COURSESYLABUSDescriptionThis is a hands-on course in which students write a full hypothesis-drivenresearch paper. Forwriting the paper, students use data that are provided tothemandwhichshouldbeconsideredasrealandgenuinedata.Emphasisareonbuilding each section of the research paper according to the IMRAD(Introduction, Material and Methods, Results and Discussion) format and onlearninghowtonavigatethroughthestepsinvolvedinproducingandpublishinga research paper. Even though the focus of the course is the production of aresearchpaper, manyof the lessons learned in this course canbeapplied to athesis.OrganizationThe group is divided in small groups of no more than 5 students each. Eachgroup produces an entire hypothesis-driven research paper throughout thecourse. The data used to produce the research paper is provided to students.Thesedataarenotrealbutareplausibleandshouldbeconsideredasgenuine.Thedataprovidedwillbeontopicsoftheirinterest/knowledge.TheresearchpapershouldbewritteninEnglish.ItshouldbenotedthatEnglishgrammarandusagearenotthefocusofthiscourse.Thecourseisdividedin9classes(1perweek,ideally)of3hourseach.TopicsThiscoursewillcoverthefollowingtopics:
