Yes, we can!Film, Sound and Video graduate Yeo Siew Hua scored a historic win at the 2018 Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland. His mystery thriller, A Land Imagined, is the first film from Singapore to win the coveted Golden Leopard top prize at the prestigious film festival. He also went on to clinch Best Asian Feature Film at the 2018 Silver Screen Awards of Singapore International Film Festival.

Overcoming oddsMass Communication graduate Teo Zi Lin epitomises the can-do spirit of FMS. She turned her hearing disability into an advantage by removing her hearing aids to focus better while studying. It worked – she emerged valedictorian and top graduate for the Class of 2015 and has received both job and university offers. She received the Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) Foundation Scholarship for Persons with Disabilities and is now studying at NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Speaking upIt’s easy to recognise Sonia Chew by her crystal clear voice and bubbly personality. A staple on Mediacorp radio station 987FM, Sonia shot to fame after winning the station’s 987 Radio Star competition. FSV gave me the tools to transform thoughts and ideas into moving images which was exhilarating for a wide-eyed

teenager who had just graduated from secondary school. We watched movies,

learned from them and then picked up the camera and made our own! It’s not

only a school to receive an education, it’s a place where dreams can be realised.

FMS created a ‘real world environment’ for our learning. We were grounded in theory, but had the benefit of learning from industry veterans who were our lecturers. And our

project work was either measured against industry norms and standards, or done in collaboration with real, operating media and communications companies. For those reasons, I

believe we had an accelerated entry into our professional and business endeavours.
