IERU Communications’ SDH NG multiplexers is a series of compact devices ranging from 1U to 10U
height, with cross-connect matrixes with up to 80G capacity.
Diverse protection mechanisms such as MSP, SNCP, DNI and 2F/4F MS-SPRing provide industry
standard fault detection and management in addition to EPS protection and redundant and hot
swappable matrixes and power supplies.
IERU Communications’ SDH NG Series of Multiplexers:
DM STM-1 – Modular MultiplexerThe DM STM-1 is a modular multiplexer for
next generation SDH networks. The base unit
is composed of a chassis, a central processing
unit and a power supply and supports up to two
aggregate interface modules and three tributary
interface modules. Its modularity economises
network upgrades and new services support.
DM 800 Series Comprised of the DM880, DM881, DM830,
DM820 and DM810 devices. All interface
modules are compatible with any chassis model,
making this series one of the most flexible
products available today, providing easy and
cost effective implementation of new services.
DM 880 is a next generation SDH multiplexer
supporting 2Mbit/s, 34/45Mbit, Ethernet, Gigabit
Ethernet and SDH up to STM-64 interfaces. The
DM 880 has a modular platform with multiservice
functionalities and may operate in topologies
with multiple rings and point-to-point links.
The DM 880 was developed for high capacity
access, transport and switching applications.
A variety of switch matrix modules are available
with capacities between 7.4G and 80G in
addition to DS0 (64kbit/s) switching capability.
Completely modular, the DM 880 includes 12 slots
for interface modules with electrical or optical
ports in addition to two slots for service modules
which allow the use of V.11, housekeeping, RS-
232 and a voice service channel.
To enable the transmission of optical signals over
long distances, the DM880 may be equipped
with optical amplifiers and chromatic dispersion
compensation modules.
The amplifiers may be used with signals
generated by the device itself or to amplify an
external optical signal. The STM-16
and STM-64 interface modules may be supplied
with an integrated optical amplifier, providing an
even more optimized solution.

DM881– SDH Multiservice Multiplexer for Applications up to STM-4
The DM 881 supports 2Mbit/s, 34/45Mbit/s,
Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet and SDH, up to
STM-4 interfaces. The DM 881 has a modular
platform with multiservice functionalities and
may operate in point-to-point or multiple ring
topologies.
The DM881 is designed to serve as a mission-
critical, high-capacity cross-connect platform
for Carrier Exchange Nodes, where services
from multiple carriers terminate at, or connect
to, other carriers. The DM881 is ideal for these
applications that require not only outstanding
reliability but advanced management, supervision
and monitoring tools for complete SLA control.
DM881 is highly suited for applications requiring
grooming of a large number of DS0 (64kbit/s)
channels, enabling aggregation and optimization
of E1 and SDH links. It may be equipped with up
to 384 E1 ports. The use of SDH interfaces is
optional and the device supports up to 20 STM-1
ports or up to 8 STM-4 ports.
The DM881 was developed for access, aggregation,
transport and switching applications. It has 12
slots for interface modules with electrical or optical
ports. Two additional slots for service modules allow
the use of V.11, housekeeping, RS-232 and voice
service channel.

The DM 830 is a next generation SDH

DM 820 is a next generation SDH multiplexer
supporting 2Mbit/s, 34/45Mbit/s, Ethernet and Gigabit
Ethernet and SDH and up to STM-4, interfaces. The
DM 820 is a modular and compact 2U high platform
with multi-service functionality. It is an excellent
expansion capable yet cost-efficient solution for
small-scale concentrated applications.
The DM 820 has two ports for STM-1/4 SFP modules
and 12 E1 ports. Two aditional modular slots enable
2Mbit/s port expansion or the addition of any DM
800 compatible interface modules. It has redundant
power supply capability and a hot swappable fan
module.

DM 810 is a compact new generation SDH
multiplexer with 2Mbit/s and STM-1 or STM-1/4
interfaces. Additional Fast Ethernet or Gigabit
Ethernet ports are optional. The DM 810 is a
compact 1U high platform with an excellent
cost-benefit ratio ideal for STM-1/4 access
applications.
DM 810 has a non-blocking switch matrix with
tributary to tributary, aggregate to aggregate
and aggregate to tributary mapping capabilities.
Designed to provide multi-service access for voice,
data, SCADA and Ethernet applications the DM
810 features bandwidth-saving traffic grooming
capabilities for transport interfaces. The DM 810

The DMSTM-1 SDH Next Generation Multiplexer
for STM-1 Applications is a versatile and robust
device compatible and fully interoperable with
any third party devices.
When equipped with three DMSTM-1 TR-24E1
interface modules, up to 63 2Mbit/s tributaries
may be multiplexed onto a single or redundant
STM-1 channel. Additional tributary interfaces
include STM-1, 34/45Mbit/s and Ethernet
modules.
Designed for STM-1 access applications, the
DMSTM-1 provides multi-service interfaces,
supporting Next Generation Ethernet over
SDH encapsulation fully compatible with IERU
and other 3rd party SDH/STM-1 devices. The
DMSTM-1 configuration is simple and modular
making costly fixed configurations redundant.
With SNMP-based NMS, the DMSTM-1 is easily
integrated into 3rd party management and
networks.
