Tip:

Tip:

A carpentry holder will be very helpfulduring dome's mounting. It will help to adjustthe levels of the driving ring with particularparts of the dome. First connect each sectionof the dome with loose bolts, and then usinga carpentry holder - adjust the neighboring elementsof the dome. Finally - screw on the bolts firmly.

Do not forget to put the backing ringson both sides of all bolts connectingthe elements of the dome.

1. Put one of the side panel and front panel side by side.Screw on both panels nearby driving ring.

2. Add the second side of the dome to previouslyconnected elements. Screw on the second sideof the dome with its front panel nearby the driving ring

3. Insert the rear panel of the ring between two sidesand screw on rear module of the ring.

4. Adjust the joints of the driving ring with carpentryholder and finally screw on bolts of alljoints of the driving ring.

5. Screw on all the bolts of the dome's front.6. Put on the back panel on the sides,

matching the holes. If the holes do not matchperfectly, just slightly drill them up. If the dome'sback panel does not cover side panels, just slightlystretch the dome's sides inwards while holding theirtops. Screw on the dome's back.

Placing the domeonto base ring

1. Lift the dome and put it down onto therollers of the base ring.

2. Check if the dome turns round easily;turn it several times around the axis.

3. Screw on the blue side supports to the base ring.Check if the upper rollers of the supportsdo not press the driving ring too much. There should be approximately a 1 mm distancebetween roller and the ring. The distance betweensupports and the upper edge of the driving circleshould be about 20 mm.

A properly assembled domeshould turn round by a finger pressureapplied to the front panel of the dome.

Fitting-up the shutter

1. Screw on the decorative handles at the frontand rear of the shutter.

2. Fit four guiding trolleys on the aluminum guide bars.Mind that the trolleys for the front part of the shutterhas different shape than rear ones.

3. Put the shutter onto the dome. Mind correctorientation of the front and back part. Shutter's fronthas specific incision which matchesfront panel of the dome.

4. Align the holes in the shutter to the holesin the trolleys and screw them together.

5. Screw on the rear movement limiterswith the guide bars.

The movement limiters of the shutter'sshall be fitted-up in the way which allowsstopping the shutter in the position to coveran observational window by about 2 cm.There will be limit switches pressing platemounted at the front end of the shutter.

The shutter without engines tendsto fall down (it is not balanced well).Since you have automatics installed, the shutter is restrained by the drivingwire cables. It is especially dangerouswhen the shutter falls down during opening. The shutter shall be opened and closedin two steps - first grab the shutterat the front, open it just halfwayand check if it does not start to fall down. Then walk around to the dome's backand open the shutter to the end position, holding it by the rear handle.

Electronics and driving systems fittings

Tip:- Do not install shutter driving wire cablesuntil you test the shutter motor systemend switches action and the whole electronics.

- Encoder belt has to be sticked tothe circumference rim of the domeonly after you finish all other works.

- Before you install the drivers and electricalcomponents, it is recommended to wash the domeusing a garden hose. Without this operationremoving the remains and debris will requiremuch more effort.

1. Fit encoder's sensor on oneof the side supports (puds).

2. Fit contactron "home" on oneof the side supports (puds).

3. Fit end switches on the front and the topof the shutter window.

4. Fit the end switches pressing plateon the shutter in a way that limit switches activateat about 1.5 cm before full closing or full openingof the shutter.

5. Put contactron "home" magneton the dome's back at the distance fromcontactron "home" allowing contactron's switchesto be active as briefly during the dome'srotation, as possible.

6. Fit the cable box on the rotary part of the dome.7. Fit the ScopeDome Driver on the one

of the side supports (puds).8. Fit the dome's driving motor on the side support

(pud) nearby ScopeDome Driver. Before mountingthe drive, twist off a pressing roller from the pudon which dome's driving system will be installed.During installation of the driving system, the strongest pressure of the driving rolleron the driving ring shall be achieved. The easiest way to obtain this, is lifting upthe dome by about 2 cm and putting meanwhilespecial pads, aprox. 3 cm thick, under rollersof the base ring. Next you need to tighten the rollerof the motor system to driving ring as much as you can(e.g., using the lever), then screw on the bolts holdingthe engine and finally lower down the dome whileremoving the pads. Rubber drive rollers should flattenunder dome's weight by about 2mm.If the driving rollers still tend to slide on the ringand the dome cannot be rotated, you need to stickanti-slip tape at edge of the ring.

9. Mount shutter's motor at the front of the domeusing four bolts. Check if the dome's drivingsystem engine does not catch on shutter's motorwhile the dome is turning round.

10. Fit up dome's lighting.

Tip:

Tip:

Limit switches control wiringand illumination wiring can be leadthrough the holes previously drilledin the side reinforcements placedunder aluminum ledges of the shutter.

11. Connect all elements and wiring according tothe electrical diagram of the observatory.

12. Test driving motors and end switches.13. Mount and stretch wire cables

of the shutter driving system.14. Stick the encoder's belt to the circumference

rim of the driving ring using two-sideadhesive tape and reinforce this connectionwith some glue. The encoder's belt should leadtrough the slit of the optical sensor of the encoderplaced under the side support (pud).

15. Install control software and calibrate the dome.

The simplest way to calibrate “Home” sensoris setting the dome manually in south position(towards Sun, in the center of the shutter window).Next start to modify "home" sensor anglein the driver configuration panel untilthe azimuth indicated by the dome is 180.

: Do not forget to test shutter motor actionand limit switches before you fit wire cables.Wire cables assembly should beginat the open dome; with the closing rod(wire cable) first. Access to the wire cablesattachments in the motor reel is possible onlyafter removing the driving mechanism case.Wire cables strenght was selected in a waythat they would break withoutdamaging other parts of the dome.

1. Open the dome shutter manually.2. Remove the cover of shutter's driving mechanism.3. Cut closing wire cables (rods) to appropriate length,

leaving about 20 cm reserve.4. Attach first wire cable to the shutter's driving reel

and wind up two rolls on the reel. Mind the directionof rolled cables. It should match the diagramon figure 11.

5. Pull and drag closing cable accordingto fig. 11 diagram and attach its other endto the mounting hole (D)of the shutter trolley. Slightly stretch it, usingcombination pliers before screwing the bolt finally.

6. Repeat points 3 to 5 for the second closing rod.7. Close the shutter using remote pilot.

Note: The shutter tends to fall down under its ownweight while closing. Prevent that by supportingthe shutter with your hand.

1. Cut opening wire cables (rods) to appropriate length, leaving about 20 cm reserve.

2. Attach first wire cable to the shutter's driving reeland wind up two rolls on the reel. Mind the directionof rolled cables. It should matchthe diagram on figure 11.

3. Pull and drag opening cable accordingto fig. 11 diagram and attach its other endto the mounting hole (C)of the shutter trolley. Slightly stretch it usingcombination pliers before screwing the bolt finally.
