1.Time management 2.Marks for a question3.Key Formulas 4.Key words5.Using what they give you6.Answering the question
There are 4 crucial areas of exam technique for the science papers
![Page 7: Science Modular exams](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062314/568131fb550346895d9856a8/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
1. Time management
How many marks on the paper?
How much time do you have?
3-7 marks
45 mins
So you should aiming to get 1 mark every minute
How many questions on the paper?
How many marks for a question?
Obviously you should spend longer on the higher mark questions
77
45 marks

Scenario 1• Question 3 on your chemistry exam paper is on electrolysis, a topic you find really hard! • You reckon you can do the question but it will take you about 10 minutes. What do you do?
![Page 9: Science Modular exams](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062314/568131fb550346895d9856a8/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
2. Marks for a question

How many marks do you think this student got?
In the year 1800 there were lots of men, women and children and their dogs living in houses in the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Today in 2008 there are 60 million people living in the United Kingdom of Great Britain which is a lot more than in 1800. If there are more people living in Britain we need more food around.

Scenario 2• Question 7 on your chemistry exam paper is on calculations, you read part a and b and can’t even attempt to write anything. What do you do next?
Easiest mark on this question is the last one! Don’t give up at start of question
![Page 15: Science Modular exams](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062314/568131fb550346895d9856a8/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Scenario 2• Question 1 on your physics exam paper is about momentum• You can’t remember the formula for working out momentum, what do you do?
3. Key Formulas
![Page 16: Science Modular exams](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062314/568131fb550346895d9856a8/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
You will be given all the formulas you need to answer physics questions, you just need to look for them!
Key Formulas

Key definitions
You will need to learn key definitions though;
RAM
Mole
RFM
Mass number
Atomic number
Ion
Isotope
Isotope

4. Key words
By highlighting key words you can focus your attention on the
facts!
They often give you the answer in the question you
just have to find it!Eg Question i.
5. Using what they give you
![Page 19: Science Modular exams](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062314/568131fb550346895d9856a8/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
Try these 2 example questions…the answers are all
on the page!
1. Pig factory question on Biology F paper part b. and c.2. Haber process question on chemistry F paper part a. catalyst
![Page 20: Science Modular exams](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062314/568131fb550346895d9856a8/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
5. Answering the question
Read the question properly before answering, or this can happen….

• Higher temperature makes chemicals move faster
• Lower temperature makes chemicals move slower
• A higher concentration of chemicals can mean more particles to react so reaction is faster
• A catalyst can also speed up a reaction
5. Answering the question
Read the question properly before answering, or this can happen….

Now all you need to do is REVISE so you know the science!
Good luck!
