Happy Holidays to all you members.

Membership is doing better but not good enough.By the end of this month those who have not paidtheir dues will be dropped. The Secretary's Office isgearing up for next year’s membership renewals. Some good news...there have been no increases infees owed to the State and / or Grand Lodge nextyear, so the membership dues will remain the sameas this year’s...finally, some nice news. Please enjoy

your holidays with friends and family, and moreover, please stay safe.

Attention All WW II Lodge Veterans, I am going through the files, manually, to identify who you are; this is an arduous and time consuming process, so I need your help, veterans. The Florida StateElks Association has contacted every lodge in the state of Florida in anattempt to identify and compile a list of every current Elk who was aWW II veteran. All I need is your name, current home mailing address, and email address, if you have one, on a piece of paper. You can dropoff your information to me in the office.

Sincerely and Fraternally Yours,Patricia HubertSecretary

HOUSE COMMITTEE REPORT

The month of December brings a number of activities to thelodge. We start with the monthly drawing on Sunday, December1st. We will be serving bacon cheese burgersfor $8.00 and the lodge hot dogs for $4.00, both served withfries from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Come early for seating. On Sunday, December 22nd, we will be hosting the LodgeAdult Christmas Party. See flyer for details. On Tuesday,December 31, is of course, the great New Year’s Eve Party;be sure to buy your tickets early. On Wednesday, January1st, we will be serving black-eyed peas and cornbread from5:00 to 6:30 PM before the drawing at 7:00 PM.

Thank you to everyone that attended the Thanksgiving dinner, and to all the volunteers that made it possible.

As you know, we have a new cash register system in place.Starting in December, when the bartender hands you yourreceipt, be sure to sign your name and member number onthe back and place it in the bar pitcher for the “free drink”daily drawing; you do not have to be present to win.

At the November meeting of the House Committee, a review of pricing for all menus, lunch, Wednesday nightdinners, Friday night dinners, and Bar Bingo, was completed. As a result of that meeting, you will see somesmall adjustments in pricing beginning on December 1st.This was necessary as we have not reviewed pricing inquite a while and everyone is aware food prices have increased a lot in the past year. We also reviewed barprices, and again, you will see small adjustments due toprice increases from the suppliers. We will continue to doeverything we can to keep prices as low as possible for ourmembers. Thank you to all who continue to come out tosupport our lodge.Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.Fraternally, Linda Alexon, House Committee Chairman

December has arrived and soon the holidays will beupon us. Please take time to remember the reasonfor the season, and our Elk's motto, "Elks Care andElks Share". Lend a helping hand to the less fortunate, the elderly and the children, whenever possible; and, remember our Armed Forces, homeand abroad, in your thoughts and prayers this holiday season.

Keep Don Haus Sr. and Sonny Armstrong, PDDGER,and the families of Ken Heidler and Richard Urbin, in your thoughts and prayers. May the happy memories, of those recently departed, bring comfortto the families during their time of sorrow.

Please contact me if you know someone who is sickthat would like to be included in the Bellows and onthe Sickness and Distress Board in the lodge.

Best Regards,Karen Gleason, [email protected]

MUSIC BY KEVINMVS & LODGE SCHOLARSHIPS • Only ~ 6 DAYS REMAINING!

Please tell your child or grandchild to visit the following websites to download the applications for the Elks Legacy Scholarshipand the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarships.

Elks Legacy Scholarship ~ $4000 ($1,000 a year for 4 years) ~ Deadline January 31, 2014 12:00pm (noon) Central Time.Application ~ online ONLY at http://www.elks.org/enf/scholars/legacy.cfm

The competition for these scholarships has begun for high school seniors only who are children and/or grandchildren of Elkmembers in good standing, and who joined our order prior to April 1, 2011. This Elks affiliation scholarship, however, is byno means a guarantee that your youngster will be a recipient of one of the 250 scholarships that will be awarded nationwide.Children and grandchildren will compete separately against other children and grandchildren in their respective states. Eachstate is eligible to receive a number of awards based upon its past support of the Elks National Foundation. Each state’squota is divided evenly among children and grandchildren. In states where the quota is an uneven number, the extra awardis allocated to children of Elks, rather than grandchildren. This year, the state of Florida has been allocated 12 Legacy recipients. Applications must be completed and submitted online.

Additionally, I encourage your children or grandchildren, as well as friends, relatives, and neighbors who also are high schoolseniors, to also compete for the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship.
