A. Removable Stops: Rolled steel channel shape, butted corners; prepared for countersink style tamper proof screws.

B. Bituminous Coating: Non-asbestos fibered asphalt emulsion.

C. Primer: ANSI A250.10 rust inhibitive type.

D. Silencers: Specified in Section 08 71 00.

E. Weatherstripping: Specified in Section 08 71 00.

2.3 FABRICATION

A. Fabricate frames as welded unit.

B. Mullions for Double Doors: Removable type, of same profiles as jambs.

C. Fabricate frames with hardware reinforcement plates welded in place. Provide mortar guard boxes.

D. Reinforce frames wider than 48 inches with roll formed steel channels fitted tightly into frame head, flush with top.

E. Prepare frames for silencers. Provide three single silencers for single doors and mullions of double doors on strike side. Provide two single silencers on frame head at double doors without mullions.

F. Configure exterior frames with special profile to receive recessed weatherstripping.

2.4 SHOP FINISHING

A. Steel Sheet: Galvanized to ASTM A653/A653M A40.

B. Primer: Baked.

C. Coat inside of frame profile with bituminous coating to minimum thickness of 1/16 inch.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements: Coordination and project conditions.

B. Verify opening sizes and tolerances are acceptable.

3.2 INSTALLATION

A. Install frames in accordance with ANSI A250.8.

B. Coordinate with gypsum board wall construction for anchor placement.

C. Coordinate installation of frames with installation of hardware specified in Section 08 71 00 and doors in Section 08 13 14.

D. Install roll formed steel reinforcement channels between two abutting frames. Anchor to structure and floor.

D. Smoke and Draft Control Doors: Tested in accordance with UL 1784 and installed in accordance with NFPA 105. 1. Air Leakage: Maximum 3.0 cfm/sf of door opening with 0.10 inch water gage pressure

differential.

A. Solid Core, Non-Rated: AWI Section 1300, Type FSLC - Framed Non-Glued (Drop In) Stave Lumber.

B. Plastic Laminate Facing (Interior): NEMA LD-3, General Purpose Type, 0.125 inch thick, finish, color and pattern, as indicated in finish schedule 09 00 00.

C. Cross Banding Behind Laminate Finish: manufacturer’s standard construction.

D. Facing Adhesive: Type II - water resistant.

2.3 FABRICATION

A. Fabricate doors in accordance with AWI AWS Section 9 requirements.

B. Furnish lock blocks at lock edge and top of door for closer for hardware reinforcement.

C. Vertical Exposed Edge of Stiles: Of same laminate matching door facing.

D. Fit door edge trim to edge of stiles after applying veneer facing.

E. Bond edge banding to cores.

F. Provide edge clearances in accordance with AWI AWS Section 9.

2.4 FINISHES

A. Finish work in accordance with AWI AWS Section 5; Custom Grade.

B. Plastic laminate finish is described in section 09 00 00.

C. Factory finish doors in accordance with approved sample.

3.2 INSTALLATION

A. Install doors in accordance with AWI AWS Section 9 and manufacturer's instructions.

B. Field Fitting and Trimming: 1. Trim non-rated door width by cutting equally on both jamb edges. 2. Trim door height by cutting bottom edges to maximum of 3/4 inch.

a. Trim fire door height at bottom edge only, in accordance with fire rating requirements. 3. Machine cut doors for hardware installation.

C. Coordinate installation of doors with installation of frames specified in Section 08 12 14 and hardware specified in Section 08 71 00.

3.3 TOLERANCES

A. Section 01 40 00 - Quality Requirements: Tolerances.

B. Maximum Diagonal Distortion (Warp): 1/8 inch measured with straight edge or taut string, corner to corner, over imaginary 36 x 84 inches surface area.

C. Maximum Vertical Distortion (Bow): 1/8 inch measured with straight edge or taut string, top to bottom, over imaginary 36 x 84 inches surface area.

D. Maximum Width Distortion (Cup): 1/8 inch measured with straight edge or taut string, edge to edge, over imaginary 36 x 84 inches surface area.

3.4 ADJUSTING

A. Section 01 70 00 - Execution and Closeout Requirements: Requirements for starting and adjusting.

B. Adjust door for smooth and balanced door movement.

C. Adjust door closer for full closure.

1.4 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

A. Impact resistant storefront framing system must meet the Texas Department of Insurance product evaluation for framing system.

