DISTRICT ATHLETICS NEWS

Hi All

Last Thursday 47 students attended the District Athletics at

Keilor Park. We had many place getters and six students have

been selected to compete in the Regionals. The students had a fantastic time, despite the constant drizzle for most of the

day. Their behaviour was great. Thanks to Grant, Annaliese, Kerrie and Donna (work experience) for their assistance on

the day.

Book Week Celebrations!

Read across the universe!

Two weeks ago at St. Albans East Primary School

we held our annual Book Week Celebrations. The

theme was Read Across the Universe!

During our book week celebrations students read a

range of books that had been short listed by the

Children’s Book Council of Australia.

Students also engaged in reading a variety of the

short listed books as part of their Reading Hour,

Art Rotations and visits to St. Albans Library.

We then ended our celebrations with a whole school

dress up day where students dressed up as their

favorite character from a book!

Special Visitor —

Leigh Hobbs!

We were very lucky to have

author and artist Leigh Hobbs

visit us during our book week

celebrations.

During his visit Leigh showed us how he draws his

characters and also showed us how to draw our own

characters.

We also enjoyed reading some of his books beforehand.

Thank you to all parents, guardians, teachers and students

who purchased Leigh Hobbs’ books during his workshops.

We appreciate your support and hope that you enjoy many

happy hours reading your new books!

Happy Reading!

TUNING INTO KIDS A

Dear Parent/carer

Tuning into Kids is a free of cost parenting program that could

make a positive difference to your child’s development both at

home and at school.

What is emotional intelligence? Emotional intelligence is about your child developing the

skills to be able to use their knowledge of emotions to make

decisions, calm themselves down and manage anger and

conflict.

The group is parent focused to help you understand your

child and respond to difficult situations as well as to help

you develop strategies to use at home.
