TOBACCO: JOHN ROLFE major $ crop/labor-intensive. Cultivated by Indentured servants 4 to 7 years of servitude in exchange for passage to New World. Later used slaves

POWHATAN: initially helped colonists but later began raiding/attacking colonists due to cultural conflicts(settlers wouldn’t have survived the first winter without the help of the Native Americans)