B. Impact resistant storefront framing system must achieve notice of acceptance from Miami-Dade County.

C. System Design: Design and size components to withstand dead and live loads caused by positive and negative wind pressure acting normal to plane of wall, including building corners. 1. As calculated in accordance with applicable code, as measured in accordance

with ASTM E330. 2. Design wind loads of 150 mph, three second gust.

D. Deflection: Limit mullion deflection to 1/175 for spans under 13’-6” and 1/240 plus 1/4 inch for spans over 13’-6” of span; with full recovery of glazing materials.

E. System Assembly: Accommodate without damage to components or deterioration of seals, movement within system, movement between system and peripheral construction, dynamic loading and release of loads, deflection of structural support framing.

F. Air Infiltration: Limit air leakage through assembly to 0.06 cfm/min/sq ft of wall area, measured at reference differential pressure across assembly of 1.57 psf as measured in accordance with AAMA 501.

G. Vapor Seal: Limit vapor seal with interior atmospheric pressure of 1 inch sp, 72 degrees F, 40 Percent RH without seal failure.

I. Expansion / Contraction: Provide for expansion and contraction within system components caused by cycling temperature range of 170 degrees F over 12 hour period without causing detrimental effect to system components and anchorage.

J. System Internal Drainage: Drain water entering joints, condensation occurring in glazing channels, or migrating moisture occurring within system, to exterior by weep drainage network.

3.3 ERECTION TOLERANCES

A. Maximum Variation from Plumb: 0.06 inches every 3 ft non-cumulative or 1/16 inches per 10 ft, whichever is less.

B. Maximum Misalignment of Two Adjoining Members Abutting in Plane: 1/32 inch.

3.4 CLEANING

A. Remove protective material from pre-finished aluminum surfaces.

B. Wash down surfaces with solution of mild detergent in warm water, applied with soft, clean wiping cloths. Take care to remove dirt from corners. Wipe surfaces clean.

C. Remove excess sealant by method acceptable to sealant manufacturer.

DOOR FINISH HARDWARE PART 1 – GENERAL: 1.01 SUMMARY:

A. Section includes Finish Hardware

B. Work under this section comprises of furnishing and installing hardware specified herein and noted on drawings for a complete and operational system, including all required mechanical and electrified hardware components, systems and controls. All doors that are fire rated shall be provided with fire rated hardware to comply with the local code requirements. The general contractor and hardware supplier shall coordinate cylinder types with all door manufacturers prior to submittal of finish hardware. There will be no additional change orders issued due to the general contractor or hardware supplier’s failure to include any hardware item required by local code or required for functional and/or proper installation of hardware items due to failure to coordinate with other trades and/or related products.

C. The General Contractor and Hardware Supplier shall notify the Architect in writing of

any discrepancies five (5) days prior to bid date that could and/or would result in hardware being supplied that is none functional, hardware specified and/or hardware that has not been specified that will result in any code violations and any door that is not covered in this specification. Failure of the general contractor and hardware supplier to address any such issue shall be considered acceptance of the hardware specified and all discrepancies shall be corrected at the general contractor and hardware supplier’s expense and considered a part of their base bid. Change orders shall not be issued if deemed by the Architect to fall under and/or be covered as a part of the supplier’s base bid, due to failure to comply with this instruction notification.

E. Samples: Samples shall be provided as requested by owner or architect with Heading # and Door# marked on boxes. All samples shall be returned to the contractor and used on doors for which they were marked

F. Templates: Templates of finish hardware items to be supplied are to be furnished to

each fabricator of doors, frames and other work to be factory-prepared for the installation of hardware.

G. Keying Schedule: A keying schedule shall be submitted using keyset symbols

referenced in DHI manual “Keying Systems and Nomenclature." The keying schedule shall be indexed by door number, keyset, hardware heading number, cross keying instructions and special key stamping instructions.

H. Operations and maintenance data: At the completion of the job, furnish to the owner

two copies of an owner’s operation and maintenance manual. The manual shall consist of a labeled hardcover three ring binder with the following technical information: 1. Title page containing: Project name, address and phone numbers. Supplier’s

name, address and phone numbers. 2. Table of Contents. 3. Copy of final Finish Hardware Schedule and Keying Schedule 4. Maintenance instruction for each item of hardware. 5. Catalog pages for each product. 6. Installation Instructions and Parts List for all Locks, Exit Devices and Door

Closers. 1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCES

A. Substitutions: Request for substitutions shall not be accepted within this project. Architect, owner and Hardware Consultant have selected one (1) specified and two (2) equals listed hereinafter in the Hardware Schedule. By this selection process they have established three (3) equal products for competitive pricing, while insuring no unnecessary delays by a substitution process. If any specified product is listed as a “No Substitution” product, this product will be supplied as specified, with no alteration or request of substitution. The reason for this is to comply with the uniformity established at this project. Parts and supplies are inventoried for these particular products for ease and standardization of replacement.

