Seminar: “Developing Danang into an international Center of Tourism and Service Industries” 22:30:58, Oct 25th, 2014

On October 25th, Danang’s People Committee held the seminar “Developing Danang into an

international Center of Tourism and Service Industries” with the participation of the Ministry of

Culture - Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Institute of Economics as well as plenty of established

experts and specialists in Vietnam and overseas.

During the seminar, various issues were raised for discussion including: how spatial planning

can help Danang become an international tourism destination; solutions to develop

destinations for foreign tourism in Danang; Bach Dang – 2035 Vision; Developing Danang into

a major regional destination; improving the traffic system in Danang to elevate international

tourism; Medical tourism in Danang: an unexplored industry; a brief overview of the

entertainment industry in Vietnam and how to develop entertainment activities in Danang ;

Building competency for Danang in particular and Central Vietnam in general; Danang’s

ambition to become a highly competitive international tourism center etc.

According to tourism experts, Danang has every potential to become a center of tourism

thanks to its accessibility. Specifically, visitors are offered a wide range of transport modality

when travelling to Danang (land, airway, railway and maritime).

So as to improve Danang’s tourism industry, governors should consider and analyze the

proposals put forward during the seminar. With prompt implementation, Danang’s governors

will be able to develop the city into a desirable destination offering high quality services of

international standard. Besides, it is advisable to focus on the enhancement of the key services

in Danang along with investing in potential services such as river tour, centralized shopping

center, indoor leisure activities etc.
