Lesson 1- Put Jesus FirstGoals of Meeting

1. Kids understand the Great Command and their purpose in life. 2. Kids feel excited to be part of a team at their school committed to putting Christ

first.

Fellowship

Mixer/game - Human Knot. Have the group form a Human Knot by standing in a close circle and, on the count of three, grab the hands of someone across from them. The group is now intertwined. They must begin unwrapping themselves without letting go of their hands. Point: Helps kids see their connectedness in Christ and the fruits of working together.

Worship (optional)  Family Time - This is the "community building" portion of Campaigners where

your group checks in as the body of Christ in their given school or community. You will want to be sensitive to any seekers in the group and not put them on the spot; however, there is value in them observing what their peers experience as followers of Christ. During Family Time, kids share what the Lord is teaching them in the Word, their prayer life and through their outreach to their peers. Leaders may also have kids get in groups of two or three to share a prayer request and pray for one another so that every kid in the room feels heard and prayed for as you begin to meet.

o For Week 1, have kids pair off, share a high and low from the week and pray for each other. Then ask the group:

Who can name a time this year when a Campaigner has offered support or encouragement during the school day?

What are other ways we can support each other throughout the week?

Are you glad you're a part of this family who loves Christ? Share applications from last week or previous weeks.

Teaching (select inductive questions appropriate for your group)

Ask a few kids what they think their purpose in life is.

Where did you get that impression … what was your source?

Look at the Great Command in Matthew 22:34-40 (either in small groups or large).

What insight does Jesus give as to our purpose in life? (We were made to love God and love others.)

How do you feel about this purpose? Does it feel "right" when we follow this command?

Based on this, what should our priorities be?

Look at Matthew 6:33.

List the benefits you can think of when we put Christ's agenda first in our lives.

Vision

This is the portion of the meeting where we try and accomplish one or both of the following:

Give kids a vision for living out what was talked about in the teaching time;  Give them a vision for how their lives in Christ can/should/will affect those with

whom they interact.

Specifically, they should be given ownership, with their leaders, in reaching their school for Christ.

What are some practical ways we can start to put Jesus first in all areas of our lives: school, family, friendships, sports, etc.?

Do you think others will take notice if we do this? What might their reaction be?  Will it be easier if a few of us try to do this on our own or if we commit to living for

Christ as an entire body of believers?  (optional) Hand out small candles or flashlights. Turn out lights. Light one. How

much light is being given off? Can you read what is on the board yet? No. OK, ask that kid to light the units on either side of him. How about now? Then light all. POINT: We are a force to be reckoned with as we live for Christ together!

Pray for our lives to honor Christ and impact our school and families.

(You may consider having food out afterward each week. This encourages kids to stick around and gives leaders some extra time to build relationships and process the lesson.)

Lesson 2 – Love One AnotherGoals of Meeting

1. Kids understand that by loving others they demonstrate they are truly followers of Christ.

2. They see the importance of loving each other in the family of God as a priority.

Fellowship

Mixer/game - Train Wreck, where everyone sits in a circle in a designated spot (chair or colored paper on the floor). There is one less seat than there are players. The person who is "it" stands in the center and says, "Switch if..." followed by something unique and true about themselves (e.g., "Switch if you're an only child."). Then, all those to whom that statement applies must change places, including the person who was in the center. Inevitably, one person will find him or herself without a seat. They are now "it." This helps kids get to know unique things about one another and feel more comfortable as a group.

Worship (optional) - Give kids an opportunity to praise God by saying one word that describes Him.

Family Timeo Ask everyone to say a silent prayer for the person on their right or left (one

minute). This allows everyone to feel prayed for prior to the meeting getting going.

o Ask about any other virtues you are encouraging, like quiet times, Scripture memory and so on. If appropriate, applaud for kids who took any steps in their journey with Christ. This act establishes "growing in Christ" as a virtue in the group.

Share applications from last or previous weekso Did anyone take a step to put Jesus first in a new area of your life? How

did it feel? Did you see any results? o Did anyone feel treated the way Jesus would want you to be treated by

someone in the group this week? As we love one another, the world will know we are Christ's disciples.