B. Supplier Qualifications: Supplier shall be recognized architectural finish hardware

supplier, with warehousing facilities, who have been furnishing hardware in the project vicinity for a period of not less than 2 year and who is or employs a DHI Certified AHC or person with a minimum of 10 years of experience as a hardware supplier. This person shall be available at reasonable times during the course of the work for consultation about products hardware requirements, to the owner, architect and contractor.

C. Installation Review: A Distributor Representative (AHC) shall perform a jobsite walk-

through after completion of installation in order to review correct installation, adjustment, hardware applications and to verify that the correct hardware has been installed at the correct doors.

D. Installer Qualifications: Installer for mechanical hardware shall have a minimum of 2

years of experience of installing architectural finish hardware and attend a pre-installation meeting with the manufacturer’s representative of locks, exit devices and closers.

E. Wiring and termination of electrified door hardware by security contractor shall be

concurrent with the installation of these electrified components by the door hardware subcontractor.

F. Texas Department of Insurance Windstorm Requirements: This project falls under

the Texas Department of Insurance Windstorm Inspection Program for Inland II. All products, materials and installation systems shall be evaluated and approved by the Texas Department of Insurance, Windstorm Inspection Program, and listed in the TDI Product Evaluation Index or approved by the Windstorm Engineer as outlined below. Products, materials and installation systems not presently approved by the Texas Department of Insurance, Windstorm Inspection Program, may be considered for this project however, they must be properly submitted through the Architect for review by the Windstorm Engineer. This submittal shall be a part of the initial submittal process outlined in Section 01340 and the requirements for this portion are detailed within the Texas Department of Insurance, Windstorm Inspection website at the following location: www.tdi.state.tx.us/wind/submittal_requi.html. Products, materials and installation systems not approved by the Windstorm Engineer shall NOT be installed or utilized on this project.

1.05 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

A. Marking and packaging: Mark each item or package separately, with identification related to hardware set number, door number and keyset symbol.

B. Delivery:

1. Deliver individually packaged and properly marked finish hardware at the proper time and location to avoid any delays in construction or installation.

2. At time of delivery, inventory hardware jointly with representatives of hardware supplier and hardware installer until each is satisfied that count is correct.

C. Storage: Store hardware in enclosed, dry and locked area.

1.06 WARRANTY

A. All finish hardware products shall be covered by a 1 year factory warranty from the date of substantial completion of the project.

B. Supply warranty verification to the owner for products that provide factory warranties

for periods longer than one year. Mechanical Door Closers shall carry a 10-year warranty.

1.07 MAINTENANCE:

A. Maintenance Service 1. None

B. Extra Materials:

1. Furnish 3 dozen extra screws and other fasteners of each size, type and finish used with the hardware items provided. These screws and fasteners are to be delivered to the hardware installer for use during installation. All extra screws and fasteners and all special installation tools furnished with the hardware shall be turned over to the owner at the completion of the job.

3.05 PROTECTION:

A. The contractor shall use all means at his disposal to protect all finish hardware items

from abuse, corrosion and other damage until the owner accepts the project as complete.

1.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

A. Provide glass and glazing materials for continuity of building enclosure vapor retarder and air barrier: 1. To maintain continuous air barrier and vapor retarder throughout glazed assembly from glass

pane to heel bead of glazing sealant.

B. Glass Thickness: Select minimum thickness in accordance with ASTM E1300 to resist specified design loads. 1. Minimum Thickness: 1/4 inch for interior glass (or as indicated on drawings) 2. 1.6 QUALIFICATIONS

Installers: An experienced installer who has completed glazing similar in material, design, and extent to that indicated for the Project; whose work has resulted in glass installations with a record of successful in-service performance and who employs glass installers for this project with a minimum of three years experience.

2.4 MATERIALS

A. Sealed Insulating Glass: ASTM E 1300-04, The sealed insulating glass unit is comprised of a laminated glass unit and a 1 /4” heat strengthened glass lite separated by a desiccant-filled spacer system. The laminated glass unit is comprised of two 1 /4” heat strengthened glass lites with a 0.075” Vanceva/Stormglass interlayer.

