The object of our research: empathy as a psychological phenomenon

The subject of our research: interrelation of empathy and communicative tolerance among students of humanities and economic specialties

Hypothesis: there is the interrelation between empathy and communicative tolerance

Гіпотеза: існує певний зв’язок між емпатією та комунікативною толерантністю.

According to the purpose and hypothesis of the study, we have put the following tasks:

1. To justify some literature concerning the put problem theoretically;

2. To consider the phenomenon of empathy in modern psychology;

3. To analyze the main approaches concerning the study of tolerance;

4. To conduct an empirical research to reveal the level of empathic communication and tolerance among students of economic and humanities specialities.

We have chosen the following diagnostic techniques for our research:1. Methods of revealing the level of personality tolerance diagnosis (auth. V.S.Mahun);2. Empathy study Methods (auth. I.M.Yusupov); 3. Methods of communicative tolerance diagnosis (auth. V. Boyko);4. Test "How much are you tolerant?" (auth. O. I. Tushkanova).

Для дослідження було обрано наступні діагностичні методики:

1. Методика діагностики рівня толерантності особистості (авт. В.С.Магун);

2. Методика дослідження рівня емпатії (авт. І.М.Юсупов);3. Методика діагностики комунікативної толерантності В.

В. Бойко;4. Тест «Насколько Вы терпимы?» (авт. О. І. Тушканова).

Sample: To test the hypothesis 52 students of the 5th year (27 - economists, 25 – psychologists) were involved in the empirical research

Вибірка: для перевірки гіпотези у емпіричному дослідженні взяли участь 52 студентів 5 курсу. З них 27 студентів економістів, 25 – психологів.

After analyzing the obtained data of our empirical research, we can draw the following conclusions:

The group of future psychologists is characterized by the average level of empathy, but there are indexes of the very high level of empathy, unlike the group of economists. The level of the development of communicative tolerance in the group of psychologists is average as well, but we also obtained the indexes of the high level that are much higher than in the group of economists. Група студентів психологів характеризується середнім рівнем розвитку емпатії, але є показники і дуже високого рівня емпатії, чого не сказати про группу економістів. Показники за рівнем розвитку комунікативної толерантності в группі психологів переважає середній рівень, але є отриманні данні і за показниками високого рівня, які значно більше за показники группи економістів.

The group of future economists is characterized by the average level of communicative tolerance. Although there are indexes of the low level of tolerance unlike the group of psychologists where we did not obtain such data. The level of empathy development in the group is average.У групі студентів економістів переважає середній рівень розвитку комунікативної толерантності та терпимості. Хоча є показники і невиского рівня розвитку терпимості, чого не сказати про группу психологів, в якої таких даних не було отримано. По показникам рівня розвитку емпатії переважає середній рівень.

Therefore, our hypothesis is that there is the interrelation between empathy and communicative tolerance among future psychologists has not been confirmed. These data can be explained by the fact that there was the pretty small sample for reliable data, such indicators may be explained by the specificity of the group too. But there is the trend to the fact that the interrelation between empathy and communicative tolerance actually exists, that is the practical significance of the diploma paper. Отже, наша гіпотеза про те, що існує певний зв’язок між емпатією та комунікативною толерантністю у студентів психологів не знайшла своє підтвердження. Отримані дані можна пояснити тим, що можливо була маленька вибірка для отримання більш достовірних даних, можливо такі показники пояснюються специфічністю групи. Але тенденція до того, що існує взаємозв’язок між емпатією та комунікативною толерантністю є, що і являє собою практичну значущість дипломної роботи.