Teaching (select inductive questions appropriate for your group)

Review the Great Command in Matthew 22:34-40 from last week. As we live this out, we experience our purpose in life. Now, look at a new command Jesus gave his disciples.

Read John 13.34-35.

What is  new about loving one another? After all, this has been around since the Old Testament (Jesus adds something new to the definition by  how He has loved them).

How did Jesus love the disciples? How has He loved you?

How can we show one another this sort of love? (brainstorm many practical ways)

Read Galatians 6:10.

Who does this passage say we are to love or do good things for? Is there any priority given?

What does that mean to us?

Vision

What is one thing you can do this week that you wouldn't do if you didn't love Jesus? Write it down.

Who will be impacted by this action? List the benefits.  What kinds of people did Jesus love? What are some practical ways we can love

those kinds of people at school as Christ would want us to?  How can we make our friends who come to club feel loved in the manner Jesus

describes? (brainstorm how to create a loving atmosphere at club)  Pray for the freedom to uninhibitedly love people and, in so doing, honor Christ.

Lesson 3 – Listen to Jesus

Goals of Meeting

1. Learn the value of listening to Jesus and some helpful techniques for doing so. 2. Develop the habit of spending regular quiet time with the Lord.

Fellowship

Mixer/game - Play the telephone game wherein the leader verbally gives a message to one student and it is passed on one kid at a time to the entire group. The message may only be stated once and no clarification is allowed. The last person shares the message he or she heard and compares it with the original. Process how it changed. Point: Becoming a good listener is a developed skill.

Worship (optional)  Family Time

o Each Campaigner should feel listened to as you begin. Get in groups of three and share one thing weighing heavily on your mind right now. Then, pray for the person on your right.

Share applications from last or previous weekso Who made an attempt to love someone intentionally this week? How did it

go?

Teaching (select inductive questions appropriate for your group)

Read Matthew 17:1-9 as a group.

Looking at what took place on the mountain that day, why do you suppose Jesus took these three disciples with Him? (So these future leaders of His church could hear this important message from the Father directly.)

Since this is the only time in the Bible where God speaks directly to the disciples, He probably thought about what one thing He would like to share with them. There are so many important things He could have said; what would some good ideas have been if you were coaching God?

God chose the simple phrase "listen to my Son." Why?  Why is it important that we listen to the Lord regularly?

o Jesus longs for a personal relationship with us. How close would you be to your best friend if you only spoke once or twice a month?

o Jesus calls us to be salt and light in the world. We need to be people who point others in the right direction and preserve God's ways in our culture. If we don't take time to check in with Him regularly we are likely to blend in rather than lead.

Richard Foster, an author with many great insights, claims that the three greatest snares of the devil today are hurry, noise and crowds. It can be difficult to listen to the

Lord today with all the other things competing for our attention, but it is both possible and important.

Close by looking at Mark 1:35-38.

How did Jesus listen to God? What can we learn by His example?  How did His listening to God, or quiet time, that day impact His decision-making?

(It took heavenly insight to resist the temptation to go be with the crowd that was seeking Him and go to other towns instead.)

Vision

What are some steps you can take to listen to the Lord? What action will you take this week? You might have them write their plan, here and each week, on an  application card.

Process how club is going. What thoughts do you all have for improving our outreach together?

Pray for success in trying to hear from the Lord and for Christ through us to be drawing our friends to Him.

Lesson 4 – Put God’s Word into Practice

Goals of Meeting

1. Students begin a life-long process of being transformed by God’s Word as they put it into practice.

2. Their faith is strengthened as they see the Lord at work in and through them in tangible ways.

Fellowship

Mixer/game (optional) - Play Simon Says. Talk about what makes someone successful at this game:

o Listen well to what the leader says. o Keep your eyes focused on the leader. o Do what the leader says without hesitation. o Note the similarities in what it takes to successfully follow Christ.

Worship (optional)  Family Time

o Have kids check in on anything they learned in their quiet times this week. What time of day are you finding it is most productive to listen to Jesus? Do you have a certain place where you like to meet with Him?

o Each Campaigner should feel listened to as you begin. Get in groups of three and share one thing weighing heavily on your mind right now. Then, pray for the person on your right.