2.5 GLAZING SEALANTS

A. Elastomeric Glazing Sealants: Materials compatible with adjacent materials including glass, and glazing channels.

Silicone Glazing Sealant: ASTM C920, Type S, Grade NS, Class and Use suitable for glazing application indicated; single component; solvent curing; capable of water immersion without loss of properties; non-bleeding, non-staining,]cured Shore A hardness of 15 to 25. a. Structural Silicone: Furnish high-modulus structural silicone glazing materials where

sealant bonds glass to substrate. 2. Polyurethane Glazing Sealant: ASTM C920, Type S, Grade NS, Class and Use suitable for

glazing application indicated; single component, chemical curing, non-staining, non-bleeding, Shore A Hardness Range 20 to 35.

B. Glazing Putty: Match existing. 1. Glazing Putty: Oil and resin base caulking compound, hardening type; knife grade

consistency; manufacturer’s standard white color.

C. Dense Gaskets: Resilient extruded shape to suit glazing channel retaining slot; color as selected. 1. Neoprene: ASTM C864. 2. EPDM: ASTM C864. 3. Silicone: ASTM C1115.

D. Soft Gaskets: ASTM C509; resilient extruded shape to suit glazing channel retaining slot; color as selected. 1. Neoprene. 2. EPDM. 3. Silicone.

2.6 GLAZING ACCESSORIES

A. Setting Blocks: Elastomeric material recommended by glass manufacturer, 80 to 90 Shore A durometer hardness, length of 0.1 inch for each square foot of glazing or minimum 4 inch x width of glazing rabbet space minus 1/16 inch x height to suit glazing method and pane weight and area.

B. Spacer Shims: Elastomeric material recommended by glass manufacturer, 50 to 60 Shore A durometer hardness, minimum 3 inch long x one half the height of glazing stop x thickness to suit application.

C. Glazing Clips: Manufacturer's standard type.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements: Coordination and project conditions.

B. Verify openings for glazing are correctly sized and within acceptable tolerance.

C. Verify surfaces of glazing channels or recesses are clean, free of obstructions impeding moisture movement, weeps are clear, and ready to receive glazing.

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Clean contact surfaces with solvent and wipe dry.

B. Seal porous glazing channels or recesses with substrate compatible primer or sealer.

C. Prime surfaces scheduled to receive sealant.

3.3 INSTALLATION

A. Perform installation in accordance with GANA Glazing Manual and Texas Department of Insurance glazing method for approved storefront system. 1. Glazing Sealants: Comply with ASTM C1193.

B. Exterior Wet/Dry Method (Preformed Tape and Sealant) Installation: 1. Cut glazing tape to length and set against permanent stops, 3/16 inch below sight line. Seal

corners by butting tape and dabbing with compatible butyl sealant. 2. Apply heel bead of butyl sealant along intersection of permanent stop with frame ensuring

full perimeter seal between glass and frame to complete continuity of air and vapor seal. 3. Place setting blocks at 1/4 points with edge block no more than 6 inches from corners. 4. Rest glazing on setting blocks and push against tape and heel bead of sealant with sufficient

pressure to attain full contact at perimeter of pane or glass unit. 5. Install removable stops, with spacer strips inserted between glazing and applied stops, 1/4

inch below sight line. [Place glazing tape on glazing pane or unit with tape flush with sight line.

6. Fill gap between glazing and stop with elastomeric glazing sealant to depth equal to bite of frame on glazing, but not more than 3/8 inch below sight line.

7. Apply cap bead of elastomeric glazing sealant along void between stop and glazing, to uniform line, flush with sight line. Tool or wipe sealant surface smooth.

C. Interior Wet/Dry Method (Tape and Sealant) Installation: 1. Cut glazing tape to length and install against permanent stops, projecting 1/16 inch above

sight line. 2. Place setting blocks at 1/4 points with edge block no more than 6 inches from corners. 3. Rest glazing on setting blocks and push against tape to ensure full contact at perimeter of

pane or unit. 4. Install removable stops, spacer shims inserted between glazing and applied stops at 24 inch

intervals, 1/4 inch below sight line. 5. Fill gaps between pane and applied stop with elastomeric glazing sealant to depth equal to

bite on glazing, to uniform and level line. 6. Trim protruding tape edge.

3.4 CLEANING

A. Section 01 70 00 - Execution and Closeout Requirements: Final cleaning.

B. Remove glazing materials from finish surfaces.

C. Remove labels after Work is complete.

B. After installation, mark pane with an 'X' by using removable plastic tape or paste.
