohol.

Ammunition ChemicalsGasoline and

Propane Alcohol

Choose Your CoverageProtecting your goods is an essential step to your move. When moving with A2B, you have two coverage options:

OPTION ONE

Basic Coverage — Included• Included in your moving price.

• All possessions are covered at $.60/lb. per article for any damage that might occur during the move.

• For example: A 200lb chest of drawers will be covered up to $120 (200lbs x $.60/lb.)

OPTION TWO

Full Replacement Protection• An additional cost.

• The entire shipment should be valued.

• To select your coverage and determine your cost, choose: a. the valuation amount of all goods to be moved b. your deductible .

*A minimum of $6.00/lb. is required. For example: If you have a shipment of 5,000lbs, the minimum coverage would be $30,000.
