Definition of Scripting
Scripting is a strategy that prepares English Language learners with sample language interactions or situational dialogues appropriate for upcoming events.
ScriptingPreparing and practicing scripts in advance is necessary because:
1 .It lowers anxiety.
2. It builds confidence in the ability to communicate in English.
Step by StepThe steps in using scripting with students are :
1 .Identifying an opportunity for verbal interaction
The students should understand the situation of the script.
Step by Step 2 .Explaining and Modelling the
script
Explain the script to the students.
Model with one of the students .
Step by Step3 .Practicing in pairs
Pair the students and encourage them to practice the script.
Step by Step4 .Assessing students progress and
understanding.
Watch and listen as students practice in pairs, noting each student’s use of the script .
Help them to identify their strengths and ways to improve .
Conclusion Scripting provides English language
learners with language they will need in a variety of situations.
It reduces anxiety when students are placed in unfamiliar situations.
The script remains in their memories as back up words.
So students will be more: - confident
-relaxed and can begin to communicate more freely