Share applications from last or previous weekso Ask them if anyone had any success listening to the Lord this week. Share

your experiences. Where did you see or hear God? o Who are some people in the school who rarely feel listened to? How could

we make them feel loved?

Teaching (select inductive questions appropriate for your group)

Teach the AEIOU Bible study method. Have them do this in groups of two for Luke 6:46, then share their answers with the rest of the group.

A = Ask questions (who, what, how, when, why?).  E = Emphasize different words or phrases to see how they impact the meaning of

the passage.  I = Illustrate; what illustrations or pictures help bring this verse to life and show

you how to live it out?  O = Other verses. What other verses support this passage?  U = Use it! Write down how you plan to put this passage into practice this week.

Read together Luke 6:47-49 and have the kids fill in the following chart: (use poster board or easel)

Wise Man Foolish Man

On what foundation was the house built?

Rock Sand

To what forces was this house exposed?

Rain and wind Rain and wind

What was the result? Stood strong Collapsed

Did this person hear God’s word? Yes Yes

What was the difference? Put God’s Word into practice

Simply heard the Word

Parallel passages (if time allows):

Romans 2:13  1 John 2:4  James 1:22-25

Memory verse for the week (optional): "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says" (James 1:22).

Vision

How can we practically put God's Word into practice? It seems like this is pretty important, doesn't it? We had better figure this out together.

If you keep a journal, you can do this there. But for others, I suggest you get some 3x5 cards and at the end of each quiet time, write down an application — one thing you feel inspired to do as a result of what you read.

Pray

Lesson 5 – Practice What We Believe About Prayer

Goals of Meeting

1. Help kids understand the power of prayer. 2. Give kids vision and tools to implement a personal prayer strategy. 3. Enable the Campaigner group to choose a prayer project and carry it out.

Fellowship

Mixer/game (optional) - Hide a snack somewhere in the house and tell one person where it is. Explain that one person knows where a surprise is, and if they ask the right person the right question, they will get it. Each person gets to ask one other person in the room one question to try to discover what and where the surprise is. Keep going until you discover the answer. Only if they ask the right person the right question do they get the surprise. The point is that we only get responses from prayer if we ask the right person (God) the right questions. If you want to take it further, you could have a second person with a bad surprise, like canned cat food. The point here is that you can ask anyone, but they might not give you what's best for you.

Worship (optional) - Offer a time for kids to share one-phrase thanksgivings for what God has done for them.

Family timeo Break up into groups of three and share the best and worst parts of your

day. Share a prayer request and pray for the person on your left out loud. Try to place a leader or stronger Campaigner with the younger Campaigners or seekers.

Share applications from last or previous weekso Last week we talked about putting God's Word into practice. What did you

specifically  do this week as a result of something you read in the Bible or sensed the Lord saying to you in prayer?

Teaching (select inductive questions appropriate for your group)

What does the Bible tell us about prayer? You can either go over all of the verses together or break up into smaller groups and then share what each group discovers.

Jeremiah 33:3 – God wants us to "call to Him" so He can tell us things we do not know. That sounds like a pretty good deal for us.

John 15:7-8 – One of the main reasons that God wants us to pray to Him is that when God answers our prayers, it brings glory to Him. And, it helps us to bear fruit — fruit in our own lives in terms of spiritual growth (Galatians 5:22-23) and fruit in the lives of others as they come to Christ perhaps for the first time. That's why praying for friends to come to club or camp may be prayers that change eternity!

John 16:24 – Jesus tells us when we ask for things in His Name, our joy is made complete. Why miss out?

Philippians 4:6-7 – These verses tell us that there are different kinds of prayer. Prayer is talking and listening to God. Petition is asking God for things. Thanksgiving is thanking God for who He is and what He's done.

Discuss ways God answers prayers, including:

No, I love you too much.  No, not yet.  Yes, and I thought you'd never ask.  Yes, and here's more.

Memory verse for the week (optional): "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

Vision

Choose one or more of the following to try:

Make a list of five to 10 people and write a prayer request for each of them. Record in a journal how God answers your prayers.

Draw names from a hat (guys with guys, girls with girls) and pair up with a Campaigner prayer partner. Contact each other daily to connect and pray for one another.

End by praying through the A.C.T.S. method (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication).

