Who should I ask to write a letter of recommendation for me?

• Choose someone: –Who relates to your major–Knows you academically–Knows you as a person outside of class–Knows your abilities, strengths, interest

Ask for letter at least 3 weeks prior to due date to give plenty of time for person to create it

Ask if they can keep letter on file so you can request another letter when you need one

Who can apply for Cal Grant?

• Submit the FAFSA and your verified Cal Grant GPA by the deadline

• Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen• Be a California resident• Attend a qualifying California college • Be in a program leading to an undergraduate degree

or certificate • Be enrolled at least half time • Have registered with U.S. Selective Service (males 18

years of age)

Cal Grant A • Minimum 3.0 GPA• Used for tuition and fees at public and private

colleges as well as some private career colleges.

• You need to be working toward a two-year or four-year degree.

• Pays up to:–CSU $5,970–UC $12,192–Private $9,223

Cal Grant B

• Minimum 2.0 GPA • For disadvantaged and low-income families. • Pays up to $1,473 freshman year
