Competitions-ISEF

• The Intel®   International Science and Engineering Fair® (Intel ISEF), the world's largest international pre-college science competition, provides an annual forum for more than 1,500 high school students from 65 countries, regions, and territories to showcase their independent research as they compete for over $4 million annually. The Intel ISEF is the premier global science competition for students in grades 9–12.

Competitions-I-SWEEEP

• 440 highly qualified projects from 70 different countries were displayed at the George R. Brown Convention Center during May 4 and May 9, 2011. Nearly 1100 young scientists and project supervisors came to Houston for this remarkable event. Finalist students were selected to compete at I-SWEEEP by winning a top prize at regional, state or national level science fairs. Participants enjoyed the opportunity to meet with their friends from different parts of the world while seeing that they are not the only ones who committed to find solutions to globe’s problems.

• Cosmos Foundation, event organizer, presented Grand Awards at the I-SWEEEP 2011 Award Ceremony. The I-SWEEEP Awards are valued at nearly $350,000 in scholarships, monetary prizes, tuition grants, and scientific internships. Please, click here to see the results.

Student Testimonial• Kim,

first off.. CONGRATULATIONS! Maybe I will be able to make it out to seattle this summer and get to meet your baby girl! Also, I have some kind of exciting news, nothing that can compare to yours but its pretty awesome...so a few months ago I saw a research position opening in a genetics lab on campus and although it said dont apply if your a freshman and although these positions are crazy competitive, I applied anyway and I just explained that although im a freshman, im still qualified and awesome..and I GOT AN INTERVIEW! and then I went to the lab and everyone just seemed to really like me(one guy just really liked that we had the same taste in music haha) and then a couple weeks ago a girl from the lab emailed me and explained that she thought she could make me into a really valuable undergraduate researcher in a couple of years and that every lab will want me in two years and i'm going to have my own little research project that will be a smaller component of her big research that she says should be published in 2 years! so I officially snagged a coveted genetics research position at Berkeley, as a freshman! I'm still shocked. I start cloning plants tomorrow haha you can check out the lab if you google zilberman lab berkeley..soo I have to give you props for your excellent science research grooming skills, without which, I would have had no chance at all haha, so thankyou! and late merry xmas and happy new year! I miss you! Kara