(optional prayer project) Sign your Campaigner kids up to pray for each other and their impact at the top of each hour. So from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m., at least one kid will pray a brief prayer for the group (two to three minutes) and cover them for the hour. Get reports back on what the group saw happen as a result.

Lesson 6 – Develop Vision for Reaching OthersGoals of Meeting

1. Campaigners know that a significant part of our lives as believers is telling others about Jesus Christ.

2. Kids see their potential to make an incredible impact in their school and community with the Gospel.

Fellowship

Mixer/game (optional) - Play News Reporter. Everyone grabs a partner, preferably someone he or she doesn't know very well. One person is given 60 seconds to ask as many questions as he or she possibly can of his or her partner. Then, the leader yells "switch," and the other person asks the questions. Once both have gone, pull the group back together and have each person introduce his or her partner based on the newly derived information. Point: To help everyone in the group get to know one another more deeply.

Worship (optional) - To get in touch with God's heart for the lost, have a time where as many kids at once can mention the first names of their friends they hope to see meet Jesus as they offer them to the Lord.

Family time o Ask the group if any of them have ever been asked what they believe by

their friends. Have those who are comfortable share what this was like. What might you need to feel better equipped to answer your friends?

Share applications from last or previous weekso Have you tried any of the prayer techniques we talked about last time?

How have they been working? o Have you seen the Lord answer any of your prayers? If so, how?

Teaching (select inductive questions appropriate for your group)

Read Acts 1:8 as a group. Then ask:

What does it mean to be a "witness?" Why do you think Jesus chose this word when He sent the disciples out?

Read Acts 8.26-39 together or in smaller groups. Ask:

What led Philip to do what he did? (The Spirit prompted him, but he was also open and expectant to be used by God to evangelize to others.)

Think more about the Ethiopian. What made him unique? (He was in position to influence others; he was searching for meaning in life; etc.)

How did Philip share about Christ?

Memory verse for the week (optional): "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

Vision

What impact do you think Philip's faithfulness had? Share a bit about the Ethiopian church (that it continues to this day, in part because of Philip's faithfulness generations ago). How do you think this experience affected Philip?

Talk about our mission fields (school, community, etc.). Brainstorm ways we can be intentional individually and as a group about reaching others and changing our school.

Write down the names of the friends whom you shared during worship (above) and with whom you'd like to share Christ (in word or deed). Dream about the ripple effect this could have. If appropriate, you may use this to segue into making a list of people you are pursuing for camp or club as a group.

Pray that the Campaigners would be strengthened and empowered to bear fruit.

Lesson 7 – What does Jesus Say About Purity?Goals of Meeting

1. Kids understand the concept of purity from Christ's perspective. 2. Kids feel motivated to live purely in all areas of their lives.

Materials Needed

Roll of clear packaging tape  3x5 index cards  Pens/pencils

Fellowship

Mixer/game (optional) - Back to Back. Start by having all kids pair up. Have each pair sit back-to-back on the floor and lock elbows with each other. At your direction, tell the kids to stand up together. Next, do it with groups of four people, eight people, 16, etc., eventually trying to do it with the entire Campaigners group. After you finish the activity, explain that the topic of today's lesson is going to require everyone in the group to help each other, just as they did in the mixer.

Worship (optional) - Consider using the song  Create in Me a Clean Heart as a connection to today's lesson.

Family time o In groups of three to four, have kids share the answer to this question: "If

you could change or 'clean' one thing about the week you just had, what would it be?"

o When all kids have shared, have them pray for each other in these small groups, being sensitive to any first-time visitors who may be there that week.

Share applications from last or previous weekso Last time we talked about having a vision for sharing Christ with others.

You may have even written down the names of a few people you'd like to share with. Any success there or have you seen any opportunities open up?

Teaching (select inductive questions appropriate for your group)

Give each kid a piece of CLEAR packaging tape, about three inches long. Tell kids to try to keep the tape from touching anything.

Have them notice how clear the tape is. Then have kids take their tape and stick it to the floor or carpet or even to each other's clothes, then peel it off.

Ask why the tape is no longer clear? (Because it came into contact with dirt and dust.)

