Sustainability:• My sustainability is probably 1. • 1 being the second worst you can get on
this scale!
Why is my lifestyle unsustainable?
• 1) I Drive over 100km a day.• 2) I eat food which is not local.• 3) I use commercial grade fertilizer for my
lawn. • 4) I am not willing to give up using my
computer, cellphone or taking showers less than 10 minutes.
An example of a paradigm shift
The change from the belief that the world was flat and the centre of the universe, to the belief that the world is round and rotates around the sun.
Many people would say that we are in the midst of paradigm shift today with regard to how we think about the environment.
Discussion questions:1. What evidence is there to support this
belief?
2. What impact would this shift have on the planet in general and Nova Scotians in particular?
3. Why might people not want to make this shift?
How sustainable is your life style?
• Sustainable means what?
Our future: • How would it feel to live in 2050? Why?
• What events happened in the past that has lead to your current situation?
• What were some of the motives behind the change / lack of change?
Our future: • What was the turning point / point of no
return?
• What do you see happening to the people of Nova Scotia after 2210?
• What advice do you have for the people of 2010?
