    Standard Curriculum for Primary Schools (SCPS):KSSRCURRICULUM new primary school which is known as the Standard Curriculum for Primary Schools(SCPS) was introduced in 2011 with fewer subjects but using a more interactive approach.

    The curriculum is incorporate some of the other subjects was also be introducing a new subject andpatriotic patriotic theme.

    SCPS was introduced and applied to students in one of expediency new pupils who occupy school orthe early stages of their education.

    Application from the beginning will help facilitate travel and the learning of pupils who will move onto the next years in line with changes in age.

    Director General of Education, Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom said the SCPS would not replace buthand in hand with the Integrated Curriculum for Primary Schools (KBSR).

    Through the SCPS, he said, teaching and learning modules that will replace the use of textbooks byteachers that are prepared and trained for the SCPS.

    It aims to increase the share of primary school pupils in particular in Malay and English.Approach toteaching and learning techniques (R & D) will be more attractive and interactive environment whereit involves the use of two languages and to increase its share of teachers to teach Mathematics andScience in line with government objectives.

    At this early stage, a total of 500 schools have been undergoing pilot testing from 31 March 2009until the end of June 2009. A total of 50 schools will undergo pilot testing all subjects while theremaining schools will undergo pilot testing in selected subjects.SCPS divide subjects into threemodules Basic Core Module, Basic Module and theme electives Basic Module.

    The level of primary school (years 1 to 3) is focusing on mastery 4M (reading, writing, counting andreasoning) as well as basic skills and information communication technology (ICT), the development

    of socio, spiritual, physical, cognitive, attitudes and values.

    While the two elementary schools (years 4 to 6) will focus on strengthening and 4M applications,basic ICT skills, the development of socio, spiritual, physical, attitudes and values.

    In addition, the ministry is also introduce the National Preschool Curriculum Standards (NPCS) forall children aged five and six years across the country.

    At this stage, the focus will be on the development of socio, spiritual, physical, cognitive, personality,preparatory to elementary school and early exposure 4M skills.NPCS will facilitate pre-schoolstudents to prepare them for school besides a more friendly and attractive with age appropriate forpreschool children.