If you wanted to make it clear again, what would you have to do? (Individually remove each piece of dirt, wash the tape in water, etc.)

If you wanted to keep the tape from getting dirty in the first place, what would you have to do? (Never use it, keep it rolled up.)

Why would this be a problem? (Tape serves no purpose if it is rolled up. To be useful, it must be removed from the roll.)

Have kids read Matthew 5:27-30.

Why does Jesus place so much emphasis on keeping our eyes and our thoughts pure? Why is lust a problem? (Thinking impure thoughts can hinder our relationship with Jesus and our relationships with other people. Jesus isn't concerned only with things on the outside, but also things on the inside.)

One definition of pure is to "not be mixed with any other substance." What does it mean to be "pure" as a follower of Christ? What are some "substances" with which we probably should not mix? (Brainstorm ways they can minimize the influence of the world on their lives. They might get into what it means to be pure sexually, especially in dating relationships. Explain that kids may need to follow Jesus' advice of "cutting off" bad influences that lead to spiritual impurity. For example, if kids struggle with lust, they may need to take steps to guard what they see.)

Read John 17:15-18.

What does it mean to be "in the world, but not of the world?" (We are called to go into the world to influence it for Christ. Our friends need to know us so they can see what is different and be drawn to Christ through us. But, we must not let the worldly influences contaminate or become part of who we are.)

How can we support each other in this struggle? (Assure kids of God's forgiveness in these areas in which they may have suffered defeat so they can move past them.)

Memory verse for the week (optional): "My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one" (John 17:15).

Vision

Distribute an index card to each kid and have him or her write an area of impurity in which he or she is currently struggling. Have kids pray silently over these areas of impurity, asking God to deliver them.

At this point, leaders can do one of a couple things: o Have them lay the cards at a simulated altar and offer these areas up to

God, asking for His forgiveness. o Kids can submit their cards to you anonymously so you can pray for them.

(optional) Give the kids an additional piece of packaging tape to attach to their Bibles as a reminder that they should interact with the world but remain pure by being attached to God and His Word.

Lesson 8 – What does Jesus Say About Honesty?Goals of Meeting

1. Kids understand the importance God places on honesty. 2. Kids feel motivated to be transparent and to deal honestly with all.

Fellowship

Mixer/game (optional) - Two Truths and a Lie. (If you have more than a dozen kids, divide the group to speed things along.) Give each person a penny for every person in the group. Put cups labeled with a one, two or three on them in the center of the floor. Then, have each person prepare to share two things about him or herself that are true and one thing that is a lie. One by one each kid shares his or her three statements with the group. After each person shares, the group votes which answer they think was the lie by putting their penny in the cup associated with the untrue statement. If they are wrong, the person sharing gets to keep the penny. If they are right, they get to take their penny back. See who has the most pennies at the end of the game.

o Discuss: Is it difficult or easy to tell small lies these days? Why? Worship (optional) - Use as a focus the idea of bringing our real selves before

God.  Family time

o Have kids get in groups of four. Ask them to share a high and low from the last week and one significant prayer request.

Share applications from last or previous weekso Did anyone take any steps this week to follow what Jesus had to say

about living pure? If so, you don't need to tell us what it was, but how has it felt? How have fellow Campaigners been helpful in your quest to be more like Christ in your personal lives?

Teaching (select inductive questions appropriate for your group)

What does Jesus say about honesty? First, let's look at an Old Testament passage, Leviticus 19:11.

How does this passage define lying? Do you consider telling "half truths" lying?

Read Matthew 5:33-37. What do you hear Jesus saying?

Talk about how if you are going to be honest, you need to move toward honesty on three levels:

1. Honesty with self. o How do you see your friends struggling with being honest with

themselves? How might an honest admittance of self change them?2. Honesty before God.

o What can stop us from being honest with God? Look at Jesus' honesty with God in the garden or on the cross (Matthew 26:39-42 and 27:46). It gives us an example and the freedom to be honest with God.

3. Honesty with each other. o What are ways that we can be dishonest with each other? (Lying, avoiding

the truth, projecting a false image) o What stops us from being honest with each other? o What benefits do you see in friends being honest with each other?

(Ephesians 4:25 – speak truth with each other). There is real freedom in not having to maintain a false image.

