High School Principal Tom Wissink provided a power point presentation highlighting events and

accomplishments of the 2018-2019 school year at the high school including 2018-2019 NRHS goals ACT

average composite score for the graduating class of 2020 exceeded the district goal of 22 Tiger Time was

added second semester to provide support for students next year the BARR program will be added Youth

Frontiers Respect Retreat was held for 9th grade students Ice Fest activities the addition of Heidi Link as

Assistant Principal of Academics and Aaron Anderson as School Resource Officer State Senator Schachtnerrsquos

students participated in for the 2018-2019 school year Some of these events included the Fuel Up to Play 60

Kickoff the Kind Lips program to help support nonprofit partners working to prevent bullying author Steve

Moorersquos visit to the middle school three teams from NRMS competed in the Regional Future City Competition

NRMS students participating in Hour of Code Biztown National History Day PAWS and the Service Literacy

Project the presentation of Sleeping Beauty by NRMS students Bike to School Day NRMSrsquo first year as a Trauma

Sensitive School and the upcoming trip to Washington DC and Civil War battlefields

Hillside Elementary Update ndash Principal Frank Norton

Hillside Elementary Principal Frank Norton reported on events at Hillside Elementary including the first day

assembly the reading buddy program Fire Prevention Day pictures of community field trips and various

celebrations at Hillside Zones of Regulation and pictures of students enjoying all the snow this winter

Paperjack Elementary Update ndash Principal Mike Ballard

Paperjack Elementary Principal Mike Ballard provided pictures from the Kindergarten Blue Day with School

Resource Officer Anderson various celebrations at Paperjack fourth grader Leo Schauff as Principal for the

Day Paperjack PowerUp earned $867 the Run amp Read program Fuel Up to Play 60 prize package awarded to

Starr Elementary Principal Nicholas Hall provided a presentation with pictures of Starr Elementary students

WIAA Football Only Conference Realignment and NRHS Stadium Update

District Administrator Patrick Olson informed the Board that WIAA has approved the football only

realignment New Richmond will be in the Big Rivers Conference for football only beginning in 2020

Mr Olson then provided an update on the progress of the NRHS stadium He showed the board members sample colors of the synthetic turf that will be used for the stadium and a preliminary timeline for installing the turf He also discussed the next phase which includes the stadium seating and the ticket booths and concession stands that will be built by NRHS students

2019 Staff Appreciation Week Staff Appreciation Week was May 6-10 Mr Olson thanked all staff for their service to the district

Wisconsin DOJ Safety Grant Update

Mr Olson provided an article sent to him by Police Chief Craig Yehlik The article discussed the importance

of schools having two-way radios The school district has purchased two-way radios with money received

from the DOJ grant and after having a training session they have begun using them in the buildings

Board members Greg Gartner and Kent Elkin reviewed the monthly bills with Brian Johnston Director of

Fiscal and Building Operations before the meeting and found everything to be in order

March Financial Statements Brian Johnston reviewed the March financial statements with board members

2019-2020 Preliminary Budget Update Brian Johnston reviewed the projected budget for the 2019-2020 school year

Motion by Bryan Schafer to approve the Notice of Change in Adopted Budget as presented Neal Melby

Approval of the Starr Elementary BellPaging System Recommendation

Motion by Neal Melby to approve the Starr Elementary bellpaging system recommendation as

presented and to accept the bid of $2287868 for the EPIC system proposed by Tierney Kent Elkin

Approval of Middle School Track Repair Recommendation

Motion by Paula Kolbeck to approve the Middle School track repair recommendation accepting the

District Administrator Patrick Olson informed the Board that WIAA has approved the football only

realignment New Richmond will be in the Big Rivers Conference for football only beginning in 2020

Mr Olson then provided an update on the progress of the NRHS stadium He showed the board members sample colors of the synthetic turf that will be used for the stadium and a preliminary timeline for installing the turf He also discussed the next phase which includes the stadium seating and the ticket booths and concession stands that will be built by NRHS students

2019 Staff Appreciation Week Staff Appreciation Week was May 6-10 Mr Olson thanked all staff for their service to the district

Wisconsin DOJ Safety Grant Update

Mr Olson provided an article sent to him by Police Chief Craig Yehlik The article discussed the importance

of schools having two-way radios The school district has purchased two-way radios with money received

from the DOJ grant and after having a training session they have begun using them in the buildings
