About usThe Section of Studies in Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators (SSLMIT) is part of the Department of Legal, Language, Translation and Interpreting Studies (IUSLIT), but it was established as a specialised school for translators and interpreters in the 1950s. The teaching and research activities of SSLMIT include translation and interpreting, language and linguistics, literary and critical studies. Teaching has a practical orientation and it is attentive to the needs of the market.SSLMIT offers a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Interlinguistic Communication (Comunicazione Interlinguistica Applicata), a Bachelor's Degree in Interlinguistic Communication Applied to Legal Professions (Comunicazione Interlinguistica Applicata alle Professioni Giuridiche), and a Master’s Degree in Specialised Translation and Conference Interpreting (Traduzione Specialistica e Interpretazione di Conferenza) where students can choose between a curriculum in specialised translation (which includes literary translation and liaison interpreting), or a curriculum in conference interpreting (which includes simultaneous and consecutive interpreting).