Memory verse for the week (optional): "So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man" (Acts 24:16).

Vision

Read Hebrews 10:24-25. How can we "spur one another on" in this area of honesty?

How could a group like this, committed to living honestly before Christ and one another, radically impact our school?  Pray for this vision.

Lesson 9 – What does Jesus Say about Forgiveness? Goals of Meeting

1. Feel the joy of releasing "old baggage." 2. Learn how to give ourselves, and others, what the Lord has given us ...

forgiveness.

Fellowship

Mixer/game (optional) - Have a leader and kid put on a raincoat or garbage bag and stand in the middle of the room. Invite kids to toss wet sponges or whipped cream pies at them. After each one, those who were hit say, "Thanks, I forgive you!" It's fun for everyone and also a good discussion starter.

Worship (optional) - Have a time of forgiveness, silently or out loud. Pronounce them forgiven (1John 1:9). Process how this felt.

Family time o Process the game. o Ask a few to share a time where they experienced forgiveness from

someone else. How did it feel? Why do you think it felt so good? Share applications from last or previous weeks

o Has anyone been able to be more honest with God in the last week? How has this changed your time with Him?

o Did anyone feel challenged by someone here to deal more honestly in a certain relationship? Share.

Teaching (select inductive questions appropriate for your group)

With the whole group, read Matthew 7:1-5. Then, hold a board so it looks like it is coming out of one of your eyes and tell one of the kids he or she needs to take the speck of sawdust out of his or her eye. How ridiculous, right? Point: There isn't a person alive who Christ didn't love enough to die for. Who are we to criticize them, hate them or think we are better?

Ask: Do you remember the Great Commandment from week 1 (Matthew 22:37-40)? How is forgiveness essential to fulfilling our call to "Love God and love others?"

Break into groups of three or four and do the following:

Read Jeremiah 31:34, focusing mainly on the last sentence. What is the difference between forgiving an offense and forgetting it ever happened?

When we pray, "Lord, I did it again," what does He say in reply? ("Did what?")

You may choose to read an excerpt from Corrie ten Boom as an illustration:

It was in a church in Munich where I was speaking in 1947 that I saw him — a balding heavyset man in a gray overcoat, a brown felt hat clutched between his hands. One

moment I saw the overcoat and the brown hat, the next, a blue uniform and a visored cap with its skull and crossbones.

Memories of the concentration camp came back with a rush: the huge room with its harsh overhead lights, the pathetic pile of dresses and shoes in the center of the floor, the shame of walking naked past this man. I could see my sister's frail form ahead of me, ribs sharp beneath the parchment of skin, just before she died.

Betsie and I had been arrested for concealing Jews in our home during the Nazi occupation of Holland. This man had been a guard at Ravensbruck concentration camp where we were sent. Now he was in front of me, hand thrust out: "A fine message, fraulein! How good it is to know that, as you say, all our sins are at the bottom of the sea!"

"You mentioned Ravensbruck in your talk," he was saying. "I was a guard there. But since that time," he went on, "I have become a Christian. I know that God has forgiven me for the cruel things I did there, but I would like to hear it from your lips as well. Fraulein ..." again the hand came out "... will you forgive me?"

It could not have been many seconds that he stood there, hand held out, but to me it seemed hours as I wrestled with the most difficult thing I had ever had to do.

For I had to do it ... I knew that. The message that God forgives has a prior condition: that we forgive those who have injured us. "If you do not forgive men their trespasses," Jesus says, "neither will your Father in Heaven forgive your trespasses." And so woodenly, mechanically, I thrust my hand into the one stretched out to me. And as I did, an incredible thing took place. The current started in my shoulder, raced down my arm, sprang into our joined hands. And then this healing warmth seemed to flood my whole being, bringing tears to my eyes.

"I forgive you, brother!" I cried. "With all my heart!"

(excerpted from  Guideposts, 1972) Memory verse for the week (optional): "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more" (Jeremiah 31:34b).

Vision

Close by discussing Matthew 5:21-24.  On a piece of paper or an  application card process the following:

o Is there anyone for whom you are currently holding a grudge that would feel great to forgive and let it go? Anyone you dread running into?

o How might you demonstrate that the slate has been wiped clean? What are some practical ways you can show God and them that you are serious about forgiveness?

Lesson 10 – Serve OthersGoals of Meeting

1. Kids gain vision for how service blesses their lives and the lives of others. 2. Kids leave excited about some practical steps for serving their peers.

Fellowship

Mixer/game - Using paint stir sticks (usually free at paint stores) and rubber bands, have each kid splint one elbow. Then, tell them they must use only that arm to eat a treat you have on the table. Everyone must eat at least two. Figure out how you'll succeed. Go! (The only way to do it is to feed, or  serve, your neighbor).

Worship (optional)  Family time

o Ask how it felt to have someone serve you. o In what ways were you served by someone today outside of this meeting? o Read John 13:34-35 and remind the group that the way they love each

other is a visible demonstration of the reality of Christ's presence with us. Then ask:

What are some helpful ways we could serve our fellow Campaigners? (Make sure everyone knows where Campaigners is and has a ride, etc.)

Share applications from last or previous weekso How did you do with your applications on forgiveness? Did anyone see

fruit from your efforts? What will you do in the future to continue with this theme?

Teaching (select inductive questions appropriate for your group)

Altogether, read Mark 2:1-11. Then, either as a large group or in small groups ask:

How do you think you would have felt being the paralytic lowered through the roof?

In what ways do you see people in this story being served or serving?  How did you see Jesus serving (by His actions, attitude and words ... be

specific)?  Which do you think was more important to the paralytic: that he was healed or

that he was forgiven? Why?

Memory verse for the week (optional): "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45).

Vision

Do you see offering forgiveness as serving? (We should initiate forgiveness. We should extend the Lord's forgiveness as His disciples. This is our blessing and gift to others. They need not earn it or ask for it. We give it because of Jesus' love and forgiveness in our own lives.)

Write down one thing you will do this week to serve someone close to you — something you wouldn't have done if you didn't know Christ.

You may choose to close by singing one last song as a benediction.  Pray

Lesson 11 – The Value of True FellowshipGoals of Meeting

1. Kids learn the benefits and blessings of pursuing Christ together with like-minded friends.

Fellowship

Mixer/game (optional) - Human Bingo. Make a three-by-three box diagram with things that are true about someone in the room (e.g., I've been to Frontier Ranch or I wear contacts). Have kids go around and get the signatures of folks who fit each description. First one to fill their board wins a prize. This encourages kids to find out more about each other.

Worship (optional)  Family time

o Have kids share how someone else in the room has blessed them recently.

o Share a story where a friend spurred you on to do something you wouldn't have done otherwise (positive or light-hearted, not negative).

Share applications from last or previous weekso Any successes to share in your attempts to serve others for Christ? How

were you blessed by having this focus on your mind? How was Christ honored?

Teaching (select inductive questions appropriate for your group)

Ask kids to brainstorm what they think it would have been like to be one of the disciples. What would have been good? Challenging? Throw out words to describe what these guys' friendships might have looked like. What made them that way?

Read Acts 2:42-47 together or in smaller groups. Ask:

How would you define friendship? What was this group committed to? What made this bigger than average friendship?

What do you think their day-to-day lives looked like? (Spent a lot of time together, shared everything — struggles, joys, food, money and they shared what they saw their faith accomplishing.)

What was the impact of their fellowship to their own lives? To the lives of others (hint: see verse 41)?

Was fellowship ever the goal or was it intended to be a means to an end? (See John 13:34-35. Fellowship was a necessary support needed to accomplish their grand vision of evangelizing to the world.)

Read Hebrews 10:24-25 together to sum up what you have learned.

Memory verse for the week (optional): "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching" (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Vision

Think about how the principles the apostles lived by (devotion to following Christ, prayer together, time together, shared possession and experiences and so on) might translate to our modern lives? You may want to make a chart and list ideas on it.

Talk about the benefits of living this way. Discuss how you can encourage each other and practically build "true fellowship" as you've just defined it within Campaigners.

Now, spend a few minutes talking about what the outcome would be if you all lived this way. Both in your own lives and in others (school, friends and family).

Pray for unity and a common desire to follow Christ together this way and ask the Lord to let this impact others who see it.
